so the other mod is called "Global Positions" that combined with this outdated mod causes the icons flicker.

if users want this mod features (even though its outdated) and you want to avoid most of the flickering, you'll have to choose to not use Global Positions mod.

yep. some/all icons enabled by this are in a fast flicker state on the minimap.

but i haven't seen the flicker happen when hosting solo with just my client side mods enabled.

so it seems to only happen when combined with some other server mod i have enabled. i haven't narrowed it down yet. i'll report back if i can patiently toggle each to pinpoint a culprit.

try to disable their map icon (as well as the wall map icon), maybe it will solve the problem (at leasst it solves a bug with walls)

Would it be possible to differentiate between grass and cutted grass on the map? Same for trees and other things.

I just read the last comments and I have the same bug "can't do this" when planting, so it is not fixed completly yet?
I use the "Auto Actions" mod. I can just hold Space and my char will chop down the tree, will dig out the stump and will plant a new tree. But after digging the stump out, he says "I can't do that".
Then he collects the logs and suddenly he is able to plant the sapling.
So it is not a big bug anymore, but still there.

I'm loving this mod, and I'd like to contribute to it. Is it hosted in a public repository, where I could submit a pull request?

Specifically, I'd like to add configuration options to make more mobs disappear when they're out of direct vision.

I reproduced the bug but i was still able to plant saplings without failing or getting message though.

@Kain Morgen, O'Nightmare, I was able to reproduce it.
It's easier to see with Geometric Placement mod (I'll be referring to the red/green color scheme). Have some plantable (grass tuft/sapling/etc.) in the inventory.
Steps:
Find some empty space, pick a plantable with the mouse. Geometric Placement mod will show green marks all around.
Catch a live rabbit or a live mole and have it in the inventory.
Pick a plantable with the mouse. Geometric Placement mod will show red marks around the player. Thus the player itself is causing the planting to fail with that message "I can't do that."

components/map.lua|CanDeploy*AtPoint can ignore entities with certain tags.
Adding inst:AddTag("NOBLOCK") into mapiconhelper.lua 's fn seemed to help.

Hello O'Nightmare,

I was using this mod in a server with my friend and somehow, we could not plant saplings, grass and berry bushes. Both our characters simply said "I can't do that." everytime.

We were using other mods too, but we could trace this behaviour back to this mod.
We could plant the objects mentioned with your mod disabled and upon enabling it again, planting them was impossible again.

So for now we switched back to use "[T] Map Plug-in", which does not prevent planting things for us.

It's intended that you need to see tentacle to mark them on minimap. But they will stay marked even out of vision (unlike most other mobs) though.

Some mobs icons (like rabbits, bees, spiders, hounds etc) will now disappear when out of the direct vision to prevent map being littered
