I'll just have to use that "incomplete blocks" mod I found then. lol
And you bring up some excellent points. Omnidirectional antennas make sense on spaceships that fly around all over the place, but not on the surface, and ESPECIALLY not for antennas that communicate with something that's designed to hang in geostationary orbit forever. A well-aimed satellite dish would offer a greater range for less power, with a bonus of being more difficult to detect from less relevant directions. So why can't we build directional antennas?
