Yup, just found a revolver in a chest (in a crate, actually) through normal gameplay on an old world.

Chests pull from a treasurepool file. This mod (and all my other weapon mods) utilize patchs to the treasurepool file which add each revolver tier to their respective commonGun, uncommonGun, and rareGun pool type. Translation - they generate naturally. You should not need to restart your universe, just find a new world, since I think loot is stocked on initial world generation.

This conversation is getting slightly out of hand, so let me sum it up for you:
The creator KNOWS what a revolver is, how it operates and its similarities and differences with semi-automatic pistols. He used the 'slightly more punchy pistol' in terms of in-game functionality - that is, they are one-handed semi-automatic weapons that are functionally identical to pistols except they do more damage and have a slower fire rate.
Also, this being one of my first weapon mods, how exactly do you obtain them? My technical knowledge of Starbound is that the universe with everything in it is pre-generated (well, generated with the same seed, anyway). Are chest contents generated upon opening so I don't have to worry about refreshing the world in some way or do I have to literally start a new game from scratch?

Nobody is forcing you to use the mod. A few skins aren't really enough to make one weapon type unique if it's functionally identical to something else.

Yeah, I understand all of that, I've shot plenty of revolvers. But I needed something to distinguish revolvers from normal pistols, hence more damage and slower fire rate.

Revolvers aren't "slightly punchier" pistols. They are handguns which hold ammo in a revolving cylinder instead of a detachable box. They tend to be "punchier" because a revolving magazine needs to be re-loaded manually, so it makes sense to go for bigger, fewer bullets. Damage is determined by projectile mass, barrel length and muzzle velocity, not the loading mechanism.

Hmmm... old starbound had revolvers... is there any way to get those assets? the original parts might mix well with these ones, Either way, this is brilliant
