Tried using alternate loader to load Cost Based Ability Colors last, didn't fix it.
Tried disabling all mods except for Cost Based Ability Colors, didnt fix it.
Had to unsub all mods, delete config folder and than resub to each mod one by one (Cost Based Ability Colors first) to figure it out.
I'm now back to using 86 of the previous 87 mods I had loaded, had to leave this one off.

you do know that soldiers get "kill assists" right? just for being on a mission?
The counter shows the sum total experience from kills and kill assists.
The kill counter in the armory only shows kills, not kill assists, unless you have a mod to also show the kill assists.
huh, well i'd start by halflifing your mod load order.
disable half, if it still crashes, disable half of the remaining mods, etc
repeat until you find at least one mod potentially responsible.
just ctrl-find any lines with "modclassoverride" in it then delete those lines
works in my tests, please remember to refresh your xcomengine.ini before you report any bugs. I've been getting tons of reports from users who just don't realize they NEED to refresh that.
Thecounter itself does not subsract. Maybe the game it self will, I guess that I will find it out later
There should only be one ini file with more than two or so lines of code on it. Shouldnt be hard to find, just google where the workshop folder is.
I believe the counter should subtract the number of needed kills if the soldier was acquired at a higher rank.
Deep breaths...
definitely some sort of mod conflict. Look at your XComEngine.ini file in your my documents folder, that should tell you which one is conflicting with this mod's overrides.
I was double counting your starting pool by accident. Should be fixed now.
I added it as an option. Just wasn't my preferred way of visualizing things.
