FU adds their own oregen to asteroids, so this isn't compatible.
Thundercraft 9 May, 2024 @ 7:49am
Does this work okay with Frack'n Universe (FU)?

(This was asked earlier, but nobody ever replied...)

This is the good stuff. When ya need to burn through iron for whatever reason, this saves ya time.
xtermn8 24 Sep, 2016 @ 4:49pm
I actually love this mod. Make more :D
Sir Luis 4 Sep, 2016 @ 3:11pm
can you make a mod that adds Crystal Erchius Fuel and Core Fragment to asteroids???
FerventVehemence 23 Aug, 2016 @ 8:14pm
I was looking for something like this -- much more realistic. I'm always short of iron ore for some reason and it makes perfect sense in-universe to go mine some from asteroids when it is needed. Personally I would have decreased copper/silver/gold by more, but it's your mod. Much appreciated.
Bentdick Lamar 17 Aug, 2016 @ 2:48pm
Can you make other ores included? Also THANK YOU for this mod!
Elevas Sunchild 16 Aug, 2016 @ 7:10am
Excellent! Now if only I could get Tungsten asteroids (and maybe even durasteel if there's adequate danger), I'd be in heaven.
Cptn.Penguin 16 Aug, 2016 @ 3:17am
THANK YOU
Finally! These ironless Asteroids have reaaaaally been bugging me! *thumbs up*
j0shimi 5 Aug, 2016 @ 2:03am
Just starting out on the game, is this compatible and does this affect Frackin Universe asteroid at all?
Triel 3 Aug, 2016 @ 3:18am
kinda missing the times when you just could skip from asteroid to asteroid field drilling the ores out and advancing sectors
VinchenzoTheJackal & Shoon 2 Aug, 2016 @ 8:31pm
Oooh.. sounds awesome, can't wait to download a version with more metals than the vanilla version. Metals that exist IRL on such things and are Starbound friendly. Wouldn't want anything associated with DuraSteel and higher on such things... Tungsten, and at best Titanium, is the most lore friendly.
Bob Vanus  [author] 2 Aug, 2016 @ 3:14pm
It'll show.

Already visited asteroids won't have iron on it since they have already been generated but going to never visited asteroids will generate a field with the new orespawning.
Zakail 2 Aug, 2016 @ 12:56pm
Does this show on the scanner for the ships nav computer too? Just curious.
VinchenzoTheJackal & Shoon 2 Aug, 2016 @ 10:25am
Normally Asteroids IRL will not only have a small chance of fragile metals like Copper, and Gold, but also durable metals, like Iron, Silver, and even alloy metals like Tungsten and Platinum. 90% of all Platinum on Earth came from Rogue Asteroids (comets and meteors) crashing into the planet. If you add Copper, Silver, Gold, and Tungsten, to all of their fields, and maybe Titanium for the heck of it, it would be realistically friendly, but since Tungsten and Titanium are on the same tier, it would be Starbound friendly too!
Triel 2 Aug, 2016 @ 7:31am
once, asteroids did contain all ores, but that was when we had sectors and shiz...
Bob Vanus  [author] 1 Aug, 2016 @ 6:43pm
Wouldn't be able to afaik. Moons and asteroids only have one gen that applies to all star types while planets have 5 seperate gen types that each apply to a specific star type.
NotSoLoneWolf 1 Aug, 2016 @ 6:06pm
I have a solution. Put the other ores on asteroids, BUT, according to star type. So higher tier ores only spawn on Firey or Radioactive stars, and you need their corresponding protection.

Does that work or am I missing something? Awesome mod BTW.
Bob Vanus  [author] 1 Aug, 2016 @ 4:34pm
Doing that would completely break the games progression path, so that's not something I'd be willing to do.

I could do a version with Tungsten and Titanium though.
deboss0328 1 Aug, 2016 @ 3:36pm
plz make all the other ores spawn on astrods plz
Rinsler 30 Jul, 2016 @ 9:47pm
I actually mined out an rather sizeable asteroid that had around a stack or so of copper, I actually found that much copper to be rather impressive.
Rey 30 Jul, 2016 @ 4:29pm
and it's more reallistic than vanilla. asteroids are 80% Iron.
Rust 1.87.0 28 Jul, 2016 @ 5:42pm
Thanks for the mod! Immersiveness at it's best.
Man In The Purple Hat 28 Jul, 2016 @ 5:00pm
@asromega, when you broght up the fossils, i looked on the recent page on the workshop and saw this new mod, I think this will help you out ;P heres the link : https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=733359743
Man In The Purple Hat 28 Jul, 2016 @ 4:48pm
that would be a cool idea, you actually reminded me of a very very old mod from back in koala, it was an astroid rokc refiner and it would take all the astroid rock you put into it and per 25 rock youd get 1 iron bar i beleive. now i could be wrong on that ratio, ill have to do some digging in my old SB folders cause I know i still have the files to that mod somewhere, and the art/animation for the astroid refiner was bad ass haha
Bob Vanus  [author] 28 Jul, 2016 @ 2:11pm
Actually, a earlier private test version of this did add in tungsten and titanium. And diamonds were added in at a extremely low spawn rate. I'd scrapped that and just went with adding iron since, well... that'd be op as shit given that when asteroids spawn ore they generally do it in massive clumps. (Tungsten was in at .45, inbetween silver and gold, while titanium was added in at .2. Diamonds were .05)

I'm actually working on something else that'd let you get those ores though - A mod that'd let you reprocess the meteor rock itself into ores. It gives me a lot more freedom when it comes to balancing things out compared to editing ore spawns since I could set exactly how much meteor rock you'd need for ores and limit the higher tier ores to upgraded versions of the machine.
skeletundra 28 Jul, 2016 @ 10:20am
@MITPH, It's a good idea, a very good idea. But the spawn rate can't be too OP because starting players with like steel-iron armor will beam down for like 2 minutes gathering what they can and then beaming back up, and repeating until they suck the place dry. Also, could someone make a mod for infinite chisel in the fossil uncovering menu? That pisses me off.
Man In The Purple Hat 28 Jul, 2016 @ 8:57am
Fantasitc!!! ive been hoping there would be a mod like this! now i have a reason to mine/even go to the asteroid fields!! one thing you could add is tungstun, titanium and duristeel to the asteroids aswell, they seem like ores that would be inside asteroids aswell, and actually, ive read that they have seen asteroids that contain gold, platnium and diamonds awell! might be cool to add those in aswell ;P. thanks for the upload and I hope you'll add my idea! I just would like more reasons to visit these areas ya know.
blackice 2142 28 Jul, 2016 @ 5:04am
ooo awesome dude, that would be awesome :D
Bob Vanus  [author] 28 Jul, 2016 @ 4:15am
I could do that yeah.

I'll need to figure out what planet type each data set points to, since the planet entries are numbered instead of outright named like asteroids and moons were but it's doable.
blackice 2142 28 Jul, 2016 @ 3:13am
any chance in making all other ores have a bigger spawn rate / size on planets ?? :D or is there allready a mod that dose this ?
Sprunt 27 Jul, 2016 @ 9:28pm
This actually really bugged me but didn't even think about a mod. Thank you for this.
