Not to hate on the promo art, but the Medic should be wearing the Weather Master XD

I like the idea of an "Iron Mann" Engineer set, I just hope Valve does the right thing and releases it all together. A lot of the "worst" cosmetics are actually just singular parts of a larger set that wouldn't be judged so harshly had they been released together, i.e. the Heavy metal tube cosmetic. I've seen the full set and it looks good, but with just the shoulder guard it looks out of place. Luckily these items fit well independently. Also between all the classes that need more cosmetic diversity, Engineer and Medic are at the pinnacle of that pile. In comparison to Scout, Pyro, and Spy, those 2 are bums on the street. Regardless of how game-changing they play, their cosmetics still need the same degree of careful decision making. But I'd be aggravated if something this simple but great wasn't at the least considered.

In regards to other items, I would indeed like to expand on this. A helmet piece would round the set off well and a backpack/shoulder combo item could be interesting. I'd also consider a goatee as a bonus misc if people are fond of the "Iron Mann" idea.

@Meta Breakers - Thank you for the kind words. I agree the flames would be more interesting, it's a shame Valve don't seem to support styles anymore as having an on/off option would be ideal. You're pretty much spot on with the themes. I was trying to convey the idea that these are just parts of a larger suit, with the inner material being visible (normally covered by the rest of the suit) and in the case of the HALE 9000 the wire being severed from what it would usually connect to. I like to think it used to be attached to a weapon system but the AI core became corrupt and too dangerous to have that kind of control. Now it just controls his hand and uses predictive algorithms while observing the battlefield to help the Engineer devise the best plan of attack.

Another thing I wanted ask before I left this thread was if you had any plans on completing this Engineer set and what are the current ideas? This a nice, little project and I like seeing anything that puts something out there that's new. The set currently looks like some sort of "space engineer" and a fairly powerful one at that. Almost like this Dell Conagher is a strange mix of a lot of sci-fi elements in one package. The Reboots are whatever the final name will be looks like a variety of space shoes, possibly Dead Space. And the HALE 3000 looks like the love child of the Infinity Gauntlet and a Power Glove. I'm not certain which would fit better, some sort of power suit or a Star Lord-esqe helmet. Either way, I'll be waiting to pick these items up on the next update.

Thank you for replying with such a calm and cool demeanor, it's refreshing to see something other than hate being spread in the community. Anyways, I like these boots the way they are right now and understand that development software can be difficult to use as well as how looming a deadline can be, intimidating almost, but with this new knowledge I respect your decision. Although the flames would've been really unique and made this cosmetic stand out even more I'll wear them because a good and genuine person made them instead. Good work and good luck.

Is that something that you'd all like to see if I can find the tris (and time) to update it? Or do you prefer the current version being turned off because he can't fly in-game anyway?

@Meta Breakers - I was originally going to call these the Roboots and then realised something very similar was already in the game, so I changed it quickly to Reboots instead. Is that what you are referring to? Thank you for the name suggestions, I know what you mean about similar names as I made the same mistake with Ein and Einstein.

The flame idea only appearing when you jump and clipping into the ground is actually the reason I wanted to make these but during testing I felt it was very distracting having them flicker on screen briefly and then disappear again every single time you took a step. I then decided on the placement you see here but ran out of tris to do a decent job, and with the deadline fast approaching my only option was to just work with what I had or not submit it at all. I'd also intended for the flames to be paintable, which is why these aren't currently.

Looks really cool.

I love this cosmetic, it's well done and looks great, but 2 concerns. Is there a flame effect when you jump (like instead of jumping you look like you're boosting) and aren't you worried that the name is VERY similar to the Reboot. How about substituting Reboots for something more appropriate and diverse. May I suggest, "the Interstellar Steel-Toes", "Heels of Steel", or "the Houston Problem Solvers". Not trying to take away any of your credit, just saying we've had the same name issue arise with the Snow Stompers and Storm Stompers.

when you jump there should be fire coming out the bottom of the rockets or something
