Sharia can translate, depending on context, as justice, a religion (e.g. shariat musa = religion of moses), or religious regulations (like the 10 commandments). It is *not* a law code, it is an ideal. A law is generally found to conform to sharia if it promotes justice or social welfare. Like how a law against violence could be found to conform to the 10 commandments. If you disagree, look it up.
