Just stumbled onto this mod , stellaris player for years here and a Dune junkie ,does this mod no longer work?

Good to see this thread gathering some movement after so many years (specially with the release of the new movie).

Unfortunatelly the time I had five years is shorter than ever and I think there is not much that I can contribute right now.

But tincanrocket have my total support in updating this project and I would love to reinstall the game, out this textures to use, and see how well it aged over the years. :-)

Thanks very much for the interest. I can't speak for the Captain, but I'll have a look and see how feasible an update would be. I initially gave up, as Stellaris kept changing so much with each update that the mod needed too much reworking each time a patch came out. Things *should* be a lot more stable now, though, so I'll see if I can put something together - can't promise anything, but give me a couple of weeks and I'll update here with progress :)

Heyy awesome. Dune Universe 4ever & btw for all who didn't know.. Dune movie Remake is on the way :hearter: I hope that Kyle MacLachlan has some role on it. I'm fan of Dune Books, Dune 1 & 2 Game "good times with them on Amiga Comp & Pc" & Miniseries :steamhappy: Author please update this to Current patch which is 1.4 something if i recall. tincanrocket made a absolutelly amazing job with the cosmetic changes, I am still pretty busy in the last few weeks since I am trying to open a business. As long as concern me, tincan you can merge the contents of both mods to make a great one. ;-)

Thanks for the post, Applechild. I've carried on tinkering, and have uploaded work-in-progress as a separate mod, which is on the workshops at the link below.

Most of the cosmetic changes are done, but I am currently working on adding in stuff like spice, and other special resources. I'd eventually like to move that mod over to this original workshop item, if that's okay with Captain Murray, but please do check out the choam mod and let us know if you spot any bugs or have any thoughts about changes. I keep an eye on both threads, so will try to reply quickly.

Hey, Captain. No problem at all - it is pretty slow going, but I am just about getting my head around the static portrait approach. I've been using a species mod as a template (the Hutt Star Wars one), and have been experimenting by building a Dalek race. So far, so good - if it works okay I will then try with the Dune Houses. Best of luck with the work projects.

I've spent a bit of time working on trying to create new race portrait code this week, but haven't had a great deal of success. Am off to the UK Games Expo this weekend, but will try again next week. I think I'll have more success sticking with 2D static portraits initially, as the code seems much easier to work out if I take that approach, but I'll keep you updated once I get back to work on it. If anyone has any links to tutorials and the like please let me know.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! also maybe put them under "PIR" you can get it from the pirate ships mod, but you'd have to edit several files and add slots to the pirate portrait list. I love dune, and have been waiting for someone to start a dune mod since this came out.:steamhappy:

Jade Falcon just made those awesome clothing for the Atreides House, but we are not sure how to create a race in such a way that these clothing can only be used for this specific race. Anyone have a idea how we can make this?

I actually like the ram symbol even if it is a design from the old video game. Although it wouldn't take much effort for me to make a Harkonnen griffin flag. We might always add it in as an extra so players can choose which they prefer. :)

When I started this mod, I just used the emblems presented in the 2001 Dune CCG.

I just checked the Dune Encyclopedia and they state that the House Harkonnen symbol is the ram but the Dune wikia say its the blue griffon. Now I am not sure with one is correct (or maybe both are)

can i ask why you went with the red ram for house harkonnen? that sigil is only ever used in the video games. in the books it is a blue griffin on a field of white while their battle standard is orange. not a critcism just a question. nice work as a whole.

This is a really good mod even at this early stage. I would happy to contribute some textures to this mod as long as credit is given. I've actually been doing House Atreides stuff for my own game before I even noticed this mod. :D

As long as I know they can be added instead of replacing the default races (as I read in the tutorial) but I prefered replacing instead, to keep the mod more themed.

So, I'm guessing there is a reason why these custom races can't be added to the list instead of overwritting the default races? *thus removing all other original races(or most of them) from the game. Can this be fixed?

This is great. Was always a bit annoyed that whenever I came across the Arrakis system there was no desert planet to colonise. This'll make up for that a bit.

Looks like we are working a similar art tincanrocket. I was working in a mask for the fremen, using the same mask James McAvoy used in the Dune series as model. Maybe you can integrate it with the stillsuit you made (connecting the hoses)

Last one for tonight. The Bene Gesserit - this uses resized mammalian clothing. All of the reskinned models are animated properly - I just need to work out how to make the items unique to each House.

Here's a screenshot of the Harkonnen modded clothes and hair, and in the comment below is a shot of the Fremen with a stillsuit (of sorts - it's a mammalian outfit rescaled and recoloured), and blue-in-blue eyes.

I LOVE this idea! I'm not to bothered by the family tree/vassal stuff, but love the different travel types, and would love to see a real Fremin avatar(s).

Since I really really sucks in coding I have no idea how far its possible to make this changes in the game (but all sound pretty interesting). I begging this mod making visual changes (that´s much easier) and I think it´s a good starting point.

For example, one thing I would like to accomplish (and I believe is not that complicated) was to put a stillsuit on the fremen model and paint his eyes completely blue.

Other idea was to replace one of planet types with somenthing like industrial or devasted to represent places like Giedi Prime and Salusa Secundus (maybe replace the Arid one, since we already have a desert type)

Also I could use ideas for the name list, not only names and surnames but ways to baptize ships, space stations and so long.

By the way, I implemented your changes to the guild in the mod. ;-)

The Fremen could also possibly start as an indigenous population on Arrakis? Again, no idea if it is possible to code in such things :)

It would also be great to add a new resource, Spice, that only appears on Arrakis and grants a bonus to income, leader lifespan, and travel speed, plus 'hazardous' events on the planet that may effect any mines and damage or destroy them (to represent the sandworms) - I have no idea is this is remotely possible, though.

I might be able to do new leader models and minor bits like that, but I haven't made it much farther than that with my mucking about so far - keep being sucked into actually playing the game ;)

I've subscribed to the thread and will try to find some time to help if I can - I am a bit snowed under with work atm, but hopefully I can clear a few bits and make some time.

I'm hoping as Stellaris matures we'll see more CK2 elements come in, as they would be great for the Dune setting - arranged marriages, offspring and genetic manipulation, duels, and so on. I have just loaded up your mod, and it's a great start - I made a couple of small changes to the Guild, as I thought they would be best using worm holes? I set everyone else to Warp apart from the Fremen, who got hyperlane use.

Ideally you'd want a custom start with the Empire being a bit like the HRE in CK2, and each House being a vassal, but maybe I am too hopeful that these kinds of things will make it into the game anytime soon?

tincanrocket, if you where planning in make a Landsraad mod, maybe we can join forces and improve this one even further. I know nothing about programming and every help will be welcome.
