is there a way we can get a hydrogen fueled version of this?
Deathwhisper 20 Aug, 2020 @ 3:52am
Sadly not working together with other Animated Objects Like Animated Gyroscopes. If i am not wrong, Nukeguard wrote in the Animated Gyros mod why this happen. I like this Reactor and would liek to use alongside with the other animated Objects.

Only the first picture is up to date. As for animation of the rotation I'll see what I can do.
Gryphorim 29 Mar, 2020 @ 6:08pm
Are the pics up to date? Can you post a pic/gif of the animation?
Vicizlat  [author] 11 Mar, 2020 @ 4:16pm
Update:
- Fixing up the rotation so it works on the upcoming update.
- Made rotation speed relative to the output percentage of the reactor (instead of having 5 fixed rotation speeds)

Update:
- Preparation for the Survival Update.

I haven't included LODs since I did the model rework. While I was testing I ran into an issue where on low graphics settings it would only show LOD models but never the main model, no matter how close to it you get. That's why I removed them until I figure out this issue.
Azirahael 29 Dec, 2018 @ 6:21pm
Did you fix up the LOD issues?

There is/was a bug where as you walk slowly closer, one of the rings with the green dots would appear out of nowhere. The distance LOD was missing a couple of rings.
Vicizlat  [author] 29 Dec, 2018 @ 5:46pm
Update:
- Small performance improvements.
Gromit 9 Dec, 2018 @ 3:16am
Really nice work, the inner rotating ring gives a nice effect. Thanks a lot
Vicizlat  [author] 8 Dec, 2018 @ 12:51pm
Update:
- Updated models with vanilal textures and removed the old ugly highlight boxes in favor of the newer method of highlighting part of the model. (Finally! I've been wanting to do that for quite some time.)
- Some changes to the models including glass parts of the big ring.
- Added an inner ring that uses a simple script to rotate with 5 different speeds according to the reactor's current output.

I truely love all your creations please keep up the great work!!
Solraven 1 Dec, 2018 @ 1:12am
@torkkar in reality things rarly scale linierly. this is why a chevy 5.7 liter engine can get 300hp at 15mpg yet you can get the same 300hp from a 2.0 liter with 22mpg and the same 300hp out of a much smaller wankel engine at 12mpg. this goes to the same reason refinerys have upgrade mods... you alwas sacrafice somthing for somthing else
Stollie 23 Apr, 2018 @ 7:14am
Lol was just looking at comments on reactors and saw the below comment - why dont you just not use it you self entitled fuckwit, he made it, he can make it however he likes.

If you dont like it, stop whining and go make your own fuckin mods!
Torkkar 8 Apr, 2018 @ 6:07pm
Ignorance & Laziness then a shame you resort to the easy way out rather than cross some eyes & dot some tee's to bring these great moddles upto space engineerse "Realistic" Standerds if you did maybe Keen would add this mod but as is the costs make no sense for its output.
Vicizlat  [author] 8 Apr, 2018 @ 3:45pm
I said "shielding" as just an example. I don't know how exactly nuclear reactors work. That's for your imagination to figure out. :)
Anyway, I am not going to argue about a couple steel plates or metal grids or whatever. If you don't like it or don't agree with the material costs or output just don't use it. I am not changing it...
Vicizlat  [author] 8 Apr, 2018 @ 4:02am
It wasn't meant to be more cost effective than a single large reactor. Yes, you can get the same power in the same space as a single large reactor but if you have the space it SHOULD be more cost effective to build the single large one.
This one is meant for those situations where small reactors are not enough and a large reactor is too much (for power and/or materials). If you need the power or you have the materials you should be going for the large reactor. And again if you are trying to squeeze a smaller reactor in a tight place it should take slightly more materials (for example shielding and stuff like that).
Torkkar 30 Mar, 2018 @ 1:53am
you realize that a single large reactor is 3x3x3 and produces 300MW & your reactor does 100MW so it takes 3 of yours which is more materials for the same power as 1 large reactor can't you boost the power output by 50 or atleast 25MW to make this cost worth it?
Vicizlat  [author] 3 Mar, 2018 @ 8:26am
That was one of the main ideas. :)
Solraven 24 Feb, 2018 @ 2:55am
mounting points seem perfect to put on back of a cockpit.
Vicizlat  [author] 30 Jul, 2017 @ 2:07pm
Being one of the first mods I made, it has been a thorn in my eye too. It will see some attention at some point but I can't say when that will be.
Hyomoto 29 Jul, 2017 @ 8:59pm
The small reactor looks and works nicely. The build stages are ugly but unfinished reactors aren't usually part of an aesthetic choice so it's okay even if it looks 'low effort'. The large reactor however, well, it doesn't look very good at all. The cartoonishly large, clearly resized control panel is ... ridiculous. I like this reactor for small ships, but for large ships I can't bring myself to use it because the oversized model exacerbates all of it's flaws.

I personally would love to see the large model get a proper treatment and fit in a bit better with the base game aesthetic, but I understand if that's not in the works. It was originally a small reactor, making a good large ship model would likely involve doing a whole new model and I'd rather see that work going into putting another layer of polish on the small one.
Vicizlat  [author] 25 Feb, 2017 @ 1:06pm
Yeah, sure you can. :)
Visentinel 25 Feb, 2017 @ 11:59am
Hi Vicizlat
May i include your reactor in my mod that features many reactors that use my hydrogen fuel made by many authors exclusively for my mod plus others ?

Vicizlat  [author] 17 Jan, 2017 @ 7:50am
You're welcome!
Btw it seems that it has been like that since I added the large ship version and you are the first one to tell me. So thanks for that, again. :)
Ace of Chips 16 Jan, 2017 @ 7:54pm
Thank you!
Vicizlat  [author] 16 Jan, 2017 @ 3:58pm
Update
- Fixed the collision meshes
- Added a second LOD for the Large Ship Reactor
Vicizlat  [author] 16 Jan, 2017 @ 3:27pm
OK, I saw the problem. I would also like to do some additional work on the models but I suppose I could do a quick fix for the collision first.
Vicizlat  [author] 15 Jan, 2017 @ 7:00am
I will check it out. Thanks for letting me know.
Ace of Chips 14 Jan, 2017 @ 8:11pm
I think your collision volumes are offset in the large ship version - on my base I can't jump over one, and on a ship I fall through it and it collides a full block underneath...
Hadrac 5 Oct, 2016 @ 10:00am
Nice, could be a fusion reactor :)
TigerMafia 19 Aug, 2016 @ 9:13am
I like your mods, keep up the good work!
Valkyria Majoris 14 Jul, 2016 @ 8:43am
its ok i hav my ships degin currently on hold cos it needs those parts but until then i'm working on a few other side projects i'v been meaning to finish for the past 2 months
Vicizlat  [author] 14 Jul, 2016 @ 8:37am
I'll think about it. Anyway I'm going on vacation so even if I decide to make it like that, it won't be soon...
Valkyria Majoris 14 Jul, 2016 @ 8:07am
mabye do the welder and grinder in a modpack where u hav the small welder and grinder tht works with the small conveyors along with a welder and grinder tht works with the large conveyors
Vicizlat  [author] 14 Jul, 2016 @ 6:32am
I agree the small conveyors are more flexible, but I can't just ignore the large conveyors. I have done a few mods to try and add a little flexibility to it. I have some ideas for a couple more as well. But I am not going to skip it completely and create such small and "unrealistic", compared to vanilla, blocks.
Valkyria Majoris 14 Jul, 2016 @ 3:43am
its just with the small ships its best to use a small conveyor system unless ur making a ship tht is designed to grind or weld things....but for me having a smaller welder and grinder on a small ship would help cos it opens alot more possibilities and it would also give people more that they can work with....
Vicizlat  [author] 13 Jul, 2016 @ 2:48am
Well, it's not impossible to make it work as you want. But then what would be the point of the larger conveyor network? Anyway if I ever make ship welders and grinders, they would probably be 3x3x2 or 3x3x3.
Valkyria Majoris 11 Jul, 2016 @ 8:12am
yeah but the small vanilla conveyors will tranport larger components wen u add the small ship mega pack and also with the azimuth conveyors as well seem to give the same effect of transporting large components without the small ship mega pack.....but i haven't got a welder or grinder i can attach them to....even if the mod u make just reduces the large ship welder and grinder down to just a 1x1x2 it should still hav the same effect
Vicizlat  [author] 11 Jul, 2016 @ 5:20am
I got you, but there is one small problem with what you want - welders and grinders need to have large ports to be able to work with all components. This means at least a 3x3 base. I can surely make them shorter, and I would if I make such a mod. Unfortunately I can't make them with a smaller base.
Valkyria Majoris 11 Jul, 2016 @ 3:10am
with the way managed to make a reactor tht is 1/3 the size of a large reactor....then i'm sure tht a welder and grinder would b no problem.....its just theres a ship design i hav in mind but it needs a welder and grinder tht is no bigger then a small ion thruster.....
and the only one i can find on the workshop is the compact tools but they only work with the compact conveyors and compact cargo mods made by the same guy and they r glitched to hell and back....plus the author of tht mod isn't going to b updating any of the mods they hav made
Vicizlat  [author] 10 Jul, 2016 @ 6:29pm
I have thought about it, but there are already the perfect "Twin Welder" and "Twin Grinder" mods I've been using since I started playing so I don't really know if I should even try something like that.
Thanks for the high praise, though! ;)
Valkyria Majoris 10 Jul, 2016 @ 11:17am
hav u thought about doing anything like a grinder or a welder mod cos dude ur reactor looks awesome
Vicizlat  [author] 8 Jul, 2016 @ 6:43am
Update:
Additional connection ports - top and bottom
Large ship/station version
Vicizlat  [author] 18 Jun, 2016 @ 9:30am
I think I understand what you're saying. It might fit top and bottom ports without looking bad. I will keep that in mind for when I do the rework and upgrade for large grid.
Captain_Crooked 18 Jun, 2016 @ 9:10am
My only major complaint is there being no ports on any of its sides, only its front and back.
Its a very conveniant shape, but with its conveniant flat-ness is the inconveniance that you would have to negate the flatness and have to fit in a pipe that will, at minimum, require a 2-block depth of space when the reactor itself is only 1 block in depth.
A sensible spot that would still fit with its aethetics, conveniances, and the like, would be if there was a port(s) on the top and bottom. Left and right sides I don't think would need one.
Vicizlat  [author] 14 Jun, 2016 @ 5:27am
I could make that happen. ;)
Seff 14 Jun, 2016 @ 5:10am
Is there any chance we could get this for large ships?
Sandboxer 14 Jun, 2016 @ 12:04am
I love the look of this reactor
mahtrok 13 Jun, 2016 @ 6:24am
Great Job on the models again :-) much more complex then your first mods, love em all, keep it up!
