@GlitchSans240: Im currently not modding DST. But you could take a look at this mod files and try to do the same for the skin you want to add

Can you please add Isabelle (from Animal Crossing) to this mod, if you haven't already? She was in the Beta 1.0 branch, so it should be easy to port her appearance over to this branch. Emphasis on "should".

@Ailo_R: there is a Luffy mod. With permisson from the author you could extract the graphics and make a skin mod like this for luffy without problems.

darn, its missing Luffy

Ok. most tools for most games are directly downloadable from steam (or where you got the game from). In steam you need to enable to show "tools" in your library and directly next to DST you will find the tools. This includes a "ModUploader". This is used to upload mods to steam.

If you dont want to upload your mod to steam, you don't need it, but it is of course easier to share the mod, also with your friends.
The rest can be done in a text editor, no need for other tools.

I don't know exactly what the error was when you edited my mod, but I assume it even might be enough to rename the folder of the mod, so it does not link anymore to the old modconfiguration file.

@Serp Could you point me to a mod tool for DST if one exists? Preferably say the one you might have used to make this? I used to be a hardcore Bethesda modder but none of my experience there really translates here except for perhaps my patience. I also don't even know how to upload a mod some one mentioned SCS Workshop Uploader can't find a trace of it on steam store or library anywhere unless thats the old outdated method of uploading mods.

@Stolas: There is no need to edit this mod. As you can see in the description, this is an example mod, how your own mod could look like to add more characters. So you can simply activate this mod and yours at once.
And of course you can also copy paste parts of this mod into your own (so this would be "kind of" editing).

So the solution:
Do not edit this mod, but make your own mod. Feel free to copy stuff from this mod over and add your own characters. The important part is, that you make a new mod, with new mod id and your own steam upload. Then you should not receive this errors.

So what I was trying to do was edit this Skins mod to allow additional skins but its just not that simple to change a mods code and have it still work apparently. It was supposed to be for Private use seeing as how 99.9% of it wouldn't be my work. It beats me trying to create a new one from nothing using this one as reference though no idea the tools used to even do so.

The mod works fine when I test it in a new local game (with and without caves). But I don't use a dedicated server, so no clue what the problem could be.
This "modservercreation" file is a quite new optional addition, but not mandatory. Just in case, you should check also other mods, if they throw the same error.

The moment I try to make a skin the mod can't load into the server it says. Mod had no modservercreation.main.lua and Mod had no modworldgenmain.Lua. Could not load mod_config_data/modconfiguration_workshop-*********. But the original skins mod we're using as reference never had these files and it works anyways??? Must be missing something here.

@Liru: as written in the description, I made none of these.
If you know a mod that made your character, you can use my mod as an example on how to extract the graphics of the character.

can you add Nanachi from Made in Abyss?
jjordan006 16 Mar, 2021 @ 11:33am
It's working for me now, too.
Serp  [author] 16 Mar, 2021 @ 11:14am
@jjordan006: can't reproduce, this mod with the Skin API is working fine on my side.
jjordan006 16 Mar, 2021 @ 10:29am
After the recent update, the characters appear invisible when using this mod. Can you help? Thanks.
Serp  [author] 26 Jan, 2021 @ 9:46am
if you have the permission or want to create it for personal use only, try to look at the code of this example mod. It should be quite easy to understand. Simply copy/paste the code for a single skin and replace it with your new skin.

@weirenzhong5913:
better ask the author of that mod, if he/she can create such a skin-standalone mod. If he/she needs help doing so, ask here, but the code example of this mod should be sufficient.

Hello, SERP,
Can you create a look for it ?
I think a lot of people will like its appearance.
