Quick suggestion. In real life chain link fences are actually cheaper per material and quicker to put up than wood fencing, it's why most companys and even poorer homes will use chain link as a quick fencing option. I would actually suggest you rebalance the chain link to be much quicker to build, while still being ugly, while making wooden ones take a little more time, while looking better, and costing(optional) just a tad more wood than it currently does. Just my observation but otherwise the mod is good as is and my suggestion isn't critical.

For everyone complaining about this mod not being updated:
It works completely fine in Alpha 16. The only problem is that it's marked as "WorkToMake", causing it to be built instantly.

@Raccoon, you can shoot through the fences. However, if the person is in an area that is completely enclosed by fences (like a yard), they will only shoot through them if they are drafted. The fences can't be walked through.

Thank you all for your comments! Sorry for the late replies, I've been busy with other stuff and haven't been paying much attention.

@Shifttt Aw, I'm glad you think the picket fence is cute and nice! Thank you! I've added beauty bonuses and penalties in this new update. I actually thought I had done that earlier, but apparently I forgot to. Whoops!

The issues you mention, about automatically building roofs and about blocking beauty buffs, are things I would like to fix. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a solution to these issues yet.

Few more things to add while messing with fences, the fences work like a wall meaning if you have an area covered by part wall and then fence, it will automattically build a roof meaning that any plants you have planted under it wont grow as well. Also if you plant plants for mood buffs you wont get them though the fences. (Will post screenshots to show what i mean.)

I think the wooden fences should give a postive effective like tables and chairs do (enviorment buff) and the steel ones give a negative. Though the beuty toogle effect, atm they are -1 on the wooden ones (guessing same with steel) the wooden ones being cute and nice should have a +1?? Any chance of this in an update?

Took a screenshot of how it works if anyone wants to see. Really easy and work effectively. The creator did a good job. Plus personal opinion it works better if you use the chain fence because the wooden one can catch on fire.

For those asking if it maks the inside area a room.. do you realise that under the Zones/Areas tab you can mark areas to remain un-roofed? Just do that?

I have a great idea on how to do it, make it powered by a Power Conduit and it has to be right on it to be connected so it can shock.

...Having fences makes me want electric fences. Not really sure how you'd implement that, though. Maybe a wall that can "retaliate" against melee attackers?

@Hagamablabla my previous replies gave you the wrong info, so I've deleted them.

These fences will mark the area inside as a room, sorry. If I figure out how to make them not do that, I will leave a note.

As for other differences between these fences and Itchy Flea's: Itchy Flea's fences cast wall shadows, and they have about the same cost to build and hit points as walls do. My fences don't cast wall shadows, and cost signiticantly less to build, but are more flimsy.

Any difference between this and Itchy Flea's mod? Personally I'm looking for one that is impassible but doesn't act as a wall, so that it doesn't mark the area inside as a room.
