I could look at HugsLib again, but I had added customizations to CCL that allowed my mod to work. If I could figure out how to do the same modifications in HugsLib that might be possible, I'm currently bogged down with reallife work at the moment though.

Mod was dependant upon CCL, which stopped being updated :( which means my mod is broken.

Looked into using HusLib? A few other previously CCL dependant mods are using it instead.

@Sammikins unfortunately this only worked because it used CCL, unless the core game has adopted some other way of doing this or someone else takes over CCL this will sadly also be orphaned. I've been waiting for a update on the CCL code to make sure my thing still worked but that hasn't happened in months.

@Drako Edor yeah i just hadn't got around to adding it, I was busy getting the ability to add custom Outfits to CCL (so you can start new games with outfits other than Anything, Worker, Soldier, Nudist) and they merged in my code so the next release of CCL will have that in there and anyone with CCL installed will see (without other mods) the following starting outfits (Anything, Nothing, Worker, Soldier, Nudist). As Nudist still let you wear stuff Nothing makes them drop everything.

I think the mod menu just needs a overhaul, those little arrows always bugged me. On a sidenote 'Storybook' just hit page 1 of most popular mods for the week!

@Krush wait really?! I do hope you take it over. Maybe even make a "version" that simply includes these backstories to 1) clean up the fuster cluck that is the mod menu (I will stop complaining when I can click and drag, not aim for those nigh impossible to click on arrows that end up moving everything BUT the one your trying to click on, anyway) and 2) help reduce the amount of mods loaded. Sure, there's the same amount of content, but for the sake of crash reports it'll be easier for other modders, as they wouldn't need to individually look at the two different mods, and could just look at the one, then go to the person to say "try them separately" or "just use X by itself, the other won't work with mine" kinda thing."

Just a friendly suggestion :3 Maybe co-dev it with other modders who are interested/work in that area of game changing work

Prepare careful is getting it's last updates this weekend and uploaded to steam then he's going to look to hand it off to someone, I was considering taking it over.

@brbrux I think you've just got incredibly dumb luck (pardon the pun), I normally click the "randomize" button about 10 times before finding something I like (because RIP Prepare Carefully p np). I think if you spend a bit of time, the RNG Gods might smile on you and give you a Very Neurotic, Hard Working, Psychically hypersensitive person who's only good for hauling and cleaning x3

Do a large number of these backstories cause the colonists to be incapable of dumb labor or have I just been having really bad luck? All 6 or so colonists that I have gotten since downloading this mod having been incapable of dumb labor making a very interesting challange indeed.

Mascot. "Highschool was rough, especially in the teams unvented mascot costume. Not only did they spend the majority of their highschool days in the hot stuffy suit, but they got used to it! Being the mascot came with its perks, but plenty of downsides, due to being the school mascot, they were ridiculed, and became a social outcast, they also became more than a bit abrasive towards new people"

@Krush. Sorry, you are correct. Upon further testing without Story Book, I got the same results. This mod already has a lot of content. I look forward to seeing where it goes in the future.

New version is up, @Drako Edor you'll find your Cancer Survivor in this update, and I added a Young Cancer Survivor as well (though it doesn't get the same buffs). This update does mess up save files. To see how to avoid this swing over to the change notes section.

Yeah I just tested it, it won't break your saves but any pawns that were using one of my custom backstories will just randomly get a new backstory in that slot when you load up the save.

@Drako Edor shouldn't be a problem backstories with how they're setup in CCL can't be affected by traits, but I'm going to look into making custom people that might be able to do just that.

On a side note, I think I overlooked a potential bug with my mod conflicting with other mods that could involve backstories if any of the names are the same so at some point in the next day or so I'm going to have to release an update that will make any saves using the current version probably break, it's unfortunate but it'll be a one-time thing and from that point forward shouldn't be any fear of things conflicting.

with the bare bones, in I want to "explain" the traits and stuff. the +8 to medical would be from being in the hospital for so long, they just know stuff about it. +6 to Social because after being isolated for so long, they want to get out and just talk. -4 to Growing because having cancer, they were pretty much kept in a sterile environment because sick.
Psychopath because it makes them immune to blood and death (unless you can add a custom one to do that)
"Numb" is a custom one, like I said, that would make them not feel as much pain (because surgery and medication and all that fun stuff)
Psychically dull because they went through a hard time, and already had their mental state broken, but recovered, so it would take a bit more than "evil whispers telling me to kill everyone" to really effect them negatively.

@Thrawn-a-be I know what you're talking about but I think that's just an issue with prepare carefully as I've seen it and that was prior to me making this. I think the way it happens if you select Child, then select adult but instead of clicking a checkbox you just click outside the window closing it it for some reason seems to reset it to the same as the child

I like the back stories thus far, there's nothing that seems to imbalance the game. I have however encountered a minor issue when using this with Prepare Carefully. When I pick the first back story the second back story slot fills up with a duplicate of the first one. I can still use it I just have to fiddle with it a bit.
