Please update if you get a chance!

If you add selectable = {always = yes } above the ship name list it will work with 1.3 again.

edit the actual name list file and delete the line about being selectable, seems to work after that.

Please update! Really amazing simple mod! Keep up the good work

Can confirm 1.2.3 broke the namelist for some odd reason.
Wingstorm 4 Aug, 2016 @ 5:30pm
I think something, likely the recent updates have cause this namelist to stop working... I loaded up a recent save game for a race that uses this mod and the new leaders and ships are all spawning without any given names at all... Please help?

Please Update...I need this in my life lol

@pieGEEK All workshop content is cached in C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\workshop\content. You may have to flip through a few zip archives, but you should be able to find it somewhere in that file path.
AMOGUS 28 Jun, 2016 @ 6:32am
If you could link us to the text file version that would be great.

@Narrelama Thanks a lot, and no wonder there have been so many comments to update because I wasn't sure what else needed to be added. Haven't been playing Stellaris lately so I didn't realise the version number was out of sync, but you're right that it doesn't matter.
Narrelama 14 Jun, 2016 @ 2:48am
Excellent and wonderful mod!
(And doesn't have the many lazyness-flaws of other namelist-mods (without naming anyone).. It's marked as outdated by the manager, so if you can fix that at some point it would be nice, but I wouldn't think it mattered. Right?

Endorsed! Nice handiwork!
Dolitar 13 Jun, 2016 @ 4:29am

Nice. Just the droid I have been looking for.

Would love it if you ever made similar mods for other great classical languages like Sanskrit, Greek and such. Good job.

I shouldent be suprised I was not the only one ruling a Roman Empire
El Capitan 22 May, 2016 @ 1:03pm
@Archangel I figured out the hard way :), after 8 hours of Roman domination in the galaxy, zero achievements on the board. Great name pack, really enjoyed the variety.
Malvagor  [author] 22 May, 2016 @ 5:52am
@m4mF I believe all namelists are not currently compatible with achievements/multiplayer due to an oversight in the game, as it changes the checksum. If and when they fix it, it should work as with any other namelist mod. Stellaris also allows you to play ironman without achievements if you want to have mods active.
m4mF 20 May, 2016 @ 11:29am
is this mod ironman compatible?
Tisreece 19 May, 2016 @ 5:50pm
Crossing my fingers for Biggus Dickus to be on the name list
armzngunz 19 May, 2016 @ 5:59am
Ah ok.
Malvagor  [author] 19 May, 2016 @ 5:26am
@olgapåøya aside from assault legion being Legio I've tried to give the armies appropriate names, some are in the screenshot above. If anything feels particularly off or can be improved let me know.
@birdpleb apparently namelists do not currently work in multiplayer if only one person has it but it might be fixed in the future
true spongebob low 18 May, 2016 @ 7:25pm
Do namelists work in multiplayer if I'm the only one that has it?
armzngunz 18 May, 2016 @ 11:12am
Are armies appropriately named aswell?
Really bad sound effects... 17 May, 2016 @ 7:33am
Let the Roman Conquest of the Galaxy Commence!
Malvagor  [author] 16 May, 2016 @ 8:47pm
@Gunth Thanks!!! Mod is now updated and looks appropriately Roman :)
Gunth 16 May, 2016 @ 10:20am
You can get Roman numerals by using %R% instead of %O% ;)
Malvagor  [author] 16 May, 2016 @ 8:08am
I have also changed "Imperial Fleet" to Classis as requested by everyone. However the "1st" "2nd" etc is a variable and I don't know how to change it to roman numerals ("Classis 1st", etc is also obviously silly). If anyone does, let me know and I will change it - for now it is 1st Classis, 2nd Classis, and so on. The sample names in the race creation screen don't actually show up in game, as with all other namelists.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions!
Malvagor  [author] 16 May, 2016 @ 8:07am
Hey all, thanks for the comments. I've updated the mod with some significant improvements and the aid of some programming automation to churn out all the namelists. All Romans should now have 3 names with the Praenomen and Nomen under the "first names", separate for male and female, and Cognomen under the last names list. Unfortunately the game does not have separate lists for second names, so all females use the same 3rd name as males. If enough people have issue with this, it's possible to brute-force all the combinations into first names. I didn't do this because I was afraid of bloating the file size (there are about 12000 praenomen-nomen combinations for male and female names each already).

Ruler names (special lists for monarchies, dictatorships etc) have been similarly revamped and all ruler names end with "Augustus" or "Augusta".

Classis # @name

That's esential for a SPQR mod.

Dalek Emperor 14 May, 2016 @ 11:19am
Might actually be easier to make the second_names part be the "third" roman names (cognomen iirc) and have the first_names list be a combo of the first and second names, since weren't there only a relative handful of legitimate first names and second names?
Far-Seeker 14 May, 2016 @ 8:13am
@Archangel, while a significant amount of extra work I think combining Roman middle and last names into to the "second names" section of the namelists would be an effective work-around. Also I would like to support Yoda's suggestions about fleet and army names
Yoda 14 May, 2016 @ 7:57am
I recommend changing "Imperial fleet" to Classis. Also, the number usually comees after legio/classis so it would be "Classis IV" instad of "IVth Classis". Hope this helps.
Malvagor  [author] 13 May, 2016 @ 7:47pm
@Feytala yeah, I realise that but the problem is that the game namelists are formatted into "male first names", "female first names" and "second names", and it generates names based on that. I'm not sure if it's possible to change the name formatting. That means I can't even have a separate male and female list for last names. Maybe I'll make the "second name" a list of 2nd and 3rd name combinations, that might work. Thanks for the comment!
Far-Seeker 13 May, 2016 @ 2:52pm
Thanks I'll have to try this out!
Feytala 13 May, 2016 @ 11:09am
Noble romans mostly had three names. Like "Quintus Cossinius Afer" or "Aulus Plautius Hypsaeus" or "Gaius Iulius Caesar". The Middle Name was given to a family for success, either pointing to a physical feature "Rufus" "the red-headed" or "Crassus" "the Fat"... This was actually given to the heir as well so that the thin offspring of Crassus was still named "the Fat". The other possibility was naming them after the people they were victourius against (like "Afer", the winner against the "Africans".

So your name list with just two names all over indicates either a democratic shift or that there are just plebejans left.^^
Wingstorm 12 May, 2016 @ 8:21am
Thanks!
