@Izzy Weisz I think this mod's done, but AsPerrUsual's been making his own critter capture mod which is still functional as of now:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1627427082

Forever ago I thought about trying to make a new version of this. That plan fell through fast, lol. Glad someone did either way.
Izzy Weisz (GER) 5 Sep, 2019 @ 10:11pm
Is this still being updated? I have caught a lot of critters that so far just get killed when trying to catch... If you need the pics I can give you the screen shot of those I have. :) Guess still not all, but Imma working my way through them... :)

@FO-2189 These mods aren't really being updated anymore, so I wouldn't expect that to be changed. And the picture for the mod doesn't impact its functionality, so I don't really see what difference that makes. Personally I don't think the picture text looks that bad anyway.
Keulron 3 Feb, 2018 @ 6:07pm
Really, please change the name and picture text for all these mods.

Keep us posted!

About working on the new "version" of this mod... I got my attention drawn away from this while I've been working on a different mod. When I release what I'm working on now, I'll resume work on this, though atm I'm not sure when that will be.
DizzyCrash 30 Jan, 2018 @ 9:18am
Frogs keep dieing... not really capturing them
Keulron 27 Jan, 2018 @ 3:23pm
And from all your mods.
Keulron 27 Jan, 2018 @ 3:22pm
Sir, I know this is annoying, but I would like it if you would remove the text from the main picture.
pointbeing 11 Jan, 2018 @ 12:24pm
@ Superepicgecko Well that's kind of a shame, but alright. Still gonna credit you and the original mod for inspiration though :) Also I appreciate your interest in what I'm working on, I'll try not to disappoint!
Superepicgecko  [author] 11 Jan, 2018 @ 5:06am
I'm not sure of the username of the OP. It seems the original mod has been deleted, I did a quick search on the forums for it. My 2016 post says that the original mod was simply titled 'critter capture.' And yes, I'm definitely interested in seeing what you come up with.
pointbeing 10 Jan, 2018 @ 2:03pm
so if anyone's interested, I'm planning on releasing a beta for a new critter capture mod around this weekend or so. bear in mind that it's not exactly the same as this mod (though for the time being, with the exception of new sprites and a capture collection, most things are about the same), but it should be stable and functional. also do know that adding critters is kind of time consuming and i've got a fairly busy schedule, so at release the number of critters capturable will probably be... limited . However, I will make sure to add them all over time, though this may take a while.

for more info take a look at my beta release discussion , and sub to it if you want to be notified at release.

@Superepicgecko i appreciate that you're alright with me making the mod. i'm not actually using work from this mod (sprites, files, etc.), but I still plan on giving credit for the general "concept" and inspiration, both to you and the original creator if possible.

speaking of which, do you happen to know the username of the forum creator for credit-giving purposes?
Superepicgecko  [author] 6 Jan, 2018 @ 4:58pm
Awesome. Feel free to take/modify whatever you want from my mods, just give me credit for what you do reuse.
pointbeing 2 Jan, 2018 @ 9:01am
not as much taking over as just trying to revive the concept. again, not using the original mod files, kind of figuring out how to go about this on my own. and totally understand, people move between games, and i have no problem with you focusing on another game you like. just a shame that mods like this sometimes get left behind.

that aside, progress is actually going pretty well, so i'll have my mod up when i finish it, but again it might be a while. it's modified from this mod a bit, but i think that considering how its going now, the final product should be pretty good.
Superepicgecko  [author] 2 Jan, 2018 @ 7:33am
Anyone is welcome to take over any of my mods, several of which are themselves resurrected from others. However I'm back to modding now though my efforts have been focused on RwR and Rusted RTS for the time being
pointbeing 31 Dec, 2017 @ 5:05pm
well i guess i could try and make it then... pretty much know i would make this, it actually seems like it'd be pretty simple. my main concern would probably just be spriting, which I have no experience with. still, the critter sprites and other necessary stuff are already in the vanilla assets, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

might take a while because life, but if it goes well i'll put it on the workshop, if anyone's interested.
Solzucht 29 Dec, 2017 @ 9:20am
True :) Id like to see an functional mod with this idea.
pointbeing 29 Dec, 2017 @ 9:00am
yeah, i know, he said in description (and that is what all the 'god dame' mods are, if i'm not mistaken). i was thinking it would be neat to actually make it functional--since that seems to be an issue--not to mention complete and improve it, i.e. add capturability for all creatures.

I'm not currently subbed to this mod, so i'm not even using the original creator's work or files or anything. just want to make a mod around the whole 'critter capture' concept, which I hate to see left in a derelict state like this.
Solzucht 29 Dec, 2017 @ 12:47am
? This aint the original Mod, if your thinking that.
The mod developer picked up at some point alot of deserted mods, but didnt do much himself to improve them.
pointbeing 28 Dec, 2017 @ 1:57pm
I kind of want to make a revamped and functional mod based on the original idea of this one (not just a ripoff of the original mod)... since this one, is, yknow, dead.

if I do make it, it might take a while and also might totally suck, but I think it's worth a shot.

thoughts?
Shaymini 11 Dec, 2017 @ 9:19am
it is it dosent work at all.
vindurza 11 Oct, 2017 @ 3:25pm
update it is working to a certain extent sadly the pink fuzzy critters can't be put in tanks
Gaming_squid 24 Feb, 2017 @ 6:14am
rip this mod it dead
Texas Redhawk 26 Jan, 2017 @ 9:10pm
Confirmed not working in current game version.
Kinasin 15 Dec, 2016 @ 11:14pm
does this work with 1.2?
Aile 18 Nov, 2016 @ 4:39pm
Do the critters breed? Can i turn a barren world into a non barren world?
Aeterna Nox 16 Nov, 2016 @ 1:22pm
Can you make critters catchable with capture pods?
This function was in the release version but for now it has been cut off!
Me and my friend actually have few capture pods with critters inside but we can't get them now.
General Meowstifer 22 Sep, 2016 @ 5:26pm
is this broken by 1.1.1?
Skrullinox 18 Sep, 2016 @ 5:15pm
please add all critters
Superepicgecko  [author] 9 Sep, 2016 @ 11:59pm
Looks awesome!
Superepicgecko  [author] 9 Sep, 2016 @ 11:03pm
Taxidermy would be so cool though!
Superepicgecko  [author] 9 Sep, 2016 @ 11:03pm
I fixed the bunny bug.
Hurgablurg 8 Sep, 2016 @ 6:00pm
No, gecko, not taxidermy. :P
Like you have an empty tank furniture item you place like a fossil display, and then you put a critter in the tank like you would a fossil into a display. Then, liek a fossil display does when it's full, it turns into the relevent, complete display. I think that's what he meant.
Although, I think the way it works out right now in the mod is MUCH more simple, easy, and affordable.
Superepicgecko  [author] 8 Sep, 2016 @ 4:41pm
There actually is a mod that does that already, and amazingly well! It's called Wardrobe Interface. Check it out, the only thing I don't like about it is it can actually give you free armor...
[rD]Psygnosis³ 8 Sep, 2016 @ 4:31pm
God dame stuffed critters ! :D

I think animated display / theca are the best one for critters - maybe medium / larger size for bigger ones ?

ps : Not related this one, but : a Barber Shop mod is what Starbound lacks - while in game you can change the character stuff ( hairs, colors, etc etc ) as you do in the character creation menu. You or someone else can do that or it's not possible even with a mod ?
Superepicgecko  [author] 8 Sep, 2016 @ 4:21pm
Stuffed critters anyone?
Superepicgecko  [author] 8 Sep, 2016 @ 4:20pm
I mean, if you want a static display... I could do that
Hurgablurg 8 Sep, 2016 @ 3:50pm
I think he means having an "empty -arium" display object, that, like a fossil display case, can have something (in this case a critter) socketed inside. Once fully socketed (in this case with one item), the display objects turns into the appropriate display, filled with whatever thing you put inside.
Superepicgecko  [author] 7 Sep, 2016 @ 1:18pm
Hmm? Explain further?
Wortox 7 Sep, 2016 @ 5:12am
I saw what you said about the layer opacity thing
Can you try. Making them like fossils? You add an item to them and *poof* new furniture!
Luna 3 Sep, 2016 @ 10:59pm
Can you capture the balloons? If you can't, can you please add capturable balloons?
Elevas Sunchild 3 Sep, 2016 @ 8:33pm
Damn. I got my hopes up when I saw the word fapture that this would allow me to capture some uncapturables.
GwenBlanketSpecter 3 Sep, 2016 @ 6:05pm
http://starbounder.org/Critter of these I'd appreciate a petal, a Prism Elemental, and a Jelly
Thalia 3 Sep, 2016 @ 3:30pm
I miss being able to use capture pods to make little critter habitats. This is close enough I suppose. Thank you very much.
Solzucht 3 Sep, 2016 @ 12:35pm
so make them not passable or have a hellload of work ;) you decide :P
i will wait <3
Superepicgecko  [author] 3 Sep, 2016 @ 12:32pm
The issue there is with layer opacity. If it has glass, and the monster can move behind the glass, the player will ALSO move behind the glass while passing it.
Gauron 3 Sep, 2016 @ 8:34am
I have a question, from what i see this mod adds new furniture for each captured critter.
Why dont you make a furniture what can keep critters inside it by acting like a block structure with a hatch?
Kinasin 3 Sep, 2016 @ 1:54am
this fn incredible. Adds a animal crossing feel to the game.
