How to make the gibs work with the standard red spot when taking damage ?
the red spot that comes with the low res gibs mod
it's important for me
I would like to leave the red spot that comes in the game by default
Thanks a lot
All you can do to turn it off in the menu is the equivalent of :
cg_screenDamageAlpha_Team 0
cg_screenDamageAlpha 0
edit, you shouldn't need to set the following, but if the above doesn't work:
cg_ScreenDamage
cg_screenDamage_Self
cg_ScreenDamage_Team
are hex settings, 0xRRGGBBAA, though I don't get why they did that as the last 2 digits have always been alpha, and have separate alpha cvars too :/
use 0x00000000 for them
Please anyone advise.
If it crashes your game it's either corrupt or incompatible with other game/file settings.

Workshop items just get downloaded to the seperate workshop directory.
go to \Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\282440\691078677\
and open it up with 7zip, you can see for yourself it's just md3 (model), png (image) and ogg (audio) files.
Too many workshop items downloaded from playing on lots of servers does seem to be an issue, just delete
\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\appworkshop_282440.acf
and
C:\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\282440\
Then restart steam, Quake Live workshop items you manually subscribed to will download the latest versions again, and crashes caused for any broke auto-downloads or empty folders or whatever the problem is will stop for some weeks/months maybe even forever if you don't end up on a bad server again.
FYI, as an aside, it's exceptionally rare for any virus to cause a crash, it's not in their interest for the machine to not be working.
