Fantastic map, amazing setting. Loved this one
CarThief  [author] 29 Jul, 2024 @ 3:46pm
That one might be permanently closed/decorative. Not 100% sure as it's been a while, but I don't recall making any doors with windows openable in this map.

There should be other Laser Welders around that aren't locked up, though.
zatnik 29 Jul, 2024 @ 2:37pm
Hey, how do I open the window case with the laser welder?
CarThief  [author] 9 Dec, 2022 @ 12:17am
It's a weird/complex multi-object elevator, so uh, it tends to kill players if they, as the notes suggest, jump on it while it goes upwards or mess around too much with the sides.
It can't be helped I'm afraid, one of the engine quirks. But as long as one avoids doing either of those it should be fine.
rainbowbread [#FixTF2] 8 Dec, 2022 @ 4:44pm
why did the elevator kill me? :steamsad:
sander19864 27 Aug, 2021 @ 11:04pm
very good map, like the atmosphere.

stacking space is enough to get everything in it.

the elevator so yeah it is big that makes it easier to get everything down, but even standing still in the middle i got killed and uh opening the cabinets can kill you also.

did finish in 2 hours and 31 minutes whit a 126%.

thank you for making this one.
= Hevii = 11 Jul, 2021 @ 4:33am
Ah yeah, I found it thanks. I didn't check there because I thought it'd be elsewhere. Thank you :)
CarThief  [author] 10 Jul, 2021 @ 7:05pm
I might be misremembering, but wasn't there one in the lower section, where you ride the elevator down? If not, well, there's a lava pool there that acts indentically, too. Just chuck em in the lava, there's no penalties for doing so.
= Hevii = 10 Jul, 2021 @ 6:50pm
Hi, the description mentions an incinerator but I can't find it anywhere.
CarThief  [author] 28 Jan, 2021 @ 6:46pm
Ah, sounds like there was no issue after the most recent update to add a preview image and minor changes, that's good. I suppose the cleaning time is what i ussually clock myself when cleaning, so its kinda a semi-optimal time, guess typically you could consider it the minimum time to clean.
Skye 28 Jan, 2021 @ 5:52pm
Incredible map! The atmosphere just radiated heat! Loved exploring every nook to find trash and the detail you put into it was amazing! Took me alot longer than 2 hours, but I really do like that it takes me awhile to finish! Great work! Thank you!
Mediziner 5 Jun, 2019 @ 5:16pm
Really love your maps. :D I love the fact that they feel like vanilla maps with having MORE stuff and junk to clean up!

Friend and I have done an LPT on this one. ^^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X56l9gIN4bY Not sure if you watch YT vids but here ya go! Got more of your stuff to do LPTs on (Though at Deadman's choice, I don't do the picking. XD)
Linzombie666 9 Aug, 2017 @ 1:38am
Map complete with 113%. Stacking Images uploaded.
[T|★] Rake_Steel 8 Aug, 2016 @ 11:17am
You make the best levels.
photogirl1211 21 Jul, 2016 @ 3:39pm
I finished this awhile back and forgot to leave a review. Basically my ONLY complaint is like the previous person stated, barrel zone was on the small side for the amount of them in map. However there was a lot to make up for it. My favorite was the cabinets and make shift incinerators on the walls..it really set the "work place" mood.

I did at one point have to use Ghost mode to grab something small that had fallen in the lava (seems there's no floor covering it there..? ) Located at the beginning spawn zone..walk forward and on your left the lava off the side of the walkway (right before the water dispensor.) Was no big deal but thought worth mentioning.

Map was very well put together. Awesome lighting effects, attention to detail- very creative and evident that you took time when making it :steamhappy: I'm still working on your newest map...that one will take me some time lol. Hope to see more from you, thanks for the hard work!
CarThief  [author] 17 Jul, 2016 @ 3:50am
Ah, good to know, though there's supposed to be a second barrel zone but something happened to it, and i've been too lazy to fix it thus far... :P
Suppose if i'm not too busy with another project i really should skim through the maps and adress some issues that have shown themselves over time.

Though you can stack barrels to make them fit, ideally by stacking them on the same kind of barrel since toxic on blue barrel is a tad unstable and could easily fall over.
Lars Luron 17 Jul, 2016 @ 3:24am
I thought this was a very well-designed map. You definitely added lots of detail, and none of it seems like it was just "cobbled together" even though you combined a lot of pre-existing parts. The lighting and heat effects were good, there were extra machines to compensate for the level's large size, and I loved the huge elevator leading to the pool of molten metal. And the plates! You actually put the metal plates to practical use!
My only real issues:
-The stacking zones are kind of hard to see, the text even moreso. I didn't even notice the second crate zone in the basement until I had already crammed everything into the one upstairs.
-The barrel zone needs to be bigger, or remove some barrels. I've never found myself needing more barrel space until this level.
-No empty medkits? You have a dispenser, but it's pointless.
Definitely your best work so far. 9/10.

Re: the laser welder - thanks, I don't know how I missed that one in the cupboard. I think I'd lost track of which cupboards I'd opened!
In case you're interested I've LP'd the majority of the Viscera maps (100+ videos) and recently started on some of yours as they were the highest quality workshop maps I'd found. My ongoing LP is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfEVvB3cZpc
CarThief  [author] 10 Jul, 2016 @ 2:36pm
Hm, also seen the first part (gotta sleep so no time for the others today), if you're still wondering, you CAN ditch bodies and junk in the lava with no penalty.
Great fun just throwing them all in the lava, heh... (The lava pool is also extremely stain-proof, explosives, blood, it'll prevent it all. Above the lava pool might be an problem, though, if careless.)
CarThief  [author] 10 Jul, 2016 @ 2:11pm
Hm, there should be one or two of them available outside of the locked case, one of them i remember being in a openable cupboard somewhere in the storage room. (And in case you're wondering, you unfortunately can't open those cases.)
LeeSuss 10 Jul, 2016 @ 1:23pm
Stupid question probably - where the heck is the laser welder!? The only ones I've seen were locked into a case.
CarThief  [author] 16 Jun, 2016 @ 12:59am
Well, there shouldn't be any problems if you got the DLC, so nothing to worry about there.

All i used from the DLC was some models (like the axes, and some static decorations), some textures (for those big metal doors), and probably some particle effects.
The Renegadist 15 Jun, 2016 @ 8:30pm
Also I'm working on a WIP collection of the best of the best, I added it so I don't know when it will be showing up but if it does I just wanted to let you know!
The Renegadist 15 Jun, 2016 @ 8:06pm
I accidently downloaded this without reading that it needed DLC however I haven't run into any problems? Which things from the DLC did you add into this? Also great map, put two solo hours into it and so far it's looking like an offficial map!
Scaly_Pride 5 Jun, 2016 @ 3:59am
Its a base From Aliens Planet name Lv 426 I guess and yeh it may Be Hard for
exact Lv from the movie.
CarThief  [author] 5 Jun, 2016 @ 3:40am
Hm, i don't even know what that is, and making maps is very straining on the creativity so i doubt i could do it on demand. (I don't posses the knowlege to import custom assets either, so that makes such ideas kinda hard.)
Scaly_Pride 5 Jun, 2016 @ 3:25am
Hey author Would be Great if u made The Colony Called Hadley's Hope as a Janitor to Clean Up the Mess and I guess the map would be damn Large
A JANITOR 3 Jun, 2016 @ 2:54pm
menu pic can also be changed in any map update if ever want a new one too
A JANITOR 3 Jun, 2016 @ 2:53pm
yeah same my preview pics arn't anything special but they do the job
vcd gets a new main menu soon too so who knows the 3 pics might not fit properly in it
i guess ya could ask BlackEagle for a map pic template of an official one if really want it to look like those
eNex 3 Jun, 2016 @ 7:43am
oh.Neither do I, but pure screenshots with no effect just angled them left and right
does the job from me.
CarThief  [author] 3 Jun, 2016 @ 6:15am
Well that's because i never really make any preview images, it's not hard to implement one, but i can't really make any good-looking ones to actually implement. Atleast not ones that look as good as the official level's preview images, anyway.
eNex 3 Jun, 2016 @ 6:00am
CarThief do you need help with adding preview image in?

In my pc I don't see picture for your map.
A JANITOR 3 Jun, 2016 @ 3:29am
Haha lol woops yeah dlc is easy to forget xd
CarThief  [author] 3 Jun, 2016 @ 2:48am
Uh, sorry for any inconveniences, but somehow i forgot to add the DLC requirement (because it uses some resources from said DLC). If the map was giving you any trouble, this may have been the cause. (I really need to write that down on the todo list next time...)
A JANITOR 2 Jun, 2016 @ 4:47pm
nice
CarThief  [author] 2 Jun, 2016 @ 12:40pm
Well i updated it. The notes have the full list of changes but most important is that the amount of splats have been reduced. Hopefully this should make multiplayer stable (though chances are, it bumped the average time down by half an hour or so, nearly).

And those fires now work as weaker versions of the incinerator.
CarThief  [author] 2 Jun, 2016 @ 3:26am
Well the reason i didn't use a single giant mesh for the elevator platform was because i couldn't find anything that would look good enough when stretched out to such large sizes. And the elevator mesh didn't fit in too well with the map (though i could probably recolour it a little now, if i ever do decide to put it back in).

Maybe that i'll add more messes but i'd have to thin out the existing blood first (there's like a thousand splats and 500 items, so that's starting to strain some people's multiplayer games).
A JANITOR 1 Jun, 2016 @ 2:49pm
yeah avoid putting the j-harm under the lift it will disappear if bring the lift down onto the j-harm
idea for elevator use 1 big mesh as the floor(the normal lift actor)join the railings to it like they are now then the lift might detect and stop if it hits something at the bottom and might stop death happening its worth a try
thats a pretty cool elevator being such a big lift:)
mess on the ceiling or on top of things around the walls n maybe a few more things inside the various incinerator door hatches would add to the challenge=open a door n heaps of stuff fall out of it
just a few ideas this is a nice map:)
CarThief  [author] 1 Jun, 2016 @ 2:08pm
Well i guess the J-HARM's mostly there in case you make a mess on the ceiling, interesting idea, though, could always see if i can fit in a mess or two on the ceiling, or hidden away at heights, while working on some improvements anyway.

And yeah that elevator's pretty murderous, but unfortunately that was the best i could do given how i put it together. Touching the sides or jumping while it goes up tends to murder you (as is noted in the description, just in case). And rarely, it just randomly decides to kill you even if you don't do those two things.
Stoyan 1 Jun, 2016 @ 1:41pm
I quite liked this! The traps under the floor were awesome; tripped me up when I didn't check well enough. If I were to add anything, it would be messes on the ceiling. I found almost zero use for the J-HARM other than to stack crates. And for some reason, I died twice when taking the lift up from the lower level. No idea why. But otherwise, a very nice lengthy play.
eNex 1 Jun, 2016 @ 9:33am
right on the start, otherwise I wouldn't really mention it.

(since I'm aware that actor problem message happens after
lots of footsteps)

Oh that's the thing - can be confusing in regards to notepads
since official maps count them as garbage - so turning them
into props without any comment makes it impossible to
know that they are meant to be props.

If I would be you I would turn off physics for them or
disable picking them up just to differentiate them
from garbage stuff.

But they that's just me being being pefectionist XD
CarThief  [author] 1 Jun, 2016 @ 8:46am
Hm, i guess some of those things could use improvement, didn't think the blood would be too much, did it trigger the warning on start or after making bloody footsteps and such from exploring? I suppose thinning out the blood a little bit wouldn't hurt, though.

Guess i'll just close that incinerator door on the back, and you don't have to clean up those notepads since they aren't considered trash (though with some wiggling and rotating you can get em out). No guarantee i can find more ambient noises that suit the area, though... Personally i just turn on the radio and set it to global (so my head doesn't explode from one side being louder then the other). Doubt i can improve the cupboard doors, though.
eNex 1 Jun, 2016 @ 7:18am
Gotta say well designed map.All the details and under floor lava stream to
pipes, that was well thought out.

Things to improve are this:

Clearing - when you add something that opens or traverse try to avoid
pushing player away or minimize blocked off space. So wider corridors
or avoid tight spaces where cupboards can be opened or make
cupboards smaller or more narrow.

Incinerator back door needs either have more space (move incin. forward) or move inci.
against the wall so it's not accessable.

Another thing that I have notices is clearance of small items in metal boxes like
those paper notes - they need to be smaller so it can be taken out.

Audio:Needs more ambient sounds or something to make room feel more lively.

Overall seems to be too much blood (I got message of actors soon after
I loaded the map).

Here your map is wonderful I will actually spend time cleaning it, well designed!
CarThief  [author] 1 Jun, 2016 @ 6:48am
Hm, that could work, in combination with something spawning the same flames and sound the incinerator uses. I do recall being able to set the disposal volume's item removing speed, after all.
Not in a massive hurry to update though, but i might as well make a list of things to do later.
cannonf0dder 1 Jun, 2016 @ 5:41am
For the replicant incinerators, you could just use a simple disposal volume. should be pretty straight forward
CarThief  [author] 1 Jun, 2016 @ 1:45am
Hm, well i could always look at that later, after work. Replicating the functions of the incinerator doesn't sound too easy, but i'm sure i can find an example somewhere.
I'd imagine that splat-deleting trigger zone can indeed be quite handy, maybe i can think of a nice disposal gimmick now that splats can be safely and consistently prevented. Does seem simpler then setting up a nosplat volume... :P
A JANITOR 1 Jun, 2016 @ 1:41am
my new fire in my volcano is 2 nosplat volumes 1 to kill the janitor and the other is incinerator and 1 trigger volume with vcdebris and pawn set to that and a play sound on the object var to play the burn sound can add toggle to toggle smoke effects if want to
its easier than adding an incinerator
A JANITOR 1 Jun, 2016 @ 1:33am
report screen was fine if punchout was on general thered be a few xtra notes so yeah it worked fine for me
probly just something strange on your end

fires are pretty easy they can be done several different ways just recently i got the nosplat volumes working n they are very handy volumes can set damage classes n a few other things on them n it makes setting up fires and death volumes easy
i know my kismet looks like a big mess jus find a part of a fire i did in kismet n thats how it works jus look at the trigger touched properties vcdebris and pawn untick player only tick allow dead pawns then trigger will accept players and all types of debris:)
i saw the trigger zone ya made that looks handy for many uses:)
CarThief  [author] 1 Jun, 2016 @ 1:07am
So, uh, was there any problem with the punch-out machine, or the big report screen in the office, or is it all good? It's giving me trouble but when the developer was kind enough to give it a check it worked fine for him. If it only happens to me then i guess that's fine.

Hm, guess i'll take a look about making those fires burn stuff later, not sure how to make those nosplat zones actually work, though (i'll probably end up doing what i did with the lava pool, have it delete splats via trigger zone).
A JANITOR 1 Jun, 2016 @ 1:00am
the report screen worked fine just no notes about mess or im probly blind unless its just the punchout handler which is optional:)
as for an incinerator out of any fire jus put a nosplat volume with incinerator damage class can adjust how fast things burn
and a trigger volume and playsound for the burn sound
can look at various fires of mine like the cooking pot or the car fire in garbage night in kismet
yeah i like the lava n figured out that heat effect
nice level too so its all good:)
