"Where is that gold-plated Goof-off, Lewwwtenant Falcon?!"

I had been working on a Duke voice pack but lacked the time to continue. I'm likely to do so, unless Farkiller decides to do it first.

I'm not sure to be honest. I just got all the episodes and went through some and recorded them.

Are you planning to make anymore of the Joes? Or can you tell me where you found Beach Head and Roadblock?? I'd like to find Duke, Flint and several others and make some of the voice packs for other joe fans.

Ever since X-Com 2 came out, I've used a Beach Head Character but never had the voice to go along with it. Thanks for this, glad I'm not the only one that wanted this character in the game.:steamhappy:

Ah interesting, but I haven't started yet haven't played much recently but sure if it's high demand I could make a start.

@Farkiller Are you still working on CC? Any other character that you want to make a voice pack for? :-)
Farakill  [author] 22 May, 2016 @ 7:09am
no spin, it is a good quote but couldn't think which action to put it in. ah maybe panic? And I have noticed that custom voice packs I've made so far are less occuring than the vanilla voices, even though I have the relevant actions filled in the voice bank. For example, after a kill, a vanilla voice would always say 'kill confirmed', whereas a custom voicepack will sometimes say something which you assigned for that action in the voice bank. Any experienced voice pack modders know what I'm talking about and know how to deal with this? After seeing you guys keen on a CC voice I may consider this but it will take some time as he is in more episodes which I will have to flick through.

I like where this is going :)

Does he say, "The crowd isn't theo nly thing going bananas"?
LeMarteau 21 May, 2016 @ 6:09pm
Okay I thought you were you were using another. I didn't notice.

Indeed, when playing Cobra, having no suitable voice pack for CC breaks the immersion. It might be the only one that is a must have for this. The other characters do not have to be extra accurate. It works well.

I'll be able to check on the exact one tomorrow night, but if you have my CP downloaded it's the one that I've got assigned to him. It's just one of the vanillas... American 5 or American 6, I think, with the By the Book attitude. I think it's that he's exhaling a lot when he speaks, a trait he shares with Michael Bell's performance as Duke...there's a sort of casual growl to it. It's kind of intangible I guess, but it sounds very right with certain phrases. I also think that Breaker's works very well...there's a nasal quality to it.

Thank you for sharing that list...I've struggled with the voices a lot, and I will try these.

I agree with masterroll...CC is a totally unique voice and this style of thing is probably our only shot at that.

great mod. Would be awesome if you also did the cobra commander...

Recording new originals is a giod idea.

My personal favorites through what is currently available in the workshop are:

John Cooper for Falcon
TF2 Engineer for Wild Bill (near perfect)
MOH Mother for Low-light
COD zombie Dempsey for Leatherneck or Gung-Ho
Gears of war Cole for Roaddblock

What do you use for Duke?
The_Man_In_The_Shack 21 May, 2016 @ 10:06am
Hell yes! There are a lot of guys where the stock voices will work just fine...for instance, the one I use for Duke sounds a lot like 'his' voice I think. There are a lot of guys though, especially the ones with strong regional accents like Barbecue or Wild Bill, or like Shipwreck with the Jack Nicholson affectation, that are not represented very well. This is a good compromise solution for that problem. I'm not an audio engineer either, but I've thought that it would be a good idea to recruit people with strong accents and just record original ones. It would not be hard to get or make a list of standard phrases, and just have people read them off. Since everyone is talking over radios anyway, recordings could be done remotely.

I've tried many possible solutions for this but I wan't satisfied with the results. A stereo source poses certain problems... Personally, I prefer having the good lines even if there some music left. I can't wait to try it!
Farakill  [author] 20 May, 2016 @ 5:14pm
Unfortunatly not. I just recorded the audio as it was. Some of it I cleared up a bit in my editor but no fancy audio pro editing stuff or tools, am not that skilled.
LeMarteau 20 May, 2016 @ 4:29pm
If you do voice packs, I guess I should leave those to you! :) Did you manage to remove most of the background music?
d_valroth 20 May, 2016 @ 4:11pm
I hope you BOTH get flees!
