Yeah I had issues with the UI in that regard.

alot of the checkpoints are in weird positions after crashing your car. Please make sure the blue arrow on the checkpoint object is placed on the road in the direction you want the player to go. The arrow should be perpendicular with the road. Retesting is the best method for this,you can even test right from the checkpoint in options.
