I was stuck on this one for ages, but eventually was able to solve it once I realised you could use the surface in the exit area to funnel yourself into the exit area It's a neat little puzzle for sure

extremely easy for me, I only gotten a bit stuck on the last part untill i realized that i can grab the cube through the mesh and I flung it though( not sure if it is intentional or not)

Spent ages yesterday on the final move (the one with using the funnel crossroads to get to the last area) and got nowhere. Today I loaded the level and did it in 10 minutes... shows the importance of taking breaks every now and then. :P

Nice last move :-)
bullfrog 11 Nov, 2022 @ 2:32am
It's was really good to play this one again. I remembered, or re-thought of, all the moves, apart from one, so I was stuck for quite a while. Have another

Fantastic map. Very creative. Thanks

Jeez, that one stumped the hell out of me. Playing through the workshop introduction playlist right now, and I think this has been the most interesting one yet. Awesome stuff :celeste_strawberry:
StackSmasher789 23 Apr, 2022 @ 2:28am
Very nice puzzle. I actually got the cube stuck onto button at an awkward angle and solved it accidentally but intended solution is waaay cooler
justdoitlater 1 Apr, 2022 @ 10:28am
pretty cool chamber, but when you manually move the cube on the other side of the fence it can glitch through when you want to move it through the portal, so i had to get the cube back behind the fence again
SpielSatzFail 30 Dec, 2021 @ 3:49pm
Not only the way to get to the exit area but also how I am supposed to bring the cube there surprised me. Funny chamber :-)

Good one!

@PeterLucas: Thanks, I’m flattered that you added this one to your favs! I’ve actually been tinkering around with this puzzle and I might see if I can remake it in hammer
PeterLucas 1 Dec, 2020 @ 10:05pm
Awesome! For some reason, you really had me puzzled towards the end. Added to my favs! Here's my blind playthrough: https://youtu.be/ZsRfn4TL01A

@Bullfrog: Aw! Thanks for playing! I've got a fondness for this older test chamber. It marked a bit of a turn in my design towards the better. And I think it holds up pretty decently.

Well done on rescuing the cube!
bullfrog 13 Nov, 2020 @ 4:28am
Just watched the video; I'm glad you got rid of 'that bit' ;)
bullfrog 13 Nov, 2020 @ 4:08am
Loved it; definite thumbs up. I’ve obviously played maps that are cleverer than this, but this one really made me smile as the solution unfolded. Here’s how I redid it after looking at your last screenshot ;)

@RedSilencer: Thanks! Going back through my comment history I remember you gave some useful feedback for this one. I guess I was married to the entrance/exit rooms but the aesthetic feedback was useful for future chambers. Thanks for playing through again.
RedSilencer 27 Sep, 2020 @ 5:48am
Superb

@RedneckTexan: Hey, thank you so much, that means a lot!. And while I can't quite manage to make two a day, I do have about three maps on the cutting room floor that just need that final level of testing before they're released into the wild. So keep an eye out for that.

@Aneonen: Cheers! Even though this is an older puzzle I'm pretty happy with how it holds up. Thanks for playing through.
Aneonen 20 Sep, 2020 @ 8:42pm
Nice puzzle! That last move of using the final area's surface to get yourself into the funnel rather than travel there directly was a clever subversion of expectations.
RedneckTexan 20 Sep, 2020 @ 7:58pm
Dude, I gotta say ........ after Angel Dust I'm playing through your entire workshop ....... and every one of them are badass. Great puzzles ...... Clean design ...... Well Lit ......

After all the dark and simple garbage I've been getting off the front page lately, This is so refreshing.

Thank you for your efforts.

IF you dont mind can you please kick out about 2 of thsse every day forever? :-}

Hey buddy, long time no test. This one's left me scratching my head, but I refuse to look up the solution! Great atmosphere, loved the beginning intro section. I'll update you when I figure it out! :p2cube:
levitatingspleen  [author] 7 Sep, 2016 @ 5:08pm
@Fynnick Hey! Thanks for giving this one a playthrough. The idea of the chamber was to find unique ways for the funnel to interact with the other elements, so I'm glad that that aspect holds up. Oh and The cube thing was updated, so the video is slightly out of date.

As for the entrance and exit sections. Yeah, you're right, they don't serve any real function outside of adding more filler between the player and the test. Might be that I'll find a way to integrate them into the puzzle, or just remove them.

Thanks for the feedback!
Fynnick 7 Sep, 2016 @ 11:08am
Gotta say, some genuinely fun and smartly laid out puzzle patterns. Confusing the player with the requirement of the funnel when it needs to be simply carried was great. Not sure if throwing the cube on the other side as in the video was the intended method, because i used a funnel to take the first cube out.

That said, the puzzle could do with better entrance/exit placement. For example, with Mevious' Rendezvous, the first part of the chamber serves as isolated learning to understand the mechanics of his puzzle. I didn't find it to be the same with this one.

As for the exit, having a clear goal, personally, is better than obscuring it and leaving the player to try and figure a away out of the situation (unless that is your intention).

That's it, great job :)

This was a really good puzzle. Enjoyed it a lot. Played it a while ago, but only just got round to posting on YouTube. Thanks for posting on http://reddit.com/r/portalmaps (and sorry the spam bot loves you so much =P)

@RedSilencer Thanks for the critical assessment. Just to address a few of your points, I assume when you recommend aesthetic changes that you're referring to the entrance/exit rooms? Or do you think there are other superfluous elements in the test?

As for challenge, this was designed more of the fun-sized snickers variety, something light and breezy. If you're looking for the meat and potatoes of test chambers, I'd recommend playing through Sleight https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=258573973 if you're so inclined of course. Once again thanks for the feedback.
RedSilencer 18 Jul, 2016 @ 4:50pm
Not bad, not good. The route is fairly decent and the reuse of the available elements is a good thing to strive for. I would recommend some minor aesthetic changes in favor of a minimalist design, but overall this is at least a legitimate puzzle. The location of the entrance and exit is questionable. Elementary and simple, but kudos for a solid design.

@isforshooting Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed my tests so far! I try and emulate the same design philosophy of the original game in these chambers. It's good to see that it carries through. I'd be happy to give your chambers a look. You can expect some feedback soon.
isforshooting 18 Jul, 2016 @ 11:44am
Saw this on Deathwish's yt channel and was impressed. I played two of your most recent submissions and have now added the rest of your puzzles to my list. Enjoyed them all so far. They definitely tap into the gestalt of how portal puzzles should be. Would you be willing to try two of my most recent submissions and give feedback?
levitatingspleen  [author] 14 Jul, 2016 @ 4:56pm
@DeathWish808 Thanks for the feedback and walkthrough! I find it's always valuable to have a second pair of eyes look over the map, and see how it holds under scrutiny and/or if the chamber encourages a logical progression. Thanks again!
DeathWish808 14 Jul, 2016 @ 4:14pm
Very good one! Not too hard and certainly not too easy. Very well put together and I don't see any issues based on my run.
