Also, you might find other good textures in free Source mods like the PVK series. I'm sure there are things like velvet for carpet or throne-backing, various stone textures for fancy interior, and things like that. TF2 has a FEW things that might help, but their exaggerated art style means most textures don't fit in well to serious-looking maps.

Still, if you're looking for free ways to get new textures... between finding the CSS texture download, TF2, and various Source mods there is a lot to be had.

CSS has some decent stone and grass textures, I believe. A lot of GMod map makers talk about where to find it for free, and I think they're referring to a legal download of it.

my only problem would be finding the textures to use...
RMS-099 Rick Dias 18 Mar, 2016 @ 8:08pm
That would look fantastic. I've always wanted a map along these lines in AA, and would be glad to see this.

Haha time crysis, but yeah i think ill attempt to make something similar possibly. I was thinking of somthing along the line of this - http://media.irishcentral.com/images/MI+Castle+Island+myth.jpg

though i would connect it to something larger by a dangling bridge, mabey connect that to this - http://s3.freefoto.com/images/11/04/11_04_10_web.jpg

It's not too far removed from the Casa Malaparte in style, though the idea tends to build much more vertical. You can see some examples of it in the intro to Time Crisis, and I suspect real world examples might exist too. Here's what Time Crisis offers on the premise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gApJbNJoOZo

Catsle on an island? Hmmm sounds way better actaually, mabey ill do that instead
RMS-099 Rick Dias 18 Mar, 2016 @ 7:18pm
The Casa Malaparte? Interesting choice. I'd always wanted to see a medieval castle on an island as a map, but the Casa Malaparte is kind of close to that. Will look forward to your results!

sorry it took a while but i made some changes
Mr. Moustache  [author] 18 Mar, 2016 @ 10:08am
Oh and to make the maps i use hammer, you already have it and it should be in your Steam>steamapps>common>Anarchy Arcade>Bin
As for how to use it theres a few tutorials i watched. Theres one the dev of the game made which shows you the basics and if you want more tutorials i would recomend 3klicksPhilips tutorials. Despite his being for cs source its still the same for making maps(Only your not making to be t vs ct rather making places that look good for arcades)

Yes i do plan on making other maps actually. For what i would do im still not too sure, though ive been wanting to turn a home called the "Casa Malaparte" into a map
UncleSHREDDER 18 Mar, 2016 @ 9:42am
beautiful map by the way
UncleSHREDDER 18 Mar, 2016 @ 9:41am
what do you use to make these maps is it blender? i want to make a map so bad
RMS-099 Rick Dias 17 Mar, 2016 @ 10:33pm
By the way, I'm curious... were you planning any other maps? The progress you've made in just two maps so far is impressive.
RMS-099 Rick Dias 16 Mar, 2016 @ 9:55pm
Sounds good. I'll look forward to seeing it!
Mr. Moustache  [author] 16 Mar, 2016 @ 9:47pm
hmm ill update some stuff
RMS-099 Rick Dias 16 Mar, 2016 @ 9:38pm
Other buildings? Unfortunately, my only thoughts on those would merit an entirely new map. I could list those thoughts, but it probably wouldn't be helpful.

As for the location in question... from spawn, go left or right. You run into a wooden rail. Jumping off throws you into bushes with TONS of objects that are hard to move past, resulting in lots of map clutter. End up having to do a lot of jumping to get back on track. I'm honestly not sure what purpose this accessible part of the map is for, since it's a bad place to put any sort of props.
Mr. Moustache  [author] 16 Mar, 2016 @ 9:29pm
oh and where are you jumping off the railings at?
Mr. Moustache  [author] 16 Mar, 2016 @ 9:28pm
Okay then ill see about removing colision and seing if thats possible, also by chance you got any recomendations of any buildings or other stuff to add?
RMS-099 Rick Dias 16 Mar, 2016 @ 9:11pm
There are two possible fun spots for it. One is on the mansion balcony. The other is in the wood area 180 degrees behind you when you spawn, near the rear of the map.

As for the plants... okay, that IS more complex than I thought it would be. It's just annoying to have that stuff in the way when you do things like jump over railing, and have to spend a lot of time navigating around them to get back to where you want to go. The obvious solution is 'don't jump into the bushes', but the player easily can do so and loses a lot of time getting back to usable map section if they do. This might not be worth fixing though.

Other than that, this is a great map and is probably going to be one of my main map choices since I can't find a good luxury castle with low prop-clutter. Thanks again!
Mr. Moustache  [author] 16 Mar, 2016 @ 8:59pm
Well for starters i didn't intend for anyone to leave the boundries of the buildings and walkways so the ponds i felt didn't need railways.

As for the colision with the plants your gonna have to tell me which in specefic because i would need to go in and actually move them(you cant get rid of colosion as far as i can tell)
windows will be easy and i didnt even realize the skybox was thaat way/ill change it

as for the pool, where do you want it? ;)
im making these maps as a pastime because im bored so ill do whatever lol
RMS-099 Rick Dias 16 Mar, 2016 @ 8:49pm
I think the house structure would benefit from windows actually having glass in them, it'd make mounting certain decorations to the walls much easier since there would be something solid.

I'm not sure how easy removing the collision boxes from the various wild plants surrounding the map would be, but it'd make getting around a LOT easier.

Should the 'ponds' have some kind of railing to make it harder to fall in? Just allow people to hop back out if they do launch themselves in.

As an aesthetic thing, and this is purely opinion, the map seems like it might be 'happier' with a brighter skyline, the current sky makes it look like it's about to rain. This may be something you like though and if so that's fine!

The last thing I ponder is whether a small swimming pool would be appropriate, to help drive in the 'luxury' aspect. This is really optional as hell though, nothing important.

The windows and plant collisions are the big things that would help the map flow better.
Mr. Moustache  [author] 16 Mar, 2016 @ 6:55pm
Thanks im glad you like the map and its good to see people appear to like it. What minor changes did you have in mind? ill change anything really so long as its not rediculious.
RMS-099 Rick Dias 16 Mar, 2016 @ 6:03pm
This is a huge improvement on your first map, to the point where I've just ditched it in order to stick with this. Do you plan to do any more updates to this one, though? I see a few minor things worth fixing that should be easy to do, and would make this one of the strongest overall map choices for AA.

Regardless, this is pretty close to a map theme I was looking for anyway and I'm glad to add it to my AA install. Thanks for making it!
