Could there be an add-on to this like that the Chef may also drop various veggies/fruites/meals at times? Maybe higher rate for it to happen when hunger is high, outside of ship? Just a suggestion.

i have both job offers and chef crewman (this mod) as well as the compatibility patch for the both of them "Job Offers Compatibility Addon Chef Crewman"

my main character has this in the ship, so thanks to this, i cannot load my game anymore, could you please fix? :(

I've been using it for a while with no issues. Villages sometimes turn into chefs, they can be hired, and once in the ship they freeze hunter.

All it's working as it's described.

You know, it'd be nice to have a craftable "Chef's Corner", or use the vanilla food station, and let the chef interact with it. S/he'll give food to crew members (for effect), and'll also be seen working away making something at that station sometimes. The crew mates could sit down and eat it or save it for later, and eat it then. Maybe throw their residue in any trash container around the ship or something. Just ideas, you know? Do it if you'd like, but it's definitely going to add more than one feature!

you should make it where if you bring tbe cook with you it makes your hunger go down slower on planets! it would be cool! also i dont know how too give ideas with it seeming like i am giving an idea that the person can use.

@graublau It should not conflict with FU. I'm not sure what FU chefs do though, (FU changes way too frequently to keep up with what it does anymore) so I can't comment on their behaviour.

Hi, this might be a stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway: 'how' is this compatible with FU? What I mean is does this mod add the chef crewman to the FU-crew and FU modifies it (since I know there are files for chef crewmen in the FU github) or is it just a ... different chef than the one from FU, but doesn't interfere with the FU one? (hope this makes sense) :fat:

Something rather odd happened today.
Yesterday, I installed this mod and got a chef crew member who appeared exactly like the screenshot here and worked perfectly fine.
Now, he's got a full chef uniform on, still holding the carrot. Can still order him to stay/follow, but his hunger ability doesn't work. He's still listed normally in the crew menu.

@rcfox hey, just to let you know when this mod is paired with "Earths Finest" the Chef and Medic look near Identical aside from the carrot. EF causes all crew members to wear a baseball cap so it makes the chefs hat dissapear.

@galandrix I've never tried to mod Starbound outside of Steam, so I'm not 100% if this is what you need, but try grabbing this and putting it in your Starbound mods directory: http://rcfox.ca/chef_crewman.pak

Thanks for this mod. Another one of those small ones, which show what kinda is wrong with the vanilla game. (Truly we absolutly needed janitors over chefs, I guess... :cuteghost: )
Anyway, already solved this lack via a colony deed on the ship. But good to know, you made it possible to hire them. :roach_jim:

Do you think you could change the colour of their outfit? When paired with the "Earths Finest" mod, they look almost identical to a medic aside from the carrot.

It would be cool if they droped food items while they are on the ship for you every once in awhile. Just as another source of food income, having them have a more impactful and lasting effect.

Maybe even having it to where they only drop low level food stuff and you'd have to take them out on the feild for them to "gather ingredients" allowing them to drop better food items for a time.

Check your error log (should be at Steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/starbound.log) it might be able to tell you what's wrong.

You could also try running these commands in a new game:
/admin
/spawnnpc human crewmemberchef

That should spawn a chef that you can talk to and recruit.

It's working for you? All I can tell you is that the one character I have with a chef on their ship doesn't even load now. The application hangs and I figured it was because of the changes to status effects with npcs/pets. I'd be really surpirsed if this didn't need an update, but hmm. I did try un and resubscribing. No new mods, and it was working before 1.1.1. So I don't know... No one else seems to report this, I guess.

The problem solved itself an while ago. I just unsubscrived and resubscribed to a bunch of mods. I never found which one was the culprit.
