Is there any way to force IA to use it? like the vanilla "group player enableIRLasers true;" command? trying to put together a night mission and really could use it

I have no plans on adding Ace support, as Ace has it's own IR strobe mounting functionality. I don't use Ace myself but I believe that you need an IR strobe in your inventory to get the option in the self interaction menu.

Ok. Any way to make this strobe just stay on instead of blink? I notice the wider-angle IR lights (as opposed to gun-mounted narrrow-angle) seem tied to specific goggles. If you know of any IR light mod, even that's not 360 degrees like your strobe but still reasonably-wide angle, and not tied to specific goggles, please point the way. Even a wider-angle IR gun light would work, actually. Thanks for your time.

Not with this addon as it's written specifically for players. You might be able to find a script that will work with AI on the BI forums though.

I didn't say it wouldn't work without a time of day req. I said the vast majority of people want the day req so they don't have a pointless option in their action menu all the time when there is no use for an IR strobe during the day. There are currently 2513 people subscribed to this mod and in the last year only two people have had posted about this issue. It is unfortunate that for some reason my addon isn't working for you. But as you have said, you are a programmer and have written your own code, so you should have no further need for my addon.

I tried 9 helmets in vanilla with only this mod, 3 maps, 5 time of day settings. Nothing. It showed for ten seconds for my buddy and then went out.

Just tested and the strobe is still functioning as intended. If you are unable to get it to work it is due to one of three things, you are using the helmet version of this addon with an unsupported helmet, it is too bright out and needs to be darker, or there is a confliction of some kind with another addon. The day light check was added because it was the most requested feature during the testing of this addon and will not be removed. Having the IR option in the action menu during the day is a pointless clutter. There are no bug fixes needed on this requirement as it is hard codded into Arma, it's what turns on the street lights and the night bird sounds. Hopefully you can get the issue sorted, or find a suitable alternative to this addon.

Same, no strobe available at night. Please remove the time requirement because this will not work properly no matter how many bug fixes you try. I speak from experience as a programmer.

I assume you are using this version of the addon. Please check in a mission when it is late at night. The option sometimes isn't available for an hour or so after sun down and before sun rise. Just the way the game detects darkness. If it still doesn't work it may be due to a confliction with another addon. Just checked it on my end and it's still working as intended.

Beautiful IR effect and glad you made two versions. I wonder if you have a solution or future fix for using it when a parachute is deployed (I suspect deploying parachute is treated as entering a vehicle in arma). I would love for a soldier to have their IR deployed on HAHO jump so rest of team can locate the team leader. Anyway, thanks again.

I have no plans on adding Ace support, as Ace has it's own helmet mounted IR strobe. Not 100% sure how the Ace strobe works because I don't use it though.

If you are using the above version, you don't need an IR grenade. It just has to be between dusk and dawn and the action should be added to the scroll menu.

@pokefan548 IRL you don't see IR in thermal scopes. Thermal scopes only pickup heat difference. I'm a former tank commander IRL so I should know. I had to pop my head up from the turret and use my NVG to spot IR lasers from ground forces etc. But tech is allready on the market with NVG and Thermal blended together in one scope.

@StanThaMan Ah, I see. Still, it seems a pointless restriction to me. No one's using thermals during the day, so there's no problem with it being on. I kinda get why you coded it in, but it seems worthless to limit the timeframe, especially on servers with large scenarios and accelerated time settings. Besides, there's always the risk of 100% overcast?

Also, the strobe only shows up in NVGs? That sucks. It'd be nice to mark friendlies for gunship crews, or make LZs clearer to NVG Mk II Heli crews.

Not sure if you’re using some other mod that allows you to see the games default IR strobe in thermal and FLIR, but by default it can only be seen through NVG’s. As the strobe emits light in the near-infrared range which can be seen in NVG’s but does not create enough heat to be picked up by thermal imaging. Since NVG’s are useless during the day, I have restricted use of the IR strobe to night time to avoid cluttering the action menu.

It'd be nice if it wasn't specifically for night and dusk, as it helps people using the FLIR for things like Vehicle Warfare, Laser Designator Scouting, as well as using gunships like the Blackfish or the USAF Mod's AC-130.

yeah i know of the ace strobe object im talking about turning it on like this mod in the ace menu without the need to carry a strobe with you and attach it as it donest make sense to do that for helmets with manta strobes for example.

T.Ditch This already exists in ace,in order to do it you need IR Strobe or IR Grenade in your inventory and then you open the self interaction menu>equipment>attach item>IR Strobe and you can also attach it to a vehicle
