Well, I'm here, and I'll explain.
It means that it can't save normally. What it's telling you to do is to go back to the game's title screen and make a save-state.
Although going back to the title screen is not required. You can make a save-state at all times.
I don't understand that part, can someone explain?
First of all: it fixes a lot of minor issues (like glitches, visual differences, etc...) because they all adds up.
There's a lot of stuff from Sonic 3 that is "lost" once you play it with & Knuckles.
Also it's not unstable, I encountered no glitches. Anyway you're free not to download it but it's the definitive experience with Sonic 3 Angel Island Revisited.
there is absolutely no reason for this mod unless you want a more unstable version of the game and the ability to make nitpick configurations.
