IDK, but here is your fix. get the 'Classic Food Mechanics' mod and use both mods like i am.
sadly not all things are in this mod yet. til the missing foods are added, use Classic Food Mechanics. it Disables food from rotting and makes it stackable. it stacks to 1k (i think, haven't played for some time) but it'll work for you til Nights.R adds food to this mod. i'm still waiting myself for an update to add the missing things.
i don't know but i'd think not. best if BOTH client and server-side has the mod, or you'll be, most linkly, walking into "kick my out" land. all play are going to see what the mod does after all.
