Definitely not a beginner quest, and I think the biggest issue is that the zombies just instantly destroy buildings the moment a couple of them get close. This means that once they build steam (which is extremely easy to have happen), they can instantly demolish a settlement before your heroes can arrive to stop them. Since Houses and Inns are not particularly durable, I don't see why the instant-death script was necessary.

Love the idea of the quest, but the execution is rather frustrating for the user unless they cheese and maybe get lucky.

Not a beginner quest at all. Doesn't really matter what strategy I use since all the inns are destroyed 17 days max into the game. If I invest in a lot of marketplaces, I have no heroes to defeat the hordes of zombies. If I get more heroes and say only 2 marketplaces, I don't have any income and quickly run out of money if I wanted to use spells.

As long as you put the bounty on zombies from the Hall of Champions...the paladins and solari just run around killing them ASAP. Best spell to use is the level 2 Temple of Helia upgrade Sun Scorch. Anytime I noticed 4 zombies in an area...1 or 2 sun scorches took care of it.

Once the big guy came out, I just kept it petrified until it died.

I did not build a blacksmith or bazaar because I didn't want my heroes getting distracted buying potions and weapons. They're only zombies so it's not like they're tough to take down. Was a pretty fun and low stress game.

Took me two times to beat the quest. I understood it after the first loss.

My strategy:

4 Market Places for the economy
1 Elves Guild to double the economy
1 Rangers Guild to explore
1 Temple of Dauros (for Paladins)
1 Temple of Agrela (in case I needed the res...ended up being unnecessary)
3-4 Warriors Guild
3-4 Temples to Helia
1 Hall of Champions

That was pretty much my strategy. I did lose 2 towns that created graveyards. I put a Wizard's Guild at each graveyard with 2 wizards in each guild to keep the constant spawn of zombies occupied. That was my fault for not monitoring it, I got lazy.

Finally beat it. Had to borg the map with wizard towers and get two level three market places with elves to keep the economy going. Lightning bolt every zombie that pops up. If you lose one inn you may as well restart as a graveyard automatically appears as a result that will spam zombies that your heroes won't keep up with. Make sure to get a level three sorcerers abode before day 25 and either petrify or vines. You'll need it for the boss given how many zombies he spawns.

This is a very cool & interesting quest but it DEFINITELY not Beginner! This is almost like Master for me (as I keep losing before day 15) I like it but I haven't won it >< any ideas? I did try Gunnar's strategy but still failed D:

@Crazyenigma: This is a very minor error, the quest is labeled as a "beginner" quest, but I think it should be listed as "Expert" because it is a very difficult quest. :steammocking:

Best custom quest in the workshop. Good work.

Too bad couldnt find a way to beat without ballistas, but maybe if I tried again could still do it since heroes were good at defending their homes. Was mostly trying earlier to do this mission without turtling, but seems impossible to defend more than one village or to put bounties on zombies when they appear (didnt even bother with bounties for the one I won, just used hall of champions because I forgot it existed!)

2.

Also, Hall of Champions is very good here to put trophy on zombies to keep champions fighting. (had hall of champsions running almost entire time after money was coming in)

As soon as I had one of each guild, I started building a few ballistas. From then simply keep extorting and keep building ballistas, doesnt even need to be very thick. A constant stream of zombies will come, but your heroes will be able to fight them all back if you got all of them quick enough.

Zombies will not attack your buildings except maybe guard houses and ballista towers, they bee line to red buildings

Make sure to have level 3 wizards guild near the end, there might be a surprise!

1.

I tried many different strategies but only one could I get to work. Tried about 10 different things!

Simply must turtle at one settlement. That is, at start I built a blacksmith and got it to level 3 as soon as possible at home castle, and then OUTPOST at one of the far corner settlements. Immediatly after finishing outpost, (while upgrading market and blacksmith), built three trading posts. From then, built 2 krypta, 2 fervus 1 wizard (i imagined, their skeletons and animals would distract zombies). From there, built 1 of each guild I could as money allowed. (Once having a rogues guild, extort was useful for all cash flow, as most caravans will not make it to the market once zombies are everywhere, nor tax collectors) One of the other things I built was a Magic Bizaar, as it seems to bring lots of money. Built it near edge of settlement to encourage combat

All guilds were built at the corner settlement surrounding outpost and the red inn and peasant houses

Definitely fixed the crashes that were reported earlier. Thanks for your help!
Phoenix7786 27 Mar, 2016 @ 6:32pm
Ahhh ok. Might want to throw that bone at us the intro, possibly. Since they have no visible HP bars I simply assumed it was coded in as a scripted event. Thanks for the prompt reply by the way!
Crazyenigma  [author] 27 Mar, 2016 @ 6:26pm
If three are around a house it collapses. If there are 6 around an inn it collapses and spawns a graveyard that spawns zombies continuously
Phoenix7786 27 Mar, 2016 @ 6:21pm
The way the houses randomly collapse, is that coded in to happen automatically or is it linked to the presence of the zombies around them?
eggeterloest 21 Mar, 2016 @ 10:47pm
Very interesting quest.
I had a crash a day or two after day 20 - but I could finish after loading the autosave.
Got no clues for the crash -but I had a couple of zombies walking around with 0 HP. Any bounty placed on them disappeared and heroes ignored them.
Crazyenigma  [author] 21 Mar, 2016 @ 7:38pm
Can't recreate, but I made some change that should resolve the crash. Please post if you experience anymore.

Can't recreate, but I made some changes that might have caught the error.

Game crashed on the 6th day. I'll give it another go, though.
