There's one solution I found for preventing this AI bug from ruining the scenario:
It happens quite often (at least for me) that the blackfish dives down straight into the water whenever you pick a standoff preset or changing the loiter range (it even tries to dive down as soon as the scenario starts). To maintain the ordered altitude, you have to order the pilot (with the scroll menu ofc) to drop or increase 200 meters in altitude. You have to do that at least once everytime you change the loiter range or standoff preset.
I really have fun playing though.
