This mod it still functioning perfectly fine for me.If you're having issues, try moving the mod to the top of the mod list.
I don't have Retold yet. I probably will be porting some of my mods over when I do get it.

Looks a bit too symmetrical... Can you make the farms look a bit more "fluffy" and natural? The rows are too straight, every plant is identical etc. Thank you and keep up the good work!

I didn't see that there was a special effect when you developed Scared Cats, so I was extremely happy when I saw a little black cat roam each one of my farms. Thanks for this one man! Currently subscribing to some of your mods, hope to see more

So I love this little mod. It's great, really. But holy shit does it cause the game to lag if there are a lot of farms around :( which the Ai seems to love doing.

I have now updated the mod so it is less taxing on the hardware. It doesn't look as nice, but it's still better than before and it won't drop your framerate.

The files for the old version are still included and if you don't mind the frame drops, you can switch back to it by replacing "world a farm grass.brg" with "world a farm grass HighPoly.brg" in the [AoM folder]\mods\Farm Upgrade\models\ folder.

It doesn't, and this is logical, as it is an RTS, not a 1st or 3rd world game, the closest you will get to an LOD, is in the Vanilla game, in "Low Poly" mode.


The FPS drops because you are rendering more objects, when zoomed in, less are rendered.

It's possible by using/making the center attach-point have a cat model walking around the radius of the farm (like the dock seagulls in a way) as for making it a sep. unit and having an AI to do that is indeed impossible, and impractical.

I didn't touch the LOD settings, besides I don't think AoM's model format allows for LOD.

I don't think that's possible. If it is possible, it would be very complicated to make: it would require creating a seperate unit for the sacred cat and program its AI to go from farm to farm.

What if sacred cats only added 1 cat to each farm, instead of every bush, and it walked around the entire farm?

A long time ago as a kid in the editor I moved the grass and bush objects on to the farms without any drop in framerate. Also do you have a LOD set on them? When zoomed in close my fps goes back to 60, when zoomed out thats when the fps drops.

Hmm... You're right, if there are more than 8 farms on screen, then the framerate starts to drop. The upgrades don't seem to make a difference though.
I have tried cutting the triangle count in half and that seems to have stopped the frame drops, but it doesn't look as nice.
I'll continue working on it and I will update the mod soon.

yo with a GTX 970 my fps goes from 60 down to 30 when I have a lot of farms lol. Nice touch though.

I tried to keep the triangle count low, so I'm not sure what else I could do to be low-end PC friendly. I could still look into it, what are your specs?

It looks awesome, but, I dont have the best PC and when I build like 8 farms next to each other my FPS drops to half and even more with every upgrade :/

I got a Bug where i have a line on my screen when im Placing farms. It even moves up and down when i move the farm. Any Idea why?

I just got the artifacts in a random map game. One of the models might be somehow corrupted. Anyway, don't worry about it :)

I know they have a weird bug when placing them in the editor where it looks like there is a sandstorm, but I haven't noticed it when placing them while playing a game. I'll look into it.
Yeah, I'm not 100% satisfied with the current version of flood control either, I'll play around with it some more.

Love it :) But sometimes I now get weird artefacts when placing farms, maybe that was in the previous version too though? Love the new fences but if you pushed them a little more inside one would be able to see the selection box better :) Anyway just some minor nags I guess, overall great job!!

Changes:
- fixed hovering irrigation water bug
- added detail to flood control barriers
- added detail to Winter Havest plants
- added variety to sacred cats so they aren't all in sync
- evenly spaced dirt mounds for Plow

It was a silly thing, in the AMP menu, I needed to check the Conform to Terrain checkbox.
