The Romans also wore breast plates like that too. But only higher ups, not standard soldiers. The Romans would also use a Corinthian inlfuenced helmet design until they devolped a different style that was easier to see out of, and hear out off. As for the red, it is said the Spartans wore red to hide the fact they could bleed.. A warrior thing.

Anyways, what we know of as "Ancient Greece" ended around 30 BCE... Right when Rome was having a radical destabilization of their government with the killing of Giaus Julius Caesar, the end of the Roman Republic, and the birth of the Roman Empire.

In the last hundred years of "Ancient Greece" The Romans did invade Greece though. But this was well after adopting Greek culture, (Food, armor, war tachtics, education, and architecture).

On a side note, the Romans also did not dare invade Sparta on its own. They had to gather the support from many different city states, inlcuding Athens. The city of Sparta was WAYYY past its prime though.

[GFC] GoldFire, These are in fact Greek. What we classify as "Ancient Greek" Started Circa 8,300 - 7,000 BC In what is called the "Mesolithic Period". From 7,000 - 3,000 BC is called the "Neolithic Period". And evidence of the first human settlement was found near what would be the city of Sparta in Greece. This evidence dated back to mid Neolithic Periods.

Further, as to why these models are Greek and not Roman is by what they are wearing. True, the Romans did use armor similar to this at a time, however, the key factor is the Corinthian helmet. (Corinth is another city state northeast of Sparta) The first helmets that looked like this one was dated to around 700 BC. The one on this model is meant to be from around 500-400 BC. Right when the Greco-Persian wars began in around 499 BC. The Greek helmet would VASTLY change after this, forming a more "Roman" (Even though Rome wasnt a Republic yet) style...
