Individual Arms

Arms and Shoulders is out! Consider it a more polished version of Individual Arms. That said, it is not an update so don't go switching this mod out for that one midgame, at least not without some proper preparation, nor is it a one for one remake of this mod.

There are quite a few things present in Individual arms that is not present in Arms and Shoulders. For that reason, and because I don't believe in taking down mods, Individual Arms will remain up and if for whatever reason this mod ever dissappears off of Steam, I give you all permission to share it. Just give me a shout out when you do.

@CommanderShepard153:
It's a cosmetic mod.
CommanderShepard153 24 Jun, 2017 @ 12:54pm
Lw2 compatible?
sq_paradox 15 Dec, 2016 @ 8:08am
@Spart117MC If it's not too much trouble, could you give me a quick outline of the pipeline you used for the mod: what programs did you use for editting, conversion, importing and exporting?

Not sure if you're just super busy, have moved on to other things, or just don't feel like modding (any and/or all of which is completely understandable). But if you don''t plan on fixing the bugs I reported in back August I would like to fix them myself. Thus far I've had no luck getting models out of upk's and into an edittable state by myself.

Love this mod. The only thing which would make it better is separate arm and shoulder options for gloves and sleeves.

Bumping what Hugh said.
Johau 30 Oct, 2016 @ 5:03am
Is there a way to make the kevlar arms appear on the predator and warden suits?.
Palynium 19 Sep, 2016 @ 2:18pm
Is there no way to get the rolled sleeves without the shoulder bells?
Dragon32 24 Aug, 2016 @ 10:45am
@Zodyr: See my posts of 21st June, may help make things clearer.
Zodyr 24 Aug, 2016 @ 5:00am
@Spart: Could you just add an explanation of what the different .inis do?
The names and your description above are not very helpful on that =7

Other than that, this is a brilliant mod. Been waiting for it since the game came out. Great work =)
mick 24 Aug, 2016 @ 2:46am
@Spart117MC - great work on the mod - I couldn't believe that my vanilla options were so stupid - everyone with one short sleeve and one long one???

Is there a way to make it so the kevlar options (etc) stay when you upgrade to the next tier? I have the mod that does that for the vanilla kevlar armour, but unfortunately it doesn't incorporate your sleeves - so I've got to go back to using vanilla... I've poked around with the ini files but I really don't know what I'm looking for. Great work again :D
Kuno1 1 Aug, 2016 @ 4:59pm
Well thanks for what you've done so far anyways.
Spart117MC  [author] 31 Jul, 2016 @ 10:16pm
@detective fat weedington
I'm not sure how I can help you there. There's no reason that should be happening.

@Nori Hunter
Sorry, but this mod is likely to stay as is. Doing this for one type of arm alone means I have to make four models (left/right & male/female) proceed to import them into the editor, go through and add textures to them, and make and link one archetype for each. It doesn't sound like much but believe me it quickly adds up and unlike the other mods I've made dealing with arms is hardly ever fun.
Kuno1 31 Jul, 2016 @ 9:39pm
Would it be possible to seperate the sleves so they count as a shoulder option while the armbands and stuff count as a forearm option? It would allow more combinations and make the menus less messy.

Awesome mod by the way, Before this I had to use symetrical kevlar arms, but this is way better.
BOKKI 17 Jul, 2016 @ 7:13am
The arms in this mod, as wel as the cosmetics from Kitbashes, and DLCBashes, arent showing up. Is there away to salve this?
LeoArcticaa 30 Jun, 2016 @ 7:12pm
@Spart117MC using longer names yeah, is that the problem?
Spart117MC  [author] 30 Jun, 2016 @ 7:05pm
Gonna repeat what I asked in the other thread, are you using Longer Names or Empty Names?
LeoArcticaa 30 Jun, 2016 @ 6:49pm
I think the recent DLC (Shens gift) broke the mod, cause every time I try to change ANY costume part the game crashes
Dragon32 21 Jun, 2016 @ 11:47am
@Spart117MC: Thanks for confirming
Spart117MC  [author] 21 Jun, 2016 @ 11:24am
@drake_hound
Yup.

@Dragon32
Yeah, that's all correct.

Part 2 of 2

Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\705122565\lite - Anarchy's Children.txt
Subset of Standard Anarchy's Children. Excludes kitbashed arms (e.g. those from WAR suits etc.). Arms only available for Anarchy's Children torsos.

Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\705122565\progressive version - previous tier options appear in higher level ones.txt
All arms (including kitbashes) available for armour torsos of the same tier or above (i.e. predator arms available for predator and warden armour, but not for kevlar). Not available for Anarchy's Children torsos.

Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\705122565\progressive - Anarchy's Children.txt
All arms (including kitbashes) available for Anarchy's Children armour torsos of the same tier or above (i.e. predator arms available for predator and warden armour, but not for kevlar). Arms only available for Anarchy's Children torsos.
Dragon32 21 Jun, 2016 @ 8:50am
Part 1 of 2 (stupid Workshop character limit)

So, lemme see if I have the various configuration options right:

Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\705122565\Config\XComContent.ini
Standard version. All arms (including kitbashes) available for standard torsos. Not available for Anarchy's Children torsos.

Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\705122565\standard - Anarchy's Children.txt
As standard version but all arms set-up as being part of the Anarchy's Children DLC so the arms are only available for Anarchy's Children torsos.

Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\268500\705122565\lite version - no bashes.txt
Subset of Standard. Excludes kitbashed arms (e.g. those from WAR suits etc.) Not available for Anarchy's Children torsos.
drake_hound 20 Jun, 2016 @ 12:22pm
This is a nice mod. makes assymetrical arms not needed anymore.
Did you ad all the kevlar pieces ? left and right ?
Lord Yanaek 20 Jun, 2016 @ 12:33am
@BelowTheSun you can use
Falcon's Uniform Manager as an alternative. It's more complex and currently not totally automatic to assign class uniforms but also has many more features and works well with this mod (at least it does for me).
This + Progressive Armor + Uniforms Manager = Full customization for your soldiers
Spart117MC  [author] 19 Jun, 2016 @ 5:08pm
@john.ludlow.uk
If you have your torso set to an Anarchy's Children one the arms don't show for some reason. Just change to a vanilla/mod torso.

@BelowTheSun
That mod was last updated early February while Anarchy's Children came out in March. I suspect it hasn't been updated to make use of AC's seperate arms.
Zigg Price 19 Jun, 2016 @ 3:53pm
I had the same issue as john.ludlow.
BelowTheSun 19 Jun, 2016 @ 3:23pm
Love the mod, but it doesn't seem to play well with the Character Pool Uniforms mod that I also love. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the character pool in general or just CPU, but whenever a rookie appears with a pre-set uniform from the character pool using the arms from this mod, it doesn't use the selected arms from this mod and defaults to the first option in the vanilla arms menu. It's not a huge pain in the ass to manually change the arms back, but it's something I thought I'd mention.
john.ludlow.uk 19 Jun, 2016 @ 4:52am
Weirdly, after installing the mod, I only saw Anarchy's Children arms and legs.
Spart117MC  [author] 18 Jun, 2016 @ 1:22pm
@Miau =D
Saw that. That arm was never meant for females (it's a non-pauldron variant and the female arms Kevlar F was made from never had pauldrons unlike the male version). It's been removed in the next update.

@Lord Yanaek
What I meant is that if you want the arms to act like the PA mod, meaning stuff from tier 1 shows up with the tier 2 armor, then there's a config to make that happen. As for your other question I see you've also asked that in DLCBashes so I will address it there.

@Jsleezy
I'll see if that works and get back to you.
G-Zeus 18 Jun, 2016 @ 10:44am
@d_valroth, I think all you would have to do in the code is add the proper "DLCName" and it should flag it as Anarchy DLC items (in theory).
G-Zeus 18 Jun, 2016 @ 10:42am
Awesome job! A lot of people, including me, have been waiting for something like this for a long time. You, sir, are a hero.
Lord Yanaek 18 Jun, 2016 @ 8:59am
No, not at all. This mod has a config that is designed to work in conjunctions with PA, it does not replicate it's other features at all.
Mhh, so i need to change the config file used? Seems to work out of the box with PA but maybe i don't see all the options. Or is it only to keep the individual pieces of the kevlar for T2 and T3 armors?

Really nice work BTW now that i have seen the result in-game. :steamhappy:

Any chance you can kit-bash the Resistance Armors so their pieces (torsos, arms, legs ...) can be used as options with regular kevlar and AC content. I never understood why Firaxis made them separate items with duplicate stats rather then customization.
FallenSoldier 18 Jun, 2016 @ 6:19am
Would it be possible to make all the Anarchy's Children armor pieces scaleable? For example the Tier 1 pieces compatible with tier 3 armor.
Nya =^~^= 18 Jun, 2016 @ 1:26am
Nice Mod! Can confirm the male female arm. It's "Kevlar F Type 3"
Spart117MC  [author] 18 Jun, 2016 @ 12:31am
Could you give me it's name?
K. Constantine 18 Jun, 2016 @ 12:19am
On the females, there's a male Left Arm.
Spart117MC  [author] 17 Jun, 2016 @ 4:07pm
Not sure if there's anything I can do about that sorry.

As an aside, it looks like Firaxis intended to have the torsos display names. They're named like, Black Widow, Ram, Goblin, Gargoyle. Then there's Chryssalid Hunter Vest with Spiked Shoulders.
d_valroth 17 Jun, 2016 @ 3:58pm
Query: Possible to flag these new parts as valid for Anarchy's Children torsos?
d_valroth 17 Jun, 2016 @ 2:48pm
Hell yes.
Spart117MC  [author] 17 Jun, 2016 @ 11:19am
This doesn't prevent arms from other mods. This is like pretty much every other cosmetic mod out there. This wasn't accomplished through coding, I had to split every arm in Blender. It's why the mod is 60+ megs, because there are ~250+ meshes.

Now if you mean that I do this with arms from other mods, I can't. Not right now at least. I'd have to go and ask permission to edit their assets.
Panopticon 17 Jun, 2016 @ 10:52am
This looks nice, I recommend *maybe* adding mod compatibility, if that's even possible.

Like, adding individual models for an arm set from a mod.
Spart117MC  [author] 17 Jun, 2016 @ 10:39am
Thanks for the high praise guys. It means a lot.

@Natural Causes
Well I wasn't intending to do anything more than the vanilla models, so I'd say you still have a job.

@José
There are currently no plans for Advent arms.

@Lord Yanaek
No, not at all. This mod has a config that is designed to work in conjunctions with PA, it does not replicate it's other features at all.
scoobasteve 17 Jun, 2016 @ 6:25am
Thanks Spart! Your work is awesome!

@Boats McGoats lol i laughed way too long at that. That's my life at least once a week.
Lord Yanaek 17 Jun, 2016 @ 1:21am
From description : " A progessive armors-style config for those that want customization options from previous tiers to show up on new tiers "

Does that mean i don't need Progressive Armor if i use this mod? Nothing wrong with PA but i would rather avoid duplicate features to keep my mod count as low as possible.
José 17 Jun, 2016 @ 1:12am
Hell, yess... but what about ADVENT arms?
B0atsMcG0ats 16 Jun, 2016 @ 11:24pm
*Avenger tries to take off*

*crashes back to ground under weight of tons of extra gear*

*uninstalls some mods*
Ser Lancelot 16 Jun, 2016 @ 11:05pm
*slow clap*

Been waiting a LONG time for this.
Hudson Savage 16 Jun, 2016 @ 10:31pm
You F'ing Legend, thanks so much for this! :goldyinyang:
Experiments 16 Jun, 2016 @ 10:24pm
Ha, you make it look easy to do what I was trying to do with the preorder DLC. Considering I started at zero skill and only got partway done, you'll probably beat me to it.

So. Good job, love your work.
Primal_DLove 16 Jun, 2016 @ 9:53pm
thank you. this will be a godsend for me game
