Question though. About "Diminishing Returns". Can you explain "Reward gain is reduced by 1 for every 20 levels above a certain value"? What do you mean every 20 "levels"? Does that mean the Soldier's Hack score?

I was wondering why my codebreaker went from 50 to 130hack in a couple missions, so that explains it
Well, shit, not sure what to do now, guess I'll have to play with the console for a bit
[the path to your Steam install]\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\639884488
where 268500 is the XCom2 number game for Steam and 639884488 is the number of the mod.
The path to your Steam install is, if you didn't change the default option during installation of the Steam client : C:\Program Files (x86)
The .ini you're looking for is XComHackPlus.ini in the config folder of the mod.
Always check if the +X hack bonus is being showed after hacking. It took me long enough to figure the mod wasn't working (Not only the +X bonus wasn't showing, but also no actual bonus was being given) and I only managed to make it work again after reinstalling it.
Do not know what caused it, cause by the time I noticed it, it could be a number of things (Mods, crashes, etc.)
Anyway, very good mod dev!
If you have a soldier/spark equipped with any upgrade that comes with Grimy that boosts the hacking stat and you do a hack with Hack plus enabled whatever boost they got from the upgrade will be applied permanently.
For example:
The 'Superior Trojan Protocol' adds 15 to the hacking stat.
Failing/Succeeding in a hack will then add +1 from Hack plus but also +15 because of the upgrade this will lead to crazy high hacking stats if you have the Spark Upgrade which can add plus 50 - 90 at a time.
Any chance that will be fixed ?
One request as you go through it: the LW2 ability "Full Override" was not compatible with this mod. If you were to somehow include it, you'd make a lot of people very happy. :D
Great stuff. Not sure if you've checking the Discussion on this but quite a few of us have been using toned down numbers, could be worth checking back a few pages for some ideas.
IE, if diminishing returns is set to 80, and the difficult hack reward is 2 points
A soldier with base 105 hack I would think would receive +1 hack on success
If said soldier has a skullmining skulljack equipped (+25 hack), the soldier would have a modified hack stat of 130, and get +0 hack on success.
This mostly introduces an oddity where it is beneficial to NOT equip good gear until you base stat is as high as it can get
"i found a good settings for this mod to be 1 hack on fail, 2 hack on easy and 0 hack on hard.
this way you have to make a choice between farming the hack or having robot controlled and once you have your 200 hack monster stat stops inflating. "
Dragon's is pretty good too.
"Setting up a new campaign and I like your thinking. So based on what you've put, the values I have are:
+HackPointRewardOnFail=5
+HackPointRewardEasyOnSuccess=0
+HackPointRewardOnSuccess=1
Do you have +DiminishingReturns=true? I've enabled that too (default of 80 for it kicking in) "
my intention in resubbing is to give boosts to non-specialists. to that end here's my settings:
+RandomizeReward=true
+EasyOnFail=0 ; currently ignored
+OnFail=10
+EasyOnSuccess=5
+OnSuccess=0
+Diminishing=true
+DiminishingReturnsStartsAbove=40
I'm experimenting with the randomize toggle, plus i savescum like a champion so me actually NOT reloading on a failed hack is nigh impossible.
