New Update has dropped. You no longer have to subscribe to eight parts, you can download the new version of the mod in one place:

Things have changed a bit since the FAQ was last updated. For one, Tributaries is no longer a feature exclusive to Horse Lords and can be used in the mod freely. Sunset Invasion was recommended for Aztec Portraits for Sun Warriors before this mod got it's own portrait sets. Thus, they're quite outdated. Currently, the only DLC I'd recommend to run this mod as smoothly as possible would The Old Gods.
PS: I don't like the new portraits to and if there is a way to use the old anime portaits without losing content I would like to know.
I understand whomever made the new ones tried to make canon accurate clothes and 'lore-friendly' hair styles but the huge drop in quality is sadly obvious. I believe if you just get Seiji to add the arrow head tattoo it would be enough change for the setting.

Now as far I understand the most recent version works with 2.7.2 but when I load the game all the faces are butt ugly as drawn by a total amateur. The images are not from Seiji's anime faces (it actually took me a hour to find the name of what was used before) which I first experienced using this mod. The ugly things can't even properly be customized and the game can crash from incorrect face/hair/color coding.

The mod will not work with CK2+ and duelling is a feature in the upcoming update.
thanks for the advice and quick response, I wanted to see what other Cosmetic mods I could add besides the clean map mod
I wouldn't recommend running many mods alongside this one, as they're often not compatible, so basically I'd only stick to cosmetic mods. As said in the description, I think the map looks best when using Kyro's Clean Map Mod.
You need to have a registered account on the Paradox Forum, and to have registered your copy of CK2 there, to access the Crusader Kings 2 Modding Subforum.
Try looking up the correct culture names in the mod's culture files. You shouldn't have to use character ID, just be aware that if a culture name is more than two words, it's connected by an underscore. So instead of typing "culture northern earth", type "culture northern_earth"
