I got the objects with replaced frames to read their vanilla frame files by changing <frame> to <frameIndex> in the animation file. The USCM (marinesign) had to get its frame file patched, because the vanilla frame didn't include colors. Having trouble getting it to work though, it keeps vanishing when I color it. Maybe I patched it wrong. XD I also had to patch the frame for tribalserver because it had the wrong size dimension for the png. The devs messed that one up, LOL. XD Making the objects use their vanilla frames and patching what's needed should help decrease the chances of conflicts with other mods. There's also bunch of other paintable objects that haven't been added yet so I'm going to add them over time with updates once I upload the mod. :) And even though Paint Gun has never been on Steam, the mod was still around and it's getting updated and getting some things fixed. Paint Gun Reloaded is still a perfect name for it. :steamthumbsup:

Here's a brilliant idea: call it Paint Gun Reloaded. On second thought it may be pretty dumb, so call it whatever. It never was never on Steam so simply Paint Gun may do.

Silver Sokolova's Betabound does bring a bunch of old content back that are adapted to the newer versions of Starbound. You might like that mod. And you also might like Starbooze Reborn and Bees Reborn by 1100Ross. They are beta mods revived for the the current version of the game. :D And thanks! Once I get it back up and working so it doesn't conflict with other mods, I'll send you a friend request so I can list you as a contributor when I upload the mod as Paint Gun Revival. :steamthumbsup:

Ah, it makes sense. Perhaps they changed the naming at some point or I accidentally messed it up. Sure, you may do whatever with the Paint gun thing.

I actually have good memories of the pre1.0 Starbound. I made a mod that brought back some of items, but they were more mostly cosmetic. It's pretty neat if someone brought the old progression back

Anyways, I know you don't mod anymore, but would it be okay if I revived the Paint Gun mod? I never found another mod on the workshop that lets you paint furniture like the Paint Gun does, and it's vital for not only this mod (one of my favorites BTW) but for the base game and other mods with paintable furniture. I'd like to fix it up with Silver and Ross's help and release an updated version onto the Steam Workshop and credit you as the creator of the mod. Either that, or I can give you all the finished files and all you would need to do is to upload it to the workshop, no other work needed. :)

I looked more at the files in Paint Gun, and I think I know how to fix it. Silver Sokolova (Betabound) and 1100Ross (StarBooze) have also noticed why the mod may be conflicting with Betabound's vending machine patch. The frame files replacements for objects in Paint Gun mod aren't using the standard 0, 1, and 2 suffix numbers, but are instead using 1, 2, and 3. When both conflicting mods are installed, the crash says there's no such frame "black.0" for vending machine. XD 1100Ross suggested I either delete the replacement frames in the mod to go back to vanilla, or rename the frames back to using 0, 1, and 2. Betabound is a mod by Silver Sololova that adds a bunch of beta version content back into Starbound. It too patches the vending machine and leads to a conflict, though the crash seems to reference a missing frame (black.0). I just removed the vending machine files from the paint gun mod because I myself haven't touched mods in a while and didn't know what else to do to fix it. XD

Haha, I dont even know what Betabound is... Sorry, it's been like 9 years, I dont remember how Starbound modding works like at all. Your best bet would be to open PaintGun files and either delete the problematic objects or try to fix them somehow.

Hey, if you are still active, there is an issue with the paint gun mod badly conflicting with Betabound. I assume you are the author of the paint gun too since objects in this mod also need it to be recolored. There is an issue with patching the vending machine, and it conflicts with Betabound in a way that makes the vending machine crash when I spawn one in and try to place it, and Betabound's sb_humanbunker also crashes the planet when I try to visit one, because it uses the vending machine. I rely on both mods for different things, and I want to be able to use both together. Any chance that you could update Paint Gun when you get the chance so it won't conflict with Betabound? Thanks! :)

Actually, it turns out it was in the mod. I did not realize the morphable bricks change that much when painted, but it turns out that painting them red makes it look like that.

i actually had to check the mod files; if you mean music box specifically, it should be from silent hill 2.

i don't really remember which track plays on which object so i'll name all the tracks just in case:

creepy creatures and deadly flowers (both from addams family values on SNES)
dont starve main theme (not dont stave together)
temmy village (from undertale)

Would be great that you could allow someone to continue this mod, it is awsome, i would love to see bathtubs and pools, also it would be hilarious to allow most of the decoratives have noclipping or being able to be used in the "Wall layer" Like all the curtains to be able to put the bed in front of it.

I hope you do really. It's an awesome mod. Would be cool with some more tiles/walls/decors... and weapons with higher tier than 7.

there's always gonna be conflicts within mods by different people, usually whichever mod comes later should be fixing his filenames, seems like common sense. i had to fix a few conflicts with other mods when i was still developing this, it takes like 5 minutes. i really don't understand why u make such a big deal out of it.

I stepped back and rethought things. I realized that I was being super dumb and inconsiderate. This mod has 11k subs and they've probably made a ton of builds using it, and what I was thinking of doing before would have caused a stupid amount of problems for an insufficient amount of gains. So, at this point, my current recommendation for ppl having conflict problems with the witchhat item (or any other item conflict with stuff in this mod for that matter) is to make a personal copy of whatever other mod(s) has a witchhat item and fix those instead. Though, there doesn't really seem to be any item conflicts (or any other error) besides the witchhat. In short, this mod should not be changed much, or at least not in ways that would cause issues for the subs it already has. (It was really hard for me to settle on this answer, cos I really prefer editing/fixing things instead of letting even potential problems be. But, I guess sometimes changes aren't the right answer.)

as far as i remember i have castlevania prefix for about 90% of all objects.
not the items though, which in retrospect is kinda dumb.

also macros are really helpful when you need to edit 500 files. as well as find and replace function.

This mod only conflicts on the witchhat, as far as I know, but I've been taught by the nice folks on the Starbound discord that using prefixes is good practice so I figured I'd make an easy way for ppl to add prefixes to their mods if they didn't already have them. It, uh, well it seemed like a good idea at the time, but I guess it might be overkill.

but seriously im not sure what you mean. are you saying there's lots of conflicts with other mods? if there's just one witchhat item, then it's quite easy to fix. what do you mean by fix the entire mod?

Since I have the time now, I've decided to use the witchhat item name conflict as an excuse to make a crude/simple Starbound mod fixer of sorts. Just a simple thing to automatically add prefixes where they're needed to prevent conflicts, since a lack of prefixes is very often the cause of a mod conflict.

So anybody reading this, please, for the love of all that is holy, don't try to fix this entire mod by hand!

I have more patience than most and a high tolerance for boredom by repetition, but there is way more stuff that needs prefixes in this mod than even I have the patience to fix by hand. Don't torture yourself like that. I'll have this auto-prefixer thing working by the end of August, barring any unforeseen problems.

So, it turns out that steam workshop mod # 781725259 (Witch Hat Mod), steam workshop mod # 1546609396 (Starbound Halloween Mod), and steam workshop mod # 729584215 (Castlevania) all have an item called 'witchhat'.
