The lag was too much when I started crewing my ship, and having them all walking around constantly opening and closing doors really fried the life support programming.
You're making a custom ship that works with this? I'm going to suggest you need something like an invisible block if you where using a background image rather than background tiles. I have one in my blocks and objects that intentionally has no matitem so it can't be used by griefers. But they can be spawned in the shipworld.
I'm going to add another one - that is easily destroyed - as I'm making my shipmod more compatible with this. Some places are needing a proper background.
If your intent is a window, then invisible blocks could work, or black glass too. I have lighter variants of the black glass also in that mod. So if I'm correct about your intent here, you could solve your issues by using my blocks and making that mod a requirement. Unless I'm misunderstanding.
Do you have a version of the ship mod from before the life support system was added? Like, last week's version? I'd love a copy of that mod, that one was perfect.
