If you solve the issue, how about posting the solution, or just deleting posts mentionning some kind of issue with the mod? >:/

Sorry, I meant Ores for Asteroids
Krombopulos Michael 26 Sep, 2017 @ 2:51pm
I take it there's no way to get this and Richer ores to work nicely?
Fen_San 16 Sep, 2017 @ 8:10pm
I renember this mod used to have more ores than those.... maybe?
Johnny 27 Jun, 2017 @ 7:27am
Never mind I solvwed my own issue.
Johnny 25 Jun, 2017 @ 11:12pm
My asteroids look the same as they normally do, do I have to make a new character? <I'm of course running 1.3>
NorthWestTrees 20 Jun, 2017 @ 12:15am
@LagiaDOS I think it may be working, not sure I have not seen any coal so maybe not, diamonds have always been a problem though either they are too rare or don't spawn, but I have found Gold, Iron, and Silver but without seeing coal I don't know for sure.
LagiaDOS 16 Jun, 2017 @ 12:45am
Is it working for 1.3?
Xaliber 19 Mar, 2017 @ 1:24am
My response was directed to NorthWestTrees. Games always have official forums, they've always been like that since I mod Empire at War a decade ago. Use that forums instead of e-mailing the dev directly.

And there is nothing blocking the asteroid to spawn ores. It's just handled in different files.
Xaliber 19 Mar, 2017 @ 1:19am
You don't to need contact developer just to ask such simple question. You can go to the official modding forums [community.playstarbound.com] to ask your question, and the community will help.

Or you can go to the official Discord [discord.gg]. Sometimes the dev responds, sometimes they don't.

Don't make it complicated. :/ The dev don't have customer service.

no clue, but from looking how steam works and games like GTA not even supporting mods or giving a workshop on the their page I would think that they would at least reply to you even if they can't solve your problem for you.

Maybe just ask a simple question like "have you guys blocked mod developers from adding some ores to asteroids" that way you leave it open and still find out what you need if it's a yes then maybe look to adding them to the sub-biome.

there is a chance that there is a line of code preventing it from being spawned up there before I had steam I had a legit version of the game to try it out an play with friends, I recalled that there were diamonds on it way before, they may have changed something about it in the code and made a quick fix or something but if they are no help there try finding an official feature request forum or something for you to ask them to add support for adding ores to planets like diamonds and such.

Do the Starbound devs respond to modders? I am more experienced with game developers being indifferent (or even actively hostile) to modders.
NorthWestTrees 1 Mar, 2017 @ 9:56pm
that bites, maybe ask the devs or contact starbound and see what they say then, I don't know why they would restrict it but they may have a reason, never hurts to ask :) sorry I could not help.
Reika  [author] 1 Mar, 2017 @ 7:22pm
No, I do not think I modified the biome one, since the other changes seem to apply to the proper area.
NorthWestTrees 1 Mar, 2017 @ 12:21pm
ok so what you're trying to achieve is the asteroid field:
http://starbounder.org/Asteroid_Field

but there is a sub-biome as well found on every planet high in the sky.
http://starbounder.org/Asteroids

I am not sure if you used that biome because there is never enough information on the ores on wiki but it did not include that there would be diamonds nor did it say there are diamonds up in the "Asteroids" but it did state there are no diamonds in the "Asteroid Fields"

Maybe it could be that, if not you may have luck asking Starbound or something.

Biome version?
NorthWestTrees 28 Feb, 2017 @ 1:54pm
if not you could always try the biome version instead, it may be easyer to code, also it would give people a reason to go up there ;) anyhow its a greate mod with our without diamonds it would be better with, but over all 5/5 :)
NorthWestTrees 28 Feb, 2017 @ 1:50pm
I did see like one diamond or a small bit of diamonds on a high tierd plannet not the field but the plannet version, could it have been added to that rather than the plannet version?
Reika  [author] 26 Feb, 2017 @ 9:13pm
It is supposed to. I have no idea why they are not spawning; are asteroids hardcoded not to?
NorthWestTrees 26 Feb, 2017 @ 9:05pm
So just an update on my last post it dose not seem to be spawning any diamonds or core fragments, it dose spawn coal and iron as well as gold and silver.

I heaved searched a few planets using the GPR-Mapper or Ground-Penetrating Radar Station Mod witch shows all types of ores and it did not show any diamonds or core fragments at any level.

can you please make it so it spawns diamonds please thanks.
NorthWestTrees 22 Feb, 2017 @ 11:30pm
Has anyone found any diamonds yet, I know the mod is working there is iron and coal but I have not found the nice shiny blue stuff :)

any help would be great thanks.
Fluffy Catto 16 Oct, 2016 @ 9:53am
You should add specific ores depending on the star type.
Juno 11 Oct, 2016 @ 9:10pm
Have you found any Diamonds yet or can confrim they are on asteroids?
Reika  [author] 5 Oct, 2016 @ 8:32am
I know the coal is spawning. I do not think coal appears on the analysis for any planet.
Reika  [author] 17 Sep, 2016 @ 1:35am
The biome, though it might affect both.
petthepetra 16 Sep, 2016 @ 2:02pm
Does this effect the asteroid layer (High up above planets), the Asteroid Biome (Almost like a planet), or both?
hi 31 Aug, 2016 @ 4:23am
okay
Reika  [author] 29 Aug, 2016 @ 2:15pm
I have not found them, either, but they have been added to the generation table.
hi 29 Aug, 2016 @ 12:49pm
oh for some reaon i cant find diamonds or i just need to play the unstable edition :/:steamfacepalm:
Reika  [author] 28 Aug, 2016 @ 11:07am
No, diamonds, core fragments, and some others do not appear in geological analysis.
hi 28 Aug, 2016 @ 5:33am
Are the daimonds really rare cuz in the discription it says they are 0.15 and would it say in the ores area if there were diamonds
Elevas Sunchild 27 Aug, 2016 @ 10:21pm
Excellent. Thank you.
Reika  [author] 27 Aug, 2016 @ 12:14pm
I will do that for the next update.
Elevas Sunchild 27 Aug, 2016 @ 3:00am
Could you add the rough spawn rates of the non-tiered ores to the description, please? Also, thanks for the awesome mod.
Reika  [author] 25 Aug, 2016 @ 12:10am
OK, I split the mods; the new one is called "Scaled Ores", and contains the planetary modifications.
RogueRaiden 24 Aug, 2016 @ 10:25pm
lol i didnt do Iron Asteroids, i have my own version. I made mine before seeing Iron Asteroids, but i dont think ideas can be claimed like that. You'd want to give credit if you used someone elses assets (code or art)
Reika  [author] 24 Aug, 2016 @ 10:21pm
OK, I will split them, probably tomorrow, and make a new mod like "Tiered Depths" or something.

Also, @EZ: Are you the author of iron asteroids? If so, it is you who is to credit for the idea of this mod. :P
RogueRaiden 24 Aug, 2016 @ 10:18pm
i have no opinion since i already have my own mod that adds ore to asteroids, and im fine with planet ore gen
Reika  [author] 24 Aug, 2016 @ 10:15pm
I do not much care either way, hence why I am asking others for their opinions. I am certainly willing to put it to a vote.
RogueRaiden 24 Aug, 2016 @ 10:12pm
thats up to you
Reika  [author] 24 Aug, 2016 @ 10:08pm
Oh yes, I forgot about that. This mod used to be part of RealCasual, and the split seems to have not gone perfectly. Should I split the planet gen into its own mod or rename this mod?
RogueRaiden 24 Aug, 2016 @ 8:05pm
From the looks of it, you've also changed some planet ore gen
Weaver 24 Aug, 2016 @ 8:05pm
Your oredistributions.configfunctions.patch seems to spend a lot more time changing values in non-asteroid entries than in asteroid ones O.o.
💖 Officer Hotpants 💖 24 Aug, 2016 @ 7:51pm
I don't know how much sense coal makes on an asteroid but I am still positively baffled that they somehow got it into their twisted little heads that asteroids and meteors are devoid of iron.
Reika  [author] 24 Aug, 2016 @ 3:41pm
I figured "all non-tiered ores" was fairly clear: It means iron, coal, and diamonds (I excluded Core Fragments as they do not make sense here). As for how it is balanced, the ore distributions are similar to those seen on planets, with an additional penalty to diamonds and a small penalty to coal (to prevent excessive amounts).
BlueNights 24 Aug, 2016 @ 2:52pm
Balanced how? Kind of a vague statement. Might also still want to list the ores.
