I assume I am not the only one that arrived here by searching "Poland" just because I thought it would be funny to have Poland into space?

@Feldhake That is interesting. I'm betting it has something to do with the localization file. I'll look into it.

FYI this mod is somehow preventing Enhanced Ethic Tooltips from functioning. I tested by turning off each mod manually one at a time. Then tested by having all mods enabled (I use about 40) except this one, and it worked properly. You may want to investigate this, as I have several other flag/emblem mods that didn't have this effect. Hope this helps!

Poland can into space?
Lord Malvern  [author] 14 May, 2016 @ 8:42am
@Zalmoksis You are right of course. The main reason I chose the modern coat of arms is because it's the one used in the game and it had a well-defined silhouette which is really what is needed to make a Stellaris emblem out of a coat of arms. Of course the period-appropriate coat of arms also has a well-defined silhouette so it could be put into the game as well.
Zalmoksis 14 May, 2016 @ 7:37am
Compare the various variants here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Poland
Zalmoksis 14 May, 2016 @ 7:35am
This variant of Polish eagle is modern, designed in the interbellum. The one from the time of EUIV ie. the time of the Commonwealth (Rzeczpospolita) is different, more like modern "military" variant, less wide and with wings spread more upwards not sideways.

Please add Bosnia :D
Lord Malvern  [author] 11 May, 2016 @ 10:17am
@wielkicien Should be! It doesn't affect the checksum because the only scripting involved is in the localization files. I'll be sure to add that to the description though, I know that's pretty important.
ItsJustMyShadow 11 May, 2016 @ 8:04am
achievement-compatible?
Dibujor 11 May, 2016 @ 6:57am
@Lord Malvern I found where the mod downloaded :D
Dibujor 11 May, 2016 @ 6:42am
@Lord Malvern so... a stupid question... where can you find the .zip file once you download a mod? In fact, in order not to flood your comment section here, do you mind if I send you an email through your youtube channel?
Dibujor 11 May, 2016 @ 5:55am
@Lord Malvern thanks for the info. I'll download the mod and study it to see how it works. There's not much info I could find on the first steps of modding. It's as people in the forums assume everyone know how to begin and I had to guess a lot of things :). I probably end up asking you some more questions :D
Lord Malvern  [author] 10 May, 2016 @ 6:55pm
@Dibujor Yeah that's correct, for graphics mods you need to duplicate the directory structure of the game. It doesn't look like you need to duplicate the structure for scripting mods though, going into the Blorg mod's zip file you can see that there's no directory structure at all.
Dibujor 10 May, 2016 @ 12:03pm
@Lord Malvem in fact you're ahead of me, you already have a mod ;). I don't even know how the structure works. I guess you duplicate the structure and files you want to modify in a separate folder and then "pack" it as a mod and then the game "understands" it has to use that files along / instead the vanilla ones?
Lord Malvern  [author] 10 May, 2016 @ 11:12am
@Dibujor This was actually the first Paradox game I've done a mod for, so we're in the same boat! :)
Dibujor 10 May, 2016 @ 10:55am
@Lord Malvern thanks mate! I had my new symbol inside /flags within it's own folder but then ingame I had that "FLAG_CATEGORY" thing that I didn't know how to change. Thanks for that! :). Now I have to find how to put my custom portraits, flags and name list inside a mod that can be installed without the user having to modify any game source files. You can tell I'm pretty new at moding Paradox games :D
Lord Malvern  [author] 10 May, 2016 @ 10:28am
@Dibujor For the flags themselves you need to have them in a dedicated folder in order for them to show up in a separate category. In my case I included flags/eu4_emblems/ as the folder in which all image files are contained. When you do this it creates a new category containing the flags, however the category will be called "FLAG_CATEGORY." To change that you must edit the localization yml files found in the "localisation" folder (since they use UK English spelling). Within there the "l_english.yml" file contains all the names of flag categories and even includes a helpful description of how to add new ones. Simply follow the instructions and boom, new flag category with a proper name.
Dibujor 10 May, 2016 @ 1:24am
Hey there :)

How did you add the custom category "EUIV Countries"?
Lord Malvern  [author] 9 May, 2016 @ 1:07pm
@Krajzen For this game you have to open up the .mod file for your mod in the text editor and insert the following:

picture="your_thumb_here.png"

where your_thumb_here.png is the name of the image file. You must also place the image file in the base directory for your mod so for Windows that would be Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod\your_mod_here

@Skolbovske You've reminded me that I need to put up a nation suggestion thread in the discussion area. I will look into Ukraine as well. :)
si Vonne 9 May, 2016 @ 12:33pm
add Ukranian coat of arms)))
Krajzen 9 May, 2016 @ 11:15am
Hello. How have you managed to set the thumbnail? I can't do that.

In previous games I modded, first image I uploaded for the mod displayed as thumbnail. But here it doesn't work and my mod has blank thumbnail.
