😊
EshFrog 23 Nov, 2023 @ 2:18am
still looks good today, despite probably having half the block options a new build would. :selike:
LeonserGT  [author] 1 May, 2020 @ 10:40am
It was never using any mods.
philippino30 1 May, 2020 @ 8:20am
is it still working without mods?
LeonserGT  [author] 2 Jan, 2020 @ 9:51am
Yes, also turn on ion when above ~7km, since they start to provide noticeable thrust. Also note that this is quite an old ship, some things might be changed regarding the thrust balance and fuel
Aberro 2 Jan, 2020 @ 6:02am
Which is the most efficient way to leave a planet? Guessing from engines configuration, I should go straight up horizontally until 4km, then turn on hydrogen and go up vertically?
Banri 25 Jun, 2018 @ 8:59am
I pasted it into the world too. I still can’t move it. I checked the storages. No fuel inside anything. Only the thrusters work. But the ship doesn’t move. If I paste it. It just falls in a sideways drift to the ground.
LeonserGT  [author] 24 Jun, 2018 @ 5:23am
Maybe it's static as project is? If it's powered, it can fly, but who knows which bugs you could encounter...
Banri 24 Jun, 2018 @ 4:48am
What fuel does this use? i cant get it to move after i build it from a projector
DizzyIsMyName 17 Apr, 2016 @ 5:58pm
Much appreciated. I got a similar number in my testing.
LeonserGT  [author] 17 Apr, 2016 @ 2:58pm
Lol, I guess I have different earth with 0.1 G?
Zero Cool 17 Apr, 2016 @ 11:20am
Sinks as soon as it's pasted on earth. not powerful enough to sustain flight
LeonserGT  [author] 15 Apr, 2016 @ 12:11pm
So, I tried to count that mass and I got approx 100 tons of limit in x1 inventory, but you need to use your both up and forward thrusters to leave Earth with 100 ms limit in vanilla by a cost of ~35% of hydrogen tank. Don't forget to turn on hydrogen thrusters!
DizzyIsMyName 20 Mar, 2016 @ 2:36pm
Does anybody have a number for maximum mass to break gravity on a 1g planet? So far, i'm not able to load much of anything on the ship and still accomplish gravity escape.
anjasqurl 15 Mar, 2016 @ 12:30pm
Oops. I was planning to mention that I figured the design just didn't allow for interior light. Its not a big deal really to use your suit lights. Its not like you are going to move around a lot in flight.

As for the Jumpdrive I'd recommend just trying to design a jump pack that can be used with a merge block.

My plan for dealing with getting into space involves a station just out of the gravity as a refuel/recharge point so it would be a good place to leave a jump pack to charge and just park it in orbit of Mars with a beacon or GPS coords saved. No reason to totally redesign the wheel when you already have a great design.

I'll admit I didn't actually try landing it. I just pasted it in to take a look and the lack of landing gear was something I happened to notice.
LeonserGT  [author] 15 Mar, 2016 @ 9:44am
@anjasqurl, thanks :)
1) Well, not enough room for it - we still don't have "combined blocks" feature from ME =(
2) Yeah, my primary objective actally was to build ship on server for traveling between Mars and Europa, but jump drive will be very helpful as well, I'll try to add it somehow (I guess that will be another build)
3) It designed to land on it's bottom, actually, it works great in action, I already landed it safely on Mars and that was not even 100% flat surface :)
anjasqurl 15 Mar, 2016 @ 9:28am
GREAT build! The things looks awesome and works like a charm.

The only things I see as issues are.
1. Little to no interior lighting. (Unless the beacon is supposed to full that role, because turning it on helped a lot)

2. No jumpdrive. I know it is interplanetary, but I second @pat's comments about adding one or giving it an upgrade module to add one.

3. I didn't see any landing gear so you would have to be VERY careful when landing so you don't tear up.

All that being said you have a great ship here and I intend to put it to use in my survival game once I'm established enough to build one.
Dwarf-Lord Pangolin 13 Mar, 2016 @ 7:26pm
I like what I'm seeing here!
LeonserGT  [author] 12 Mar, 2016 @ 12:33am
@pat, in survival, I just changed collector block to the merge ;)
Collector + connector is actually trading adapter for future usin in Exploration Enhancement Mod. However, this ship is large enough to be respawnship, but it can be tier 1 ship, which can be bought on a shipyard.
@CW, yeah, jump drive is large enough to "promote" this shuttle from Tier 1 (1st ship after respawnsip) to Tier 2 :P
So, I guess it can be new, larger version, "Hornet XL", there I guess I can add more thrusters as well.
CW 11 Mar, 2016 @ 7:00pm
@LeonserGT: most of what i've done breaks up all the lines of this little ship, if anything i've made it ugly except for the reactor. i slipped in the reactor replacing one of the ellbow joints going to the rear facing hydros.

otherwise i put the battleship coil gun on top of the hydro tank (think i had to bump a couple ion thrusters a brick out to fit it.

then just put another converyer block in the same position of the gatlings. it has a gatling with a ring of small hydro burners on either side ....

like i said, i made it ugly.... was a few quick desperate changes in survival...

if you do go for an change i'd just slip in a reactor or two, maybe an extra ion or hydro forward facing in the winglets. the jump drive is farly bulky and would muck with all the pipeing. it is a sweet ship with great lines, don't mess with it too much :)
pat 11 Mar, 2016 @ 5:08pm
Have you considered adding a merge block? Pair that with the connector at the bottom, and you suddenly have a way to attach a jump pack, refuel at depots/hangars, automatically build, and build secondary packages.
Ewell 11 Mar, 2016 @ 3:59pm
So I tried slapping a jump drive to the top of the ship, over the hyrdogen tank. It acually works pretty well. You'll only get 2 or 3 jumps out of the batteries but that's enough to travel between the Earth and Mars planets. It doesn't look too terribly ugly either.
LeonserGT  [author] 11 Mar, 2016 @ 2:08pm
@Ewell, can't disagree with that. But adding is will cause significant changes in ship design, so I think it will better to upload it as new workshop item, "Hornet XL" maybe? :)
@CW, can you make some screens of your changes?
Ewell 11 Mar, 2016 @ 1:18pm
Needs a jump drive. It's not really interplanetary if it can't travel between planets on it's own power.
CW 11 Mar, 2016 @ 1:08pm
lol, good all round genral ship, will get you off planets (kick in hydro at 5 K or so, just before atmos give out)

does a decient job landing on a moon when overloaded (mine is pushing 3 mil kg, added a huge turret to take care of pirates)

only thing i changed other than turret was to extend out the gatlings with one more converyer block to add in more hydro thrusters & replaced an elbow converyer tube with a small reactor. found it would take a while to stop in space. (the all glass pilot area is way cool, don't want to bump into stuff :) )
LeonserGT  [author] 11 Mar, 2016 @ 7:41am
@mochadisney, but please, make it in that way, so I will not facepalming when watching. I mean, make sure you got all the details and looked for toolbar options, like don't try to leave planet without enabling hydrogen thrusters, as this dude below. I mean, I really hope you have enough SE experience, because I just remembered some reviews of my creations, where authors did stupid things because of not knowing how things work in SE :D
No offence
LeonserGT  [author] 11 Mar, 2016 @ 7:18am
@mochadisneym of course, why not :)
@President-Dante-Wallace, make sure you enabled hydrogen thrusters. I set them off by default for not wasting hydrogen, it's or 4 on toolbar, don't remember exactly... There's all groups of thrusters on 1st toolbar after turrets shooting.
Commander Jonathan Archer 11 Mar, 2016 @ 3:07am
cant leave the Earth with it ;/ i can fly 5-6k m high .. and then i fall back to the Ground ;(
Yaken 11 Mar, 2016 @ 2:26am
May I make a youtube video reviewing this ship?
Korino 9 Mar, 2016 @ 12:30pm
Lime green? I very much approve of this paintjob! ;) You'll know why if you take a look at my workshop page. Anyway, it's a very nice looking ship and I'll definitely try it out
Alternative Matter 8 Mar, 2016 @ 3:25pm
I added Solar Panels to the top so no need to worry about running out of battery
LeonserGT  [author] 8 Mar, 2016 @ 3:07pm
Ugh, don't remember if it have some "emergency reactor", but it's main power source are batteries
Alternative Matter 8 Mar, 2016 @ 3:00pm
Is there a reactor? I cant find it
JD.Horx 8 Mar, 2016 @ 2:42pm
Nice shuttle you have there!
jdstephen22 8 Mar, 2016 @ 9:33am
sick ship:)
VORG 8 Mar, 2016 @ 12:32am
It's fine. You used the right colour ratio. Any more and it would of been overkill. They're called "highlights" for a reason
LeonserGT  [author] 8 Mar, 2016 @ 12:21am
Hehe, thx, good thing I didn't listen to some friends, who said to change it's colour to dark grey-turquoise, like Shrike or Condor :P
VORG 8 Mar, 2016 @ 12:15am
You sucked me in with my favourite lime-green colour m8 haha
