"Blind" run (although you can’t really call it that when I’d played Gig’s advanced version a little over a week prior)

Very easy having played Gig’s take on this, but it’s not a bad puzzle for beginners. Some level of spatial reasoning is required. I was gonna say how I thought the lights were a little erratic and the geometry awkward, but I think it’s more so the portal/non-portal surface placements in some areas that made the aesthetics feel just a little “messy” to me, since when I was writing this I did take another peek at the chamber to see what exactly felt a little off about it to me. Nevertheless, I do appreciate the BEE2 work, and the overall layout of the chamber is unique.

Great map thank you!

kinda reminded me one of the chander's tests. much easier ofc.

Hello HMW,

Sorry for putting this message here, but I didn't find any other way of contacting you. I hope you see this.

Long story short, I found your website, clockworkbrain.net , just recently. I'd like to play your Portal 1 maps, Manic Mechanic and Try Anything Twice, however, the downloads on your website are broken. I would love it if you would provide a working link to those maps. Portal 1 has its own charm and it's a shame I missed the community creations from back in its heyday.

Awesome puzzle. So simple yet challenging.

Great map. The logic is intriging.
bullfrog 24 Feb, 2018 @ 12:06pm
This had me stumped - pretty simple, but the layout does your brain in.
renktro 10 Apr, 2017 @ 5:33am
really good one. it took me like 15 minutes to solve it.
tu7650x 3 Aug, 2016 @ 3:43pm
Brilliant map indeed. Had to think and plan carefully to solve this one. Bravo!
AtomicRocket 6 May, 2016 @ 1:11pm
This map is brilliant. It's very simple to solve but for some reason the layout makes you think it's impossible.
DeathWish808 19 Mar, 2016 @ 2:42pm
Nice puzzle for the simplicity and minimalism. Thumbs up!

Many vertical and horizontal misdirecting paths, I think the only difficulty is here. More a circular maze than a logic puzzle. Good layout though (view of areas from other places for example), which is an indicator of good mapping skills.
Turrets Turret 5 Feb, 2016 @ 8:15am
great test
Petutski 1 Feb, 2016 @ 9:16am
Excellent brain teaser! Had to come back to it several time before the light dawned.
LB 27 Dec, 2015 @ 9:15pm
This is very well designed. Took me 20 minutes before I finally realized the solution. For some reason I really like fizzler puzzles and this was no exception. Great work!
40ozKilla 12 Dec, 2015 @ 5:11pm
This took me far longer than it should of. I was thinking of much more complex solutions when the solution was so easy I overlooked it.
SA_Zodia 16 Oct, 2015 @ 5:42pm
Like others have said, the solution is so easy it will give you a migraine.
Good job.
Tyr Anasazi 6 Mar, 2015 @ 12:21pm
nice map, keep up the good work
Chelliste 12 Nov, 2014 @ 9:42am
The trick is to resist moving the cube too soon or you'll be running around in frustration. Respawning isn't necessary unless you need to start over.
marcustheanimal 8 Nov, 2014 @ 2:55am
Now i've solved it i can't quite figure out why it did my head in at the time, so simple, hurt my head.
vioray 20 Oct, 2014 @ 3:46pm
clever and fun. hadn't played the original, to be honest I didn't even realise there were custom maps for Portal 1 (Portal 2 was already released when I finally started playing Portal though)
Thander 21 Sep, 2014 @ 5:44am
Really good and clever !
Azerty 8 Jun, 2014 @ 3:42am
I did not think it would have been hard. realy god job!
luckylluck2 15 Jan, 2014 @ 8:11am
nice! loved it :D
Traveler807 18 Oct, 2013 @ 10:43am
Such a simple solution, but so hard to see it. Liked this very much:)

Flup 26 May, 2013 @ 3:59am
Oh wow, this one is so simple, but it took me so long to figure it out. I haven't finished Try Anything Twice so I haven't played P1 version yet. Very nice puzzle design, I am surprised how this test took me longer than other maps with more elements. You are my next favourite level designer, I hope you will make more maps (for both P1 and P2)!
Spacesuit Spiff 21 May, 2013 @ 8:39am
Excellent work. How do you learn to make maps this effectively styled? My specialty is having a series of rooms that need to be completed multiple times in multiple ways, but I wish I could make them look as simple as this.
Velnairi 6 Mar, 2013 @ 6:39pm
I recognised it immediately, took me awhile to remember how to do it. A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG WHILE.

Yes, this shows how the cube will die from the fizzer and you will not. Nice map
HMW  [author] 13 Oct, 2012 @ 10:10am
@Columbus: I have added some non-standard items to the editor. A pack of these will be released on thinkingwithportals.com soon.

@Gig: I think "Online" means just "Signed into friends". I'm not always signed into friends when I'm mapping.
Akiva 11 Oct, 2012 @ 7:37pm
Easy map. I needed one like this! (p.s. what are those square lights I see in the schematics? I don't remember them from the editor. Maybe I was missing something.)
Gigo 11 Oct, 2012 @ 12:52pm
On Steam, you were online 23 hours ago, but you just posted a comment right now?
HMW  [author] 11 Oct, 2012 @ 12:51pm
Small update; I slightly re-arranged the white walls near the exit, so it is no longer possible to place portals there from the lower level.
(Finally managed to solve the fizzler pole situation.)
Gigo 6 Oct, 2012 @ 8:45am
Nice, but I felt like the solution needed more steps :D
Manifest Breastiny 16 Sep, 2012 @ 3:43pm
Very impressive. Lots of back and forth movements required, great work!
HMW  [author] 16 Sep, 2012 @ 11:58am
heh... I planned to remove some of those upper white panels, since you're not supposed to snipe-portal up there :)

I'm holding off on updating it though, since I'll loose the animated fizzler poles. (Still need to make a workaround for that.)
josepezdj 15 Sep, 2012 @ 11:27am
Indeed I completely recognized this puzzle from Try Anything Twice (lol... I just understood the name of this map right now!!). So good memories! Thanks for mappnig master! I recorded the solution:

Fallen One 5 Aug, 2012 @ 7:27am
Took me sometime. Looks simple, is simple, but somehow, it still game me that "AHA" moment (and made me feel stupid)...Those are the best kind of puzzles. Thanks for creating. When can we expect more. Please make more and showcase your tools.

Harder to invent than finding the solution I guess!
Moth 25 Jun, 2012 @ 7:33pm
Yeah super easy to over think what you're doing in this. Amazing test chamber. Kudos.
HMW  [author] 4 Jun, 2012 @ 2:22pm
That's kind of the point of the puzzle: it looks more complex than it is :)

I agree that it's a bit big (the original Portal 1 version is a lot smaller) but that's mainly because everything has to be made of these huge blocks. Kind of like having to sculpt a kid-sized sand castle with a JCB. (I tried smaller versions but the design just didn't work out.)
Professor Portal 2 Jun, 2012 @ 4:42pm
Yes...it's very easy to overthink it.
meowy o.o 30 May, 2012 @ 3:01pm
SMALLER
Make it SMALLER
Le Petit Mort 24 May, 2012 @ 6:30am
It's very easy to overthink this one; I very much like the design of the map.
Xowman 24 May, 2012 @ 1:02am
Simplemente genial. Mil gracias.
Merkaba48 23 May, 2012 @ 12:36pm
Easier than it seems, requires a bit of portal-wall hunting.
Evil Blue Monkey 23 May, 2012 @ 9:41am
Few elements, big result. Excellent work! It took me some time.
