Great mission map.

Not a problem - like I said, I've got nothing better to do! If you want any more help, or for me to play thru what you've got so far - give me a shout!

I appreciate all the work you've put in!

Thank you. I've noticed a bug on mine already x.x the task to buy generals wont show up

I don't mind I'm just stuffing around at the moment and won't go to bed for another 5 hours or so. I'll send you a friend request so you can add me to the contributor section and I'll play it through and let you know how I go.
Hats 5 May, 2016 @ 4:33pm
i've tried making you a contributor but we have to be friends
idk i hate to pull someone in on this when im not in the mood to work.

i'd like for you to play but if you don't want to it's ok

If you'd like me to take a look at the coding, send me a friend request and I'll give you my email so you can email me the mission file to have a look at. I never check my emails but I promise I will if you send it. Or if you want someone to play it through you could make the uploaded game available to me by temporarily making me a contributor so I can play through what you've got so far. You can remove me again afterward. Just an offer, don't feel obliged if you want to work on it alone. I prefer to do things by myself.

I've got no clue whether my waves/side missions are balanced. I'm just tired of ineffective coding and weird workarounds. I hate it already

never had any of those when it happened to be honest

I find testing and fixing bugs tiresome. I don't mind the actual initial coding as much. I take regular ciggie breaks and that helps. Plus gallons of strong coffee so I can focus. Have a rest from it for a while when you've had enough - you'll grow to hate doing it otherwise!

Thanks for the bug reports - next mission I may well ask you to test it before I make it public - saves me having to change it once its been made public - which I don't like to do.

You needed a wharf, gold mine or catholic mission for one event, and entertainment buildings for another - if you had any of them it should have worked - it works for me so I don't know what the problem is.Like you say, perhaps you just didn't notice.

Adding the wait time fixed the faction standing problem - the game only updates popular support every 15 seconds or so, so for 15 seconds the stupid editor was continously lowering faction standing as quickly as it could - which resulted in it sinking to zero. Just played it through and my standing never went lower than indifferent, and jumped up to beloved once I'd won and continued played. So if you're up for a replay, you won't have that problem again, and you can play on and declare independence if you want to.

I had almost every type of building but maybe i just never noticed i guess.

It's really tiring. I'd like to just say i'm done with it. bleh. I might work more tommorow
Granny Annie  [author] 5 May, 2016 @ 11:27am
Interesting you didn't get the arson effect - you mustn't have had the types of building that were to be set on fire. It works for me. I've added a few more building types to be sure that something gets set on fire when it's meant to happen! If you want to play it again soon, you'll have to resubscribe as steam only schedules updates to game owners once a day or so.

had more trouble with the faction standing thing - I've had to add a wait time to the sequence to ensure it doesn't go spastic reducing faction standing over and over while one part of the program is waiting for another part of the program to do it's maths. Just going to test it AGAIN! to make sure it's actually fixed.

Good to hear you're making progress with your mission!
Hats 5 May, 2016 @ 11:00am
the mission will probably be on the brutal side with most of the conflict being unavoidable
Hats 5 May, 2016 @ 10:59am
I'll probably end up play it again since i usually do all revolutionary and royalist missions I actually had like 5 C.missions and 10 taverns with a pop of 400.

Also forgot to mention that arson doesn't seem to work in colonial era

I haven't really done much work on it. I'm hoping to fully test what i have now.

HatGuy - I think I owe you an apology for thinking you weren't pleasing the revolutionaries - just retested and found my revolutionaries faction support dropped to 0 and stayed there too. It's another buggy editor problem - seems you can get a sequence to run dependent on a condition in a repeat forever autostart sequence, but if you add a faction standing modification, instead of a sequence, it ignores the condition and activates the faction standing modification continously. That's my best guess anyhow as to what was going amiss with the faction standing.

I've changed it to run a sequence with the faction standing modification inside that, and it seems to be all good now. If you can be bothered playing it again, you should find your popular support will stay at 40 or below, but faction standing shouldn't drop all the way to zero unless you really upset them!

Hows your mission coming along?
Granny Annie  [author] 5 May, 2016 @ 6:38am
GentlemannOfHats, you mustn't have done many tasks to please the revolutionaries during the playthrough to have 0 standing - it's set to stay below 40 until you win, but it should only go really low if you're not doing the standard vanilla sandbox tasks they set you. They also want good living standards on the island - enough food and housing, entertainment, Catholic Missions and a newspaper office to have good relations with them. My approval went down to about 15 or so while testing - but I was doing the tasks the revolutionaries set me. Royalists approval hasn't been tampered with - that's pretty much always 0 - they just don't like you!

Still, I've made one change - Revolutionaries Faction Standing should now increase 50 points instead of the previously set 30 points if you choose to play on after winning, to help those with especially low standing.

There was a spelling error on one of the messages (just nitpicking i guess)
At the end the faction happiness always stayed at 0

I know you're a militarist at heart - I've seen you give advice to massascre rebels! I'm generally a pacifist - but only if I've had my morning coffee!

"You can play this mission quite peacefully". Whaaaaat? Any more of this heresy, and I'll have to rethink my thumbs up!
Granny Annie  [author] 4 May, 2016 @ 7:21am
You can play this mission quite peacefully if you choose - but you'll have to appease the pirates to do that! Cheers for the vote!

I thought "chicks are generally less war-mongering"?
Thumbs up.
