You can use it man, as long as you credit/attribute appropriately its fine.

It's a Game of Thrones mod, I can show you if you'd like

Catbarf, nice mod, do you mind if I include this in a mod of mine and give you credit?
Almanzor 24 Feb, 2017 @ 5:23pm
Thanks for your reply. I already used Gimp for 3D models' textures long time ago. AoE modding seems to be 100times easier than for M&B! I'll start as soon as I can.
Btw, it is a pitty that the castle's appearance doesn't change at the Imperial age in AoE 2. It would give more architectural diversity.

I currently do all my work in 2D using copy/paste method. For this I use a free bit of software called 'Gimp' which is like a freeware version of photoshop and has very good functionality. Using Gimp I creater a bitmap image for each building, which i then convert to an SLP graphic file using 'TurtlePack' editor which you can download from AOKHeaven.

Its quite easy to get started with it.

@ Catbarf,
Ok, I'll do that.
Btw, may I ask which softwares you used to make the castle? I used to mod for Mount & Blade Warband and modelled a lot of castles for it, and now I'd like to start on AoE but it must be very different.

Almanzor88 - not possible under the current build of HD without data modding, which is useless from a MP perspective (and I only play MP). If you want this to change, then make sure to let the devs know that the community wants each civ to have unique building SLPs numbers in the default data. The more people that are asking, the better the chance is it will happen.

I would have prefered if it only affected Italians and not also Portugueses.

¿Por qué no está todo unido el set de arquitectura italiana?

Anyone know what the round structures on the keep are called and their use IRL? Are they for archers?

great work dude, it looks much better now :steamhappy:
Grandmaster of the Templars 8 Apr, 2016 @ 5:27am
Much better than the original AoF Italian castle. Playing through Alaric's campaign with your whole set installed made all the difference.
✝ Gamlingwine 6 Apr, 2016 @ 3:27pm
I think the design is pretty good. Still far from real castles of the italian peninsula, but much closer in style and architecture than that dung the developers designed.
Mr.Wolf 6 Apr, 2016 @ 2:50pm
When someone is inside the flag isn´t in the rite place and the snow also. But man...Perfect! Just perfect! :D

Were you the guy going by Warsmithy on the AoEHeaven forums? The guy doing the Byzantine mod set?
Pax.Romana(YUKILL) 4 Apr, 2016 @ 2:19pm
More Italian type buildings? This Castle look better :D
Andstopher 3 Apr, 2016 @ 3:03pm
also can u make sure the buildings follow the same shape (barracks always has that courtyard with a taller section in the back, market has that ring with stalls and then the main building, etc.)
Staring Eagle 2 Apr, 2016 @ 12:43pm
looks very nice! :D
Andstopher 2 Apr, 2016 @ 9:28am
can u make this style for all the buildings? :D
D 2 Apr, 2016 @ 9:18am
Es precioso :(
LM 2 Apr, 2016 @ 8:33am
Me gusta! Estaré pendiente por los graficos bizantinos! :D
Majacura 2 Apr, 2016 @ 3:15am
way better than the castle designed by the devs
[Capsule Corp] Ren Majestic 1 Apr, 2016 @ 11:31am
spectacular

Hi TriRem, thanks for your advice here - much appreciated. Definately you were clear but its also dissapointing to know that the snows/flags (and presumably flames as well) cannot be corrected without data editing.
As soon as a mod loses MP compatability it is pointless for me becuase thats all I play!
julianbaba4 31 Mar, 2016 @ 4:58pm
Could you make a cut&paste version of the Western European Castle so that it has a round post on each corner (instead of just one).
TriRem 31 Mar, 2016 @ 8:23am
As for garrison flags, snow and flames placement they are all handled in the data, so they're nothing you can about it as long as data mods aren't supported.

If you're interested in how they work : in the drs there are slp of each size of flames, different shapes of snow and flags. For each existing building in the data there is a flag graphic : a blank graphic with the flag graphic twice as annex graphics, each of them correctly anchored so that when the garrison graphics is loaded over the building the flags will be on the right spot on the building.

Was I clear ? Not sure but you can always ask me if needed, I might do another university article on that topic :p
julianbaba4 31 Mar, 2016 @ 4:54am
Awesome! Thanks :)
Catbarf  [author] 31 Mar, 2016 @ 1:13am
Glad you guys like it.
Julian - shadow is a fair call, I have now replaced the black shadow with a transparency.
mini_lancer 30 Mar, 2016 @ 11:11pm
Great stuff! Waiting for your Byzantines set as well :D
julianbaba4 30 Mar, 2016 @ 11:02pm
Looks absolutely gorgeous, however that black shadow should be transparent.
Still excellent work :)
Ghazna 30 Mar, 2016 @ 10:31pm
This is great .. I alwayds disliked the italian architecture style with white bricks.. See if you can change the whole italian building set :)

One thing: the top-right block of the castle has roof that is ASSYMETRIC. It looks a bit weird .. if you know what I mean
TriRem 30 Mar, 2016 @ 2:10pm
Beautiful, you're really good with cut & paste graphics :D
Jester 30 Mar, 2016 @ 5:43am
More! More! More!
Nasai 30 Mar, 2016 @ 5:31am
good work!
Catbarf  [author] 30 Mar, 2016 @ 4:43am
I have made some corrections to the slp in the current version. These fix the shadowing inconsistencies you can see in the preview image on the roof and battlement on the left side of the building.
