I made a quick edit to show the difference between Shadowed Atmospheres and Darker Celestial Shadows.

@Unishine Try Tanz Lighting overhaul? It makes placed lights cast shadows.
Unishine 11 Jul, 2023 @ 8:27am
This is very nice! I should make a collection of lighting mods. Really the only lighting mod I have yet to find is one that prevent people from seeing through walls.

Hahahaha, your high voice breaks are funny! You should so get into voice acting! With the right character, your high voice breaks would sound awesome! And that fat grunt at the end! Hahaha lovely!

Yeah what about the white border on the background planet? If you got pics to share to compare the difference that'd be nice.....

Saygon Jan 17, 2019 @ 8:27am
Look for this white border on the background planet.

Boltte Jan 17, 2019 @ 7:43am
Do you have a comparison screenshot with a before and after? Would be easier to visualize that way....

OK SO I THINK THAT I'VE FIGURED OUT WHAT THAT THE MOD DOES

Gray Gravy V 7 Mar, 2021 @ 8:11pm

Kokorocodon 5 Jun, 2020 @ 10:29am
no
Juno the Weaver 15 Feb, 2020 @ 6:23pm
does this affect the performance of the game?
aubri 14 Feb, 2019 @ 2:00pm
Entire point of mods in games is to be able to customize your playthrough how you want.
And I want this and I'm glad it exists, so thank you Silverbells.
Boltte man 19 Jan, 2019 @ 1:04am
copy and paste should still work......
Saygon 18 Jan, 2019 @ 8:28pm
I can't upload to this comment via CTRL+V, so fuck you Gaben, I don't want to looking for picture hosting.

Genius. Thumb up!
Sir-Triggson VII 18 Jul, 2018 @ 7:32pm
you should mod a lot more often
these minor details that make the game better really add up when you have a lot of mods that fix things.

Hey guys, just popping in to say that even though I don't play Starbound, I'm glad to see that it still gets reviews from time to time. I'm also glad that there haven't seem to be any compatibility issues over the patches, when creating it I tried to keep it as simple as possible.

Thanks everyone who appreciated it.
Rixxy123 8 Apr, 2018 @ 11:24pm
doesn't seem to do much, but whaever, it doesn't hurt either.
Wyrm 11 Mar, 2018 @ 5:48am
This mod is deffinitely not useless. The whole point of mods is to change the game in ways that may appeal to people. This one appeals to people who'd prefer a more realistic halo of light around planets that adheres to the position it is towards a star.
ScrambieBambie 30 Jan, 2018 @ 3:19am
Much better visually...
I though they spoke that its outdated/redundant.
Moss 21 Dec, 2017 @ 12:06pm
@ScarabParamit The little things in life make it all better, useless or not.
ScrambieBambie 30 Nov, 2017 @ 2:58pm
Why its useless?
Gladys Oroborus 20 Sep, 2017 @ 3:21am
Still useful.
warmainiac 7 Jul, 2017 @ 7:42am
yea i got rid of this mod, started a new character and i still saw the halos (plus whilist using this mod in 1.3 rids the ammount of frames per second)
Toli 14 Jun, 2017 @ 5:40am
@ShirtyScarab554 why would you use this on 1.3? The mod is useless now.
ShirtyScarab554 8 Jun, 2017 @ 10:26pm
Does this work with 1.3?
BenieTheDragon 19 Sep, 2016 @ 12:13am
I was hoping this would show the day/night cycle of planets, to avoid beaming down at night. It unfortunately does not.
Fernanda  [author] 8 Sep, 2016 @ 9:33pm
tita: In the main game the planet atmosphere is just a halo that covers the entire planet, even the part that is not facing the sun. Some people (like me) find that uncanny or ugly since the atmosphere is not a halo of light, just a layer of gas (like the one we breathe). This mod makes them dark on the side of the planet not facing the sun.
Tita 5 Sep, 2016 @ 9:08pm
I don't get it.
Fernanda  [author] 3 Sep, 2016 @ 1:56am
Same, mate. Glad you enjoyed!
iampoorandthreeyearsold 1 Sep, 2016 @ 7:28pm
Thank fuck the lack of shadows were driving me NUTS
Fernanda  [author] 25 Aug, 2016 @ 10:59pm
Just an image replacement. The shadows are aligned with the planet lighting.
Jason_c_o 25 Aug, 2016 @ 2:11am
So is this just an image replacement? Or does the shadow actually move?
Jamidizer 23 Aug, 2016 @ 9:18am
k thanks
Fernanda  [author] 23 Aug, 2016 @ 12:59am
Haven't tried FU yet but it's likely.
Jamidizer 18 Aug, 2016 @ 1:25pm
does this work with FrackingUniverse?
RobotLucca 5 Aug, 2016 @ 12:04pm
Wait, is it really? Huh. Saying "affected by directional lighting" and another mod that says that "directional lighting = lag" makes jumping to conclusions a bit too easy, I guess.
Fernanda  [author] 5 Aug, 2016 @ 9:23am
This is weird, what kind of lag are you guys getting? People had no problem until yesterday, I wonder if it was an update that messed up with it. It's just a pure simple image replacement.
RobotLucca 4 Aug, 2016 @ 10:36pm
Makes planets in space look much better, at the cost of lag! Too bad my computer sucks, but I hope lots of others will enjoy it!
Fernanda  [author] 3 Aug, 2016 @ 9:37am
csszr.blzs: Try to download from this link then - https://www.dropbox.com/s/ohvgheh1h9awex4/shadowedatmospheres.zip?dl=0
Hope it works out for you. Best regards.
csszr.blzs 3 Aug, 2016 @ 8:40am
The steam and gog version starbound work all mod, but i wanna download with workshop, i must buy with steam(i have only gog version.)
Fernanda  [author] 3 Aug, 2016 @ 7:58am
brockb: Me too. I'm not sure how modable those things are, a lot of the celestial scripts don't seem to be exposed.

csszr.blzs: I don't have a gog account so I'm not familiar with it. Don't the mod as downloaded from steam work if you port it?
bran 2 Aug, 2016 @ 9:35am
Looks cool. I wish in game the planets would move around and the stars have different colors in the sky.
csszr.blzs 2 Aug, 2016 @ 8:12am
Any chance for a non-steam(gog) support?
๖ۣۜFenris 29 Jul, 2016 @ 6:22am
HA ! Cool stuff here too ! Thanks bro ! :D
lophatkao 28 Jul, 2016 @ 2:38pm
cool +sub
Fernanda  [author] 28 Jul, 2016 @ 9:40am
Man In The Purple Hat: Cool, thanks! And I understand, but as far as I checked they don't conflict with each other. If you have any issues let me know.
Man In The Purple Hat 28 Jul, 2016 @ 9:26am
ah excellent! I was thinking that the planets artfiles may have been combined, but thanks for checking this out for me! ill be addint this into my collection :) if you want you can check it out here : https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=730178904
So far all mods are working together with no issues, however a fresh universe and player are needed
Fernanda  [author] 28 Jul, 2016 @ 9:07am
Man In The Purple Hat: They don't seem to conflict, I installed both here and they seem to work fine together. Since Celestials in changing the planet file and mine is changing the atmosphere file (they're actually different) they appear to go hand in hand.
