Thank you for making this map! I was able to create some parts of NOLA with it in detail https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3333652476

This is just beautiful and accurate!! Thanks!

The person saying that this map is mostly gretna and saying that the eatbank isnt new orleans clearly isnt from my home city. The east bank is new orleans the west bank isnt. gretna is so small on the WESTBANK how could they confuse the two? u can clearly see the lake in the north and the river in the south. Thanks for this map. also the population of orleans parish which is the city hasnt been as low as 100k since the city first reopened after katrina. this guy has no knowledge of the city. Its so draining how outsiders come and try to be more from my home than us creole natives actually ARE.

again thanks for this map

@MrMiyagi. I see what you are seeing. So, maybe i should say it this way, if the center of the mappable area was on the French Quarter of New Orleans, the bottom edge of the Map would be the Missippii river. I mean New Orleans proper is not that big and we have a population of around 107,000 people. so if the Mississippi is at the bottom edge, the top edge would have Lake Pontchartrain. The left border of the city would be River road which used to a Mississippi tributary that was filled in and the right most would be the MRGO which connects the Lake to The river. I mean hionestly, I have bigger cities on your other maps i use (Yes I am a fan) than New Orleans actually is
MrMiyagi  [author] 1 Jul, 2021 @ 8:59am
You can't fit all that into Cities Skylines, unless you increase the area covered, which means you would have to make a map at a scale that is MUCH smaller than real life. Picture number 5 above shows you the area this map covers in purple. Part of Lake Pontchartrain is in the map, but it's outside of the buildable area (unless you use 81 tiles mod). It's not ideal, but it's what we have to live with. Spread-out cities like Sydney, New York, LA, Seattle, Atlanta... none of them fit into a CS map. It's annoying, but it's what we're stuck with.
esumiwa 1 Jul, 2021 @ 7:01am
Okay, sorry but this map isn't accurate. Where's Lake Pontchartrain? Lake Bourne? MRGo? Basin and Canal? Your map is more Gretna, East Bank which isn't even Orleans Parish. Starting point should be the French Quarter which is in between the two curves of the S the Mississippi makes.

Hi SmootSmack1941, that item was made by another modder / creator. They took it off the workshop. The good news is that a removed road intersection doesn't affect this map nor its roads. So, all is good.
If you really want that intersection, there's a way to do that! Check out Move It! mod's page to learn how to take the intersection which still exists in this map, copy it and paste it with one click into asset editor. Save, and then you have your own copy of 10 and US 61

The only way you could cause a flood would be by lowering the levee walls with the terrain brush, or if you have disasters turned on and a tsunami hits. Even so, if you repair the levee wall or get a flood, the "below sea level" on this is actually above the numerical sea level assigned, so the land will eventually dry once you repair the levee wall ;) Also, right next to the quays in your landscaping menu is sea barriers. They weren't available when this map was made, so you now can build them even if you have no mods.
MrMiyagi  [author] 25 Mar, 2017 @ 8:21am
Hi Agent_Blackwing, at one point it was possible to place sea walls in map editor via a mod, but it caused a lot of problems (and I had to re-make the entire map because of it O.o ) so, it doesn't include them, but you won't have any floods due to rain or even the rapid water currents. It was tested by running it for hours. The levee edges are also all competely even, which makes placing those sea walls really easy, clean and neat like in the picture (see your landscaping menu to build those). Continued...
Unconventional 24 Mar, 2017 @ 3:16pm
Does it incude the sea walls?
Or that lake that looks like it would flood if it rained?

Seeing this logo referred to other cities just annoys me a little, but you're free to use what you want.
A Rhinolined Jeep 26 Dec, 2016 @ 7:10pm
heh, i actually live just a little ways south of Downtown New Orleans, you see City flags and French flags everywhere
MrMiyagi  [author] 26 Dec, 2016 @ 9:17am
Hiya Grand Duchess, yup! That's the one and I tried using it since the city colors and the three simpler fleur de lis, but they just wouldn't fit right within the space, so I went with some fancy-schmancy one I found thanks to google :D and left it as a semitransparent so you could see the image of the map better
MrMiyagi  [author] 26 Dec, 2016 @ 9:10am
Yidath the logo is supposed to be a fleur de lis, a symbol in many former French colonies, that looks nice as a logo :D
A Rhinolined Jeep 24 Dec, 2016 @ 3:54pm
that would be the Municipal flag, featue three less detailed Fleur-de-lis
MarcoCapps93 24 Dec, 2016 @ 1:01pm
The symbol in the icon isn't from New Orleans, it's in the flag of the city of my birth: Florence. ;)

Hiya Fingerlikin. You have discovered the main reason why I usually dislike making totally flat maps :D But yes, it is possible, all it takes a lot of careful construction and running the simulation for a long time inside map editor to make sure that the river and water spawns you set up actually flows right. What I do is make the land by the beginning /upstream) of the river just slightly higher than the land at the end of the river, and then I place water spawns set at heights that go down (just like the land) from upriver down to the last one where the river goes into the ocean. You can see exactly how this works by opening up St Petersburg map in the map editor, and hovering over the top of each water spawn to see how the assigned level of each goes down step by step. I hope all this made some sense https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=627767123

I'm trying to make my first map. I've decided to do a sized down version of New Orleans with a distorted version of the Missisippi river which brings the bayou and the Missisippi delta much much closer to the city. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to get the Missisippi to flow correctly without it either drying up or the ocean counteracting the flow. Do you have any tips on how to get the water to flow correctly?

as someone who lives just about 20 minutes south of New Orleans, this makes me very happy :3
MrMiyagi  [author] 4 Jun, 2016 @ 7:15am
Thanks PikeStance! The community in this game is awesome, and these guys put their hearts and souls into the creations that led to the idea to bring them all together in this map. Glad it gave you nice thoughts of home, I know how it feels to be living very far away from home :)
PikeStance 3 Jun, 2016 @ 12:24am
As a native away from home, great map. I think there is a guy on youtube using your map. I am surprise how few models they are of New Orleans. French quarter buildings, St Louis Cathedral, double shotgun homes, and of course, the Superdome! I am modder myself (Total War), so I know how much time and effort it takes. In case you are wondering, I'm scriptor/ text editor, not an artist like you guys.
Thank everyone for your great effort and bringing these items to us. Take it from soneone who has lived overseas for over ten years, New Orleans is THE GREATEST PLACE IN THE WORLD. (love the Karate Kid reference!!! Classic!
MrMiyagi  [author] 6 May, 2016 @ 12:30pm
If you want to, you can take my map and do that very thing, and share it as a save game! Happy to have you use it however you like.
MrMiyagi  [author] 6 May, 2016 @ 12:29pm
Hi Bro90, you can't use anything that isn't coded as a highway in the map editor. What someone would have to do would be to share a save game (instead of a map) with all the streets put down. Definitely not my thing (besides would take weeks and weeks!).
Bro90 5 May, 2016 @ 5:39pm
have you tried filling it with all the smaller streets? btw, we need a super dome and pelicans center (whatever thats called)
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 Apr, 2016 @ 5:23am
Glad you like! I thought it would be right to do it right and make it as realistic a simulation as possible. The manipulation to make it under sea level yet still stay dry was a pain! :D

Hi @kurtispurgatory91, I added sharp junction angles mod. If you really want this map, try adding that mod. I really prefer not to make people subscribe to mods to use my maps, but for some bizarre reason a few of my newest maps don't work suddenly (after the most recent game update) unless you have those two mods. Let me know if that works or if it doesn't, because that will really help me to figure out how to change this situation for future maps
benzoll 25 Apr, 2016 @ 11:12am
@MrMiyagi - Si, soy de Asturias. Me suscribi a todos los mods/assets y empeze de nuevo, ( porque hay que empezar nueva ciudad, no vale ponerlos despues) y salio todo decorado y muy chulo.

@kurtispurgatory91 - Perhaps you should subscribe mod "sharp junction angles".

kurtispurgatory91 25 Apr, 2016 @ 12:51am
Map isn't working. I have subscribed to all of the required items and mods, but I keep getting an error when I load one of your maps. The error always says [No Details]

Hi Dragonslayer, a lot of people are currently having problems with 81 tiles. No matter who makes the mod, 81 tiles is a very finicky, difficult mod to code and will probably be problematic... forever. Anyhow, I am not sure if this works with it or not. You can give it a try and let me know! :)
MrMiyagi  [author] 24 Apr, 2016 @ 2:11pm
Hola benzoli.

I see map. Impressive. Great job.
-I have not installed "sharp junction angles" nor "full trees collection".
