You're a monster
Enlonwhite 9 May, 2023 @ 1:58am
This mod made bugs fun, and could make things with bugs really interesting if you mess with the settings of them in mod settings.
Dracula Flow 5 7 May, 2023 @ 11:22pm
1.4?
VNavigator 17 Nov, 2022 @ 12:03pm
I was using this through whole 1.3 with many mods like Vanilla Insectoids for example and it was working without a problem. Didn't try with 1.4 yet but I'll give it a go.
mooklepticon 28 Jun, 2022 @ 6:55pm
can you please update for 1.3?
TankBob 19 Aug, 2021 @ 4:57pm
is this a dead mod?
Koi 11 Sep, 2020 @ 8:17am
Is this compatible with the insectoids mod?
nukita  [author] 12 Aug, 2020 @ 2:45pm
i have not tested this with 1.2 but in theory it should be fine
nukita  [author] 12 Aug, 2020 @ 2:34pm
i wish they would stop fucking with the version number
Enlonwhite 11 Aug, 2020 @ 11:24pm
1.2 was just released give him some time to think if he wants too or not, XD
(≡◉‿‿◉≡) 11 Aug, 2020 @ 8:45pm
Okok, then do you plan to 1.2 this :)
nukita  [author] 11 Aug, 2020 @ 3:29pm
it probably conflicts with other infestation mods
Enlonwhite 9 Aug, 2020 @ 1:25pm
I dont think it does as they both modify similar things, aka they would conflict even if they could be loaded together, but that is just my opinion. Havent tried it.
(≡◉‿‿◉≡) 9 Aug, 2020 @ 1:39am
Does this work with better infestation?
arrow121 17 Jul, 2020 @ 11:18am
k thanks.
nukita  [author] 14 Jul, 2020 @ 8:43pm
the hives spawn manhunter bugs so the bugs will be aggro all the time and try to attack living creatures (animals, humans)

this means they will eventually either die from fighting animals or end up attacking your humans, so either way they won't starve... they will either die or kill all of your people
arrow121 14 Jul, 2020 @ 7:42am
Hi. Ive got a couple of questions. How do the hives grow in this mod? do they still reproduce but it takes a lot longer or do they just spawn more bugs increasing the population? and if they do grow by spawning more bugs wouldnt the bugs starve as the hive only produces 20 jelly a day?
Paladin 12 Mar, 2020 @ 10:33pm
May I ask for an update for 1.1?
nukita  [author] 17 Oct, 2019 @ 8:06am
dunno, probably. if that mod changes insect hives, maybe not.
Viper 17 Oct, 2019 @ 5:26am
Hey, is this compatible with combat extended
Nolan 25 Jul, 2019 @ 1:37pm
@nuke to answer that guys question about RJW, the mod itself actually recommends your mod.
they also change manhunters so that instead of killing they will get rapey, cocoon the pawn, take it back to the hive to serve as an incubator to produce more bugs.(if the pawn dies after being incubated the corpse still serves its purpose and will still carry the eggs.)
For those of you looking to judge meh, i'll also mention the extensive config they have to disable everything you don't want.
nukita  [author] 3 Jul, 2019 @ 9:38am
not sure what you mean.

the hives will still be difficult if you let them grow too much, but it's less crazy than the default hives
2Camel 27 Jun, 2019 @ 8:28pm
does this remove the maintenance need to make the hives more difficult to deal with?
Aeris 16 Apr, 2019 @ 12:46pm
Is it still possible to destroy a hive before it spawns any insects? This used to make infestations too easy to deal with:
1. Game stutters for a moment.
2. Okay, where are you, hive?
3. Select a brawler and order him destroy it.
Dosboy 29 Mar, 2019 @ 6:04pm
Does this decrease the infest event? It seems since I've added it, I've gotten very few infestations... not that I want them, but just wondering.
nukita  [author] 5 Mar, 2019 @ 12:15pm
they can still spawn in your base i think but they're easier to deal with so it's not as bad
Siva 5 Mar, 2019 @ 8:36am
Is their spawning location changed at all or will they still spawn in the middle of your base
nukita  [author] 17 Feb, 2019 @ 5:34pm
probably but in general you shouldn't change mods on an existing game
Mysteriono 17 Feb, 2019 @ 4:31pm
Is this safe to add to an existing save?
nukita  [author] 16 Feb, 2019 @ 6:19am
you mean their surroundings? yes they will occasionally dig at nearby walls in their hive.
Goose 15 Feb, 2019 @ 9:57pm
Do the bugs still dig?
Master Cat 5 Feb, 2019 @ 5:05pm
I have a screenshot somewhere. Hundreds of bugs are attacking the colony. They completely ruined my base with few surviving colonists escaped via pods. That was awesome, I didn't lose in RW for while. Great exp.
JDCollie 11 Jan, 2019 @ 9:22am
@enlonwhite Sounds like you inadvertantly discovered the best Starship Troopers conversion for Rimworld ever!
nukita  [author] 26 Nov, 2018 @ 12:51pm
it depends on what difficulty youre playing at. on Rough, it will spawn 1 spelopede manhunter every 1-2 days per hive. I made sure to keep it balanced so it's not sending too many manhunters
Tisin 26 Nov, 2018 @ 9:16am
@Enlonwhite It spawns a bug (per hive) once every few days or so depending on difficulty, as far as I've noticed when it does work. If you've read through the comments you'll have seen me have some issues that every so often disappears then comes back.

But it doesn't go overboard like the one you're describing, unless you'd have a mod that breaks the functions of this one. I really do recommend this, because it does add a bit more "Ooomph" to the insects while keeping it to a nice level. If you have 3 hives on a map, it makes them fun instead of just frustrating!
Enlonwhite 26 Nov, 2018 @ 3:20am
But i dont want a mod that spawns them that fast, it was absurd that megaspiders would grow/spawn so fast. So as long as this mod does not do that like the last infestation improving mod in B18, then ill take this mod and enjoy it.
Enlonwhite 26 Nov, 2018 @ 3:18am
Does this mod make them spam spawn attack you at savage or harder difficulties?
I swear the other mod that did manhunters just had them spawn 2-3 megaspidrs every hour, for each hive if it did not have 2-3 already out.....and they just kept coming......and coming....and coming.....and coming....so many bodies, and even 4 turrets and shifts of 2 colonists each with battle rifles or better (orassans assualt rifles) could not stop them....over 112 dead bugs in little over 2 days. then they ..they would of made it had i not found a bug....built a wall at the Last door.
they stopped coming after that.
nukita  [author] 24 Nov, 2018 @ 7:24pm
well, the manhunter insects would probably kill instead of rape the colonists, so that might ruin your fun times
SpankMan 24 Nov, 2018 @ 6:22pm
a porn mod, he wants aliens to fuck his colonists rampantly without conflict in the mod
nukita  [author] 24 Nov, 2018 @ 1:57pm
whats rjw
ishootnoobs01 24 Nov, 2018 @ 12:03pm
would this work with RJW
nukita  [author] 23 Nov, 2018 @ 3:24pm
yes it improves the infestation event. i finally fixed that save bug so everything is good now
Dragoon 20 Nov, 2018 @ 9:21pm
Is this esstentialy a better infestations update/mod?
nukita  [author] 14 Nov, 2018 @ 10:48am
i've looked into the issue and yeah it's not properly saving the next hive spawn value. i need to investigate further
Crowley Night 14 Nov, 2018 @ 1:03am
So, looks like the timer's fine now (thank you), but now there's a different issue. Every time I load into a game that has hives, the timers remain the same as they were, but the hives spawn a hunter insect. This happens every time I load regardless of the save I choose.
Tisin 6 Nov, 2018 @ 2:11pm
That sounds likely, now that I think back. I used to have the Progress Renderer mod as well but each time it took a screenshot, the UI froze and I had to load the save. Upon doing so, each hive said the massive amount of time.
Then again, it's worked for a long time in my current save where I don't have that mod at all due to the issues it had.
And another detail is that each hive, at the start of a new colony, says "dormant" on it. It seems to go away on a load of a save, assuming the mod functions. And now that I also think about it, it never functioned when I had it active at the start. However, I activated it in mid-game on this colony, and it then worked.
Is it possible that something about it being loaded at creation messes something up too?
nukita  [author] 6 Nov, 2018 @ 1:05pm
it most likely is an issue with it not properly saving the insect spawn timer when you save your game. it works fine when it spawns while you're playing, but if you save and return to it then it breaks the spawn timers.
Tisin 6 Nov, 2018 @ 10:22am
I gave the mod a go once more eventually and suddenly it did work for a while. Quite well, in fact. Though in my last session, I guess the count of insects got so high the hives stopped producing as they once again switched over to 200+ years until the next.
It might be related to saving, like FoxPotato said, though I will admit I didn't pay attention to when exactly this change from normal function to the state of "dormancy" occurred.
nukita  [author] 5 Nov, 2018 @ 8:55pm
Oh that is useful information, i'll try and get a fix out
Crowley Night 5 Nov, 2018 @ 6:06pm
I'm having the same issue, though I've noticed that in my case it happens on save. If I start a new game and don't ever quit, the time scale for insect spawns work fine. However, when I save the game and reload it, all hives on the map jump to around 300+ years until next insect spawn. This also accounts for dormant hives, which I assume shouldn't be spawning any in the first place. Same tests, same issue with/without other mods. This only happens for me upon saving the game and loading back in.
