5.56x45 was distinctly ineffective in windy Afghanistan past the first few hundred meters of transit, hence the increasing use of 308 within the first few months. The M14 is a decent DMR, but less-than-perfect battle rifle at higher fire rates compared to floating barrels. The exception to 308 generally becoming the go-to was compared to like the 300 & 338 magnums at even longer ranges or the 308 having trouble against just moderate body armor past 500 meters. Though there was some, improvised body armor was not a huge issue in Afghanistan, and unless you're a sniper, you couldn't fully exploit the magnum rifles. 308-chambered M110 was also almost exclusively being used by marksmen and snipers. The new move to .277 is related to near-peer adversaries, not GWOT 'arid' wars. If we weren't concerned with body armor past 500 meters, we'd be sticking to intermediate 308 with its superior subsonic options.

Any chance of the M1A socom? its basically a shortened m14 with a polymer stock. loads of different versions also

Is there any hope you'll add an M1 Garand to the pack, since it follows in the same theme and is the predecessor to the M14 (you could probably re-use a lot of the work you've already put into the M14 models)?

@[S2] Still A Lime: To clarify, Mag Switch doesn t work only with hlc_50Rnd_762x51_B_M14
magazines, with the other 50 rnd drum it works fine.

@[S2] Still A Lime: Regarding the mag non-switching, it concerns the whole lot - every rifle from M14 pack when reloading with this magazine: hlc_50Rnd_762x51_B_M14

@lizardbolo - the muzzleflash thing is known, looking into. the non-switching- is it just one M14 specifically, or is it the whole lot?

Muzzle flashes on all M14 models with 50rnd drum magazines are misaligned with the barrel.
After reloading M14s with X14 mag "hlc_50Rnd_762x51_B_M14" the weapons models don t change to the ones with the drum mags.

Both the Mk316 and Mk319 magazines link to Mk316, causing the ACE3 range card to get stuck on whichever you open first. Their velocity is different because of a property on the magazines apparently, but ballistics are probably not what they should be. I have seen the comment on the Mk319 codeblock, but the G3 magazines seem to work fine simply by having the SBLR mag actually link to Mk319 ammo.

I agree with Delta Boy, these guns sound as if they are firing a .22 instead of something that will bust someones skull to pieces, please bring back the HLC sounds for all of the guns

The best Weapons Mod for ArmA I've ever used. Not just the M14 but all other NIArms packs as well. As Marksman I adore the SopMod M14......except the sound. With the HLC version, the sound was awesome. Firing you really know, that bullet is gonna ruin someones day. And the clank of the bolt chambering the first round of a new mag just got me every time. Where is that gone? Will it come back? Will we get it as optional extra? I miss it......

I have noticed that the models for the M14 and M21 seem extremely rusty or dirty. Was this intentional? Additionally, I add that the sights on the DMR are how an M14's sights generally look, while the M14 and M21 use a NM sight that is somewhat out of place on the service rifles. This is the most supreme and high-quality weapons mod that I have ever seen!

@[S2] Still A Lime: First of all, you are the creator of the best weapon mods for Arma 3. I'm running into a problem with the scopes. I can't see them on the weapon, i can aim down sights tho. Any suggestions on a solution?

@g1 - HLC M14 is older, Steam workshop stopped letting me update it. It's really only there for legacy purposes, and ASDG Joint rails has been rolled into CBA, if you subscribe to this, it should be marked as a dependency and you'll get it downloaded also.

One thing that bugs me about this pack is that none of the rifles seem to accept vanilla 20 round 7.62x51 magazines like those used in the mk14 and mk18, despite them being logically M14 magazines (the only guns that use them are M14-type guns, after all!)

I'm not sure if it's just me but the scopes on the m14 that come from this pack do not function as they should. When you equip them, the model for the scope is invisible but you can still zoom in with the scope.
