Check out my new mod "ED-EnhancedOptions"
It adds a bunch of options to the mod config menu, one of those being for plants to grow 24 hours a day.

I now view this mod as depreciated and am not intending to update it as its functionality has been taken over by "ED-EnhancedOptions".

Lightning strikes at night will interrupt the plant's rest period and spike their growth for a fraction of a second, so what is the restriction that has to be removed for plants to grow at night that isn't based simply on light level?

I guess there must be one if you found one to remove but the light produced from lightning interrupting the rest period suggests that the rest period is based on light level rather than a period of time plants are flat not able to grow being coded into the game.

Because photoperiodism is a thing. Simply put, plants need rest periods like other complex organisms. Some can make do without with only minor consequences.
Given the setting of the game, gene manipulation might've done away with that inconvenience

id love to download this but as it depends on another mod im not willing to. If this mod could work by itself on its own without having to install CCL then i would happyily download and use it.

I think that [H.C] JBonkerz is right, this does seem to have a weird effect if you are just doing normal farming. I am getting very low yields from traditional farming.

My plants that are not getting light at night start dying right at harvest time. I assume this is because it is using the night time to now factor in to the lifespan of the plant.

There is, I'm not entirely sure which mod does it, but it adds switches that function based on time of day.

The fact that there's currently no way to make Sun Lamps (which account for more than half the electricity usage in most tundra bases) automatically turn off at night makes this mod kind of necessary if you do all your farming indoors.
