For those of you that preferred the sound of this radio filter over the one provided in-game, I have uploaded the remnants of Starscre4M's old addon onto the workshop, packaged together with edits that differentiate between maskless and masked grunts, and updated HECU voice lines from newer builds of the game.
You can find the mod here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2277759591
Huh. The first mod (by Starscre4m) should still be working. It's working for me so far. I'm not the owner of that mod, so there's nothing I can really do, but I'll try to look into it.
The map seen in the video is a part of the most recent update to Black Mesa which restores a few cut maps for Surface Tension to the game. This map is the second to last map before Forget About Freeman.
Just checked the game. Mods are still functional on my end.
As far as I'm concerned, there has only been one patch since the May update, which means that this mod, as well as the first HECU radio filter mod, should be functioning properly.
If it's not showing up for you, trying heading to your games section, then checking Black Mesa's properties. The update (or the patch, I believe) included the ability to rollback the game to the Crossfire update with the BETA tab. Head over there, and set the tab (if it's not already) to "none."
This might be your problem, but I'm not entirely sure.
I didn't see it while playing it a while ago.
Now that it sounds better, I'll probably add this into the main package.
Makes sense for a warzone, and would probably makes things more authentic if they had more gear. They are the 'Harzardous Environment Combat Unit', and going into a place like Black Mesa would probably need some serious protection and tech.
Ah, I see. Sorry about that! Not the best at determining whether or not a text comment is an actual complaint or a joke, haha.
And yeah, I agree somewhat. Mainly because I know bugger all about how the military uses their equipment. Based off of what's seen in Half-Life, I think they're actually using walkie talkies?
Still, the filter makes them sound more intimidating to me. One of the best characteristics of the HECU for me.
I don't really care either way, sounds cool too.
If it's about the sound, I'm not exactly the best at creating a neato-sounding radio filter effect, and I wanted to make it so that it fell in line with the other radio filter addon.
If it's about the fact that all soldiers have a radio filter, there's really nothing I can do about that. Black Mesa only has one set of voice files for the soldiers to use, and I'm not really aware of any way to make it so that it uses both the files without a filter, and files with the filter.
Like what the fuck, not all of them are wearing masks.
@TIRED SQUID: I'd have to redownload the 2012 mod to get the files, I believe, but I'll try it out.
