Good news everyone: Pilot not suicidal anymore - no more crashing at mission-start. Also the enemy AI has been tweaked again. Sorry for the inconvenience. Many ARMA updates have direct influence on the script behaviors thus messing up the mission balance.

That is super broke, over a dozen missles launch right at the start and the mission fails almost instantly.

not playable because of ai suicide diving into the ground. Inrease 200+m order works once only you can't increase flight height more than once. Decreasing loitering distance makes your ai dive into the ground. Could be a nice mission.

Pilots suicide dive into the drink and the enemy becomes some AA mech and fires a million missiles and you die in the 1st 10-20 seconds.

Enemy AA shoot all of their rockets basically in first 60 seconds. Makes it kinda hard to survive.

Really fun scenario to play if you haven't gotten into real action with this gunship yet.

There's one solution I found for preventing this AI bug from ruining the scenario:

It happens quite often (at least for me) that the blackfish dives down straight into the water whenever you pick a standoff preset or changing the loiter range (it even tries to dive down as soon as the scenario starts). To maintain the ordered altitude, you have to order the pilot (with the scroll menu ofc) to drop or increase 200 meters in altitude. You have to do that at least once everytime you change the loiter range or standoff preset.

Hey is there anyway the blackfish script used to auto orbit could be a stand alone to use in other scenarios? For exaplme in dynamic ops so one of us doesn't need to fly it.

Still I think the distances are a bit excessive. I mean from a realistic standpoint. AC-130's don't fire from those distacces in real life. If there's an AA threat infantry troops on the ground or armor takes care of that before the gunship comes in. I think not only would this mission be more realistic but also more fun if there was a part where a special ops team has to take care of AA and then the Blackfish finishes off the rest of the troops. Or perhaps take out the AA with help of a Wipeout.

Hi CyclonicTuna, use 40 mm APFSDS and lock on to the tigrises. Then you can hit spot on from 4.5 km. For the aa infantry use 105 mm HE and lock on to any vehicle that is close to their position and then fire at them. Also possible from 4.5 km. You can finish the mission without a single aa missile being launched.

For the sake of this mission. Remove the AA, or give me some other way to destroy it because its nexs to impossible to hit anything from that redicilous distance. I mean the max range on the weapons goes up to 2400.

Fun mission. One problem is that the infantry are demigods haha. I have fired 300 20mm rounds at one person and they are still running around. There are definitely some hit point issues. I also found after 45 minutes that I thought I killed everyone. I parachuted out and found one guy in/under a building and one guy in a building. Hard to kill them when you cannot see them.

I really have fun playing though.

For optimal minigun engagement go in close (loitering pattern "standoff AP", select in scroll menu) and tell the pilot to fly "Slow". Enjoy :)

Hi Rucker, thanks for your feedback! Yes, stabilization of the camera would be nice. Zeroing and speed compensation though can be achieved by locking the targets. 40mm APFSDS and 105 mm HE can reach out the full 4.5 km initial engagement range (no manual zeroing needed). The trick with infantry is to lock a nearby vehicle (can already be destroyed) and you have auto zeroing and speed compensation for your rounds. Only the minigun needs full manual compensations.

Wonderful scenario! Now if only BI had made a more worthy aircraft, one with zeroing above 2400m, stability assist, and speed compensation. You know, only things that a gunship from the future should have, things that current gunships already have...
