I love this mod.
The cottonwool always did seem a bit useless.
Plus those flags require so much plant fibre, and I like the vines in caves cuz they're pretty :)

Actually, in real life, vines can be turned into rope and string, the string can be turned into fabric, and I don't see why it couldn't be turned into cotton alternatives, in a scifi world.

could you do the opposite from this, getting cotton seems to be a little rare to find on lush planets nowadays while plant fibre is in abundance

Thanks for this, this is a nice option and makes sense, too (cotton to fabrics, lots of clothes are made from cotton irl)

"This makes cottonwool have more uses than for toy bears and allows it to be used in all current and future fabric recipes rather than only some of them."

also cotton is super rare? ive always had so much tho

I Don't see why I would use this, Cotton is very rare.

@CosmicScientist
That's a fair point of view, and is understandable.

oh that makes sense to lol

@Troll_kollector maybe because it doenst make much sense to turn fabric into cotton.

if there was multiple different types of fabric then it would make more sense. cotton fabric turn back into cotton and plant turned into plant (mush?)

but cave vines to fabric to cotton doesnt make much sense lol.

all that said. if this does add that or if another mod adds it then thats cool to.

Because there are some recipes fabric can make but cotten can't yet fabric can make everything cotton can minus a teddy bear that has one use.

Plant fibres on the other hand have a whole host of uses so if you don't want to specifically run around to knock down a hundred vines to set up your colony because there's furniture, blocks and consumables to make with it, you can just have a farm with a few cotton plants to make one bed per three harvested plants (for reference you need 40 fibre for each normal bed).

Otherwise not giving cotton this use means you have no reason to grow cotton after you get iron armour unless you really want the other casual clothes to be made without using plant fibre. A similar situation to core fragments before you could make fireworks and flares out of them.

Why not the other way around?
I have multiple stacks of plant fibres, but only a handful of cotton, I'm sure most players through normal progression would end up with a similar outcome since you'd have to consistently grow the cotton where as you get plant fibres pretty much by accident if you just dig around while looking for ores near the surface, or by making tunnels.
