Project is a lost cause, and believe me when I say I won't be starting from square one any time soon. Sorry for the waste of time. There is only so much motivation a student can give to a hobby.
Bad News:
Unfortinately the map has already hit the limitations of what the game engine allows. To compensate, some areas have been removed from the map such as the train station, the industrial area and maybe even the large hill.
Good News:
The map's layout is a lot more smooth now, thanks to the change, and brings an even better addition to roleplay realism. The map will be focussing more on the castle rather than the rural aspect of the environment.
I live in Kent which looks similar to the map you're creating, but I am from the Medway area e.g Strood, Chatham, Gillingham, Rainham, Rochester and Hoo. My ultimate wish is for someone to try and recreate a gmod version of a town in Medway and name it something like: "gm_medway" for example.
I may as well tell you this in advance as I don't want you to be disapointed if it actually happens, but there is a good chance the map will have to have a delay due to the Source limitations. If this does happen, I will work as fast and hard as I can to ensure the map is done to a perfectionist standard.
Please remember this is a one-person project and I am only human. Thanks for all the support and suggetions.
The only problem within the map is the buildings. The map is very highly detailed and has alot of structure. The source engine has alot of limitation to mapping and disallows you from having such high detail. At the moment the detail is going to reach a point where I cannot add any more buildings or structures. So I will have to make a sacrifice within the map. Basically I will have to cut something from the concept out or maybe even start a new map but use the environment currently made to save time.
I have been having some internet issues over the past month. So if i'm idle from Steam or this page, it doesn't mean I've given up.
Give the builboards at bus stops a variety of advertisments showing off real UK brands, that would very awesome as a small detail to take in.
Even though you're already planning to do this, add more buildings. It would be cool to add generic buildings so people can do whatever they want with them, but adding buildings with UK brands textured on them would be very awesome as it would make you feel like you were in the UK. An ASDA or Argos, Boots and maybe even Tesco?
The choice is yours really, but I thought I'd give you some suggestions just incase.
The next workshop update will be here soon. I just don't want to re-activate the hype until the final version is just around the corner.
