Just an FYI for those wondering, this bug was fixed by -bg- in Highlander a while ago, so if you have Highlander you don't need this mod.

no, ammo as weapon mods have already replaced all your ammo with weapon mods variant, you need to add them back manually with console commands

I'm a bad person and messed up. I started a campaign with both this and Ammo As Weapon Mods, and right now my AP rounds don't work (equipped as mod). Is there a safe way to back out of one or both of these mods to restore functionality?

nope, you need the mod author to use properly use the base game ability

some modded weapons might forgot to add HotLoadAmmo or implemented their own copy of that ability, this mod will not affect those weapons.

Well, this sorta works, but I think I may have found something it doesn't fix. If your soldier is using both a primary weapon and a pistol, the ammo type seems to only apply to the pistol and not the primary.

no, it can only detect soldier rank abilities in strategic layer so it have to be a squaddie ability

@Redrumm yes it is included in Highlander but in Wotc version, not vanilla one so I think this mod is still usefull for base game. Anyone can confirm ?

Oh no I didnt change the ini but maybe some other mod did fix it. Effects do still work though but I'll keep a eye out for missing ammo though....

are you actually using ammo pockets solely by ini change? Some other mods that adds ammo pocket for you might have included this fix.

Also the highlander fix is fixing a different issue, where equipping ammo in ammo pocket and only less than maximum number of utility items can cause the ammo item to go missing sometimes.

So the Highlander has this now: "Fix Loadout utility items when unit has an item equipped in the Ammo Pocket (#99)"

Is that what this mod provides, or is this still necessary?

My ammo isn't being applied, like, at all...I'd slap ammo in the ammo slot, but on the tactical map, hovering over the weapons doesn't show the ammo loaded. No Bluescreen extra damage, no chance of setting 'em on fire w/ Dragon Rounds.

I've erased my config and reloaded to no avail...

in the community highlander we are rolling the features provided in tons of utility items there, I will add the fix to it if the bug is still present. And I will make a standalone after that is done.

Hey, just a question, but does this mod cause issues when you research teh Codex Brain Shadow Project? When I did in my playthrough it stopped the scanning, but the cutscene did not trigger. The Decrypt Codex Brain Shadow Project was unlocked however. I was just curious if you knew anything about this XD

I think this should cover almost every custom classes on the Workshop, including Sparks.

If not, see the XComClassData.ini file from that custom class.
LongWar Perk Pack is an example.

found the cause of the bug, it's due to the game thinks the ammo pocket item still belongs in the utility slot, there's a check if it's in the grenade pocket and not add them into utility but no checks for ammo pocket, the overwrite is on a utility class so it might cause big incompabilities, so I am now working on the fix in the old TONS of utiltiy items mod (which will be updated with additional features)

:/ it seems the ammo slots if still bugged despite firaxis "fixing it", it might not be a complete fix and that explains why it's not in the patch notes, welp I will go back to fix it with my old utility items mod tthen.

@ADVENT Avenger, yep. That's what is happening with me whenever I try and swap out the ammo sitting inside utility slots without removing it from the ammo slot.

What I've come to learn is a *surefire* way of not losing your ammo when you see it "duplicated"...remove it from the AMMO slot, clicking on the upper right X.

The ammo then goes into your inventory just fine and the utility slots reset just fine; add ammo back to the ammo slot and you're good to go.

I noticed this happening with me *right off the bat* because I had edited the .ini to give me an extra utility slot from the start, a'la Predator Armor (because I freakin' hate the Predator Armor and would just as soon as skip the tier)...boom, ammo issues until I figured it out.

Now it's just a minor hassle removing the ammo and putting it back...WAY better than losing them!

For me, mod worked fine till I upgraded to Plated Armor. The extra utility slot came with duplicated ammo. Behaves like @ADVENT Avenger said.
