Hi BlackArmor,

I realized that my request may have been unclear before, so I wanted to circle back to clarify that our intention is to make a few changes to the grid in order to fit with our mod pack, such as adding a beacon or changing the power/weapons loadout, which will require a reupload. We've provided a link to your mod along with your name and full credit for the design on the page: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2439923690 .

I apologize if my original request was unclear; please let us know if you'd like us to stop using it.
alucard 27 Feb, 2023 @ 8:44pm
Thank you!
BlackArmor  [author] 27 Feb, 2023 @ 6:23pm
Yeah go ahead
alucard 27 Feb, 2023 @ 10:23am
This is absolutely amazing!

I am a server admin and would love to include this (likely with some modifications for our server) as a new challenge for players to attack. Would you be fine with us adding it to players can do battle with it?
BlackArmor  [author] 10 Sep, 2022 @ 7:55pm
I didn't want to see the pipes :)
MrValiant 7 Sep, 2022 @ 12:53pm
that is not a complaint, I am just curious.. I did modify it and added conveyors to all the guns but somehow lost that and the rest of the BP's I made. :steamsad:
MrValiant 7 Sep, 2022 @ 12:00pm
@BlackArmor I like the fortress but why didn't you connect the turrets to a conveyor system so they would load automatically. As it is, I have to fly over and fill all manually or swap out that conveyor with a cargo container and put ammo in there..
Ano 8 Dec, 2018 @ 1:56pm
can you make a moving fortress like this in the movie
BlackArmor  [author] 13 May, 2018 @ 7:05am
They are fun

a brilliant build but some of the comments on this page are just :steamfacepalm:

Thank U :-)

a blueprint is placed from the blueprint spawn menu, or welded from a projector. (you'll only be able to spawn in creative, but you can use the projector and manually weld in survival)
Rufnek 28 Jun, 2017 @ 4:54am
Do you have to weld this or can it just be placed already done?
Purrfect-Blinky 5 Jan, 2017 @ 7:28am
I love this you guys from the MC community, it is actually that you take claim on the word 'Citadel' or something and say it what your invention! It was like 'Sky' was sueing 'No Mans Sky' (an ok walking simulator with terrible PR btw) for the freaking word 'sky' :P Well done! Love it
Blackarmor, looks like a proper castle/citadel/foretress to defend your medieval engineers in the future with!
BlackArmor  [author] 17 Nov, 2016 @ 11:36pm
Yeah....30,000 blocks is about as much as the game can handle and still perform modestly. Plus it just takes forever to detail something that big.
Stilgar 17 Nov, 2016 @ 8:31pm
Well what started off as just fun with UNSC architecture turned into a ship idea based heavily on the Spirit of Fire... Looks like it'll take a while to build something 2-2.5 km long... and I might need a new computer before it's done...
Stilgar 14 Nov, 2016 @ 5:55pm
Probably structure, although a mobile base of this size would be fun to try... Maybe both? :P
BlackArmor  [author] 13 Nov, 2016 @ 4:04pm
@Stilgar
Yeah some bonus entertainment in the comments here :P. Are you going to be making a structure or a ship?
Stilgar 13 Nov, 2016 @ 11:06am
Man, I had to make some popcorn for that convo!

Awesome job BlackArmor, I feel freshly inspired to make something this huge, maybe with a similar UNSC-esc theme.
(at least that's what your Citadel's design makes me think of)

I just read through this convo you guys are having and I'm amazed you can really claim that this SE creation is a copy of something else without providing any evidence other than a screenshot that shows NOTHING.
You do realise that medieval castles like this existed long before SE and minecraft right?
BlackArmor  [author] 21 Sep, 2016 @ 2:49pm
I'm sorry it appears that way, but I'm tired of restating that I have never been interested in Minecraft, never heard of your citadel, and couldn't even find a picture of it when I was TRYING to find it. I made my own citadel from my own visualization of what one should look like. If anything you should take pride that we ended up creating similar designs. When I use other's work to design my builds, which I have done many times with my many replicas, I always give them credit or explicitly say what it is modeled after. And had I used yours, I would have done so. But I didn't
SawBorg 21 Sep, 2016 @ 2:17pm
I was saying that the Everquest one was the inspiration for another that was made in Minecraft, it was the minecraft one which, roughly based on the everquest one (and gave it credit for the inspiration), appears to be the blueprint directly used to construct yours. The server it was built on is very popular and it has been viewed by thousands and had a notorious reputation, prompting it to appear in other places online like in forums and videos, and very likely talked about in hushed tones by those that bore witness to it as the bane of the PvP community. It was like seeing a copy, like the WH40k ones you have presented, it is so similar. The MC one actually had a working sewer system, fast travel, automatically openning shooting ports, one way secret exits and a whole host of amazing gadgets and internal factories that have not yet been figured out for space engineers... yet.
symptomy 21 Sep, 2016 @ 12:31am
Yeah I had to actually upload it, it's been sitting on my HD for a few years. Most of our screenshots were dealing with sever related issues rather than of our builds. Not to mention that it's hard to get arial shots in a game that doesn't let you fly. Given time, I can get my hands on more pics as it no long exists except in forum references. Your build isn't a direct copy of any more than ours was a true copy of the EQ Citadel, which we acknowledged. It's just similar to us. It happens even if two parties haven't seen the others work, but this is a game that attracts MC players. That poses questions to us. I'm sure you can understand.
BlackArmor  [author] 21 Sep, 2016 @ 12:18am
Okay I am looking at what appears to be a frontal shot of it as I don't see any more. From that picture I really do not see much similarity other than it being rectangular. The outer towers are much higher than my small turret mounds and the central tower is a different shape completely.

I understand that you guys must have put some serious effort into making it and this fuels your defence. It is the same thing that is fueling my rebuff. I do appreciate the respectful way you brought this to me as well.

Given the fact that you had to dig into a (your?) private photobucket album to find a picture of it, and also that I have never played the related games or had interests in their communities, you must understand that I haven't seen your citadel before.

I'm sure you received well-deserved recognition for the work you put into your project, and I want the same for something I took the effort to design.
symptomy 20 Sep, 2016 @ 11:45pm
Sure, no prblem. All we are saying is your seeing something you've done and so are we.
not trying to fight with you but as your defending your build we feel we're doing the same thing.

BlackArmor  [author] 20 Sep, 2016 @ 11:17pm
I would like to see what the thing you're talking about even looks like because the only picture I can find of the deathfist citadel is this:

https://jhowardhistory.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/2015-04-26_00002.jpg

And you guys keep sayin it's so similar, but it looks nothing like it. I think it's funny how you accuse me of copying something that I can't even find a picture of to begin with.

symptomy 20 Sep, 2016 @ 11:09pm
Like I said, I understand the idea that simular concepts emerge seperately under organic creative situations but I as I also stated, there are striking simularities that call into question just how organic your design is. You said so yourself, you understand how that works. It's very well done don't get me wrong but its a design thats been done in other games under simular circumstance. Yeah the desert gives you a better screenshot and sinking into the ground is pretty much for stabillity but its the same idea that's been done previously. I respect that you put in the work but understand that not exactly an original concept even if your ignorant of designs that have pre-dated it.
BlackArmor  [author] 20 Sep, 2016 @ 10:52pm
@symptomy
Sink it into the ground? That's what you do with every single building I've made. There is no logic behind that arguement. And the fact that I took a picture in a desert? You guys are just pulling stuff out of the air.

I have never heard of your Deathfist before today and you know what's worse than copying someone else idea? It's being told that you don't deserve to call something you've made by yourself, your own
symptomy 20 Sep, 2016 @ 9:49pm
I gotta agree with Stuck on this. What sticks with me is your decision to sink it into the ground. That was the original idea of the Citadel as it appeared on the minecraft server, a ruin that had been uncovered. What's also interesting is the fact that the DeathFist Citadel in MC also was located in a desert, much like your pics. I can understand the whole, organically similar design and all but the simalarities are striking. As Stuck said, it was inspired by EQ but ended up rectangular with 6 towers along thw walls and central tower that loomed above them all. :/

It is posted

Sweet I will check out your alignment fix! Cant wait for the next one, let me know when you get it done and ill do a video for you!
BlackArmor  [author] 20 Sep, 2016 @ 7:56pm
@stuckinbermuda (part 2)

I built my Citadel from the top down, expanding it with each tier in ways I thought looked good. Obviously the Deathfist makers and myself were trying to make our structures look like a strong medieval castle, so we ended up on similar paths. I put the gate/entrance in the center of one of the walls because well that's a logical thing to do. And the interior I made completely from my own design. The "doodle" I put on the floor at the entrance was just a space filler because that area was very flat and grey, my friend will tell you how many different symbols I tried until I stuck with that one.

My Citadel is of my own design, and I will not give undue credit for my 25 hours of work on it, sorry
BlackArmor  [author] 20 Sep, 2016 @ 7:56pm
@stuckinbermuda (part 1)
You know man I really understand where you're coming from, you think I am copying other's work and calling it my own and that would upset me too. But, I have never heard of the Citadel you described, and I have never played Everquest or Minecraft.

Now I have pulled up an image of it

http://images.mmorpg.com/images/galleries/full/212009/267681ff-dffe-4647-9552-89fc229023d6.jpg

And also looked at the schematics. I see some similarities and a lot of differences. The Deathfist is 6-cornered whereas mine is 4. The Deathfist does not have a central tower, it does not have ribbing in the walls.

SawBorg 20 Sep, 2016 @ 5:29pm
DeathFist Citadel from Everquest 2, the inspiration for a Citadel worked on for three years and by many players on a mincraft server, seen by thousands and used in hundreds of raids. The same central tower, towers on the corners and middle of the sides with the cannons/gun emplacments, layout of the center gate and similar pattern in the floor in the same place just inside it. Control room with the same layout that was used to control the cannons that worked in MC due to a mod. The RP server lore of the minecraft one was documented as a long lost ruin that was found and excavated from the sands of a desert, revealing ancient technologies and restored and used as a fortress... sound familiar? With the dimensions you used, could scale it. Sure you never heard of any of it before now right? It is like the MC template was exported into SE. Now I'll give you props for the cool 40k rebuilds but no way on earth that citadel is original.
xDiend 20 Sep, 2016 @ 4:54pm
This looks amazing, well done!
BlackArmor  [author] 20 Sep, 2016 @ 4:39pm
@stuckinbermuda
What is this based on?
SawBorg 20 Sep, 2016 @ 3:01pm
Just saying, I know the original work this is based on, might seem obscure, but best to give props where they are due and not claim that this is original. Perhaps you were inspired by a screenshot or video of it or maybe someone just told you the story of it... just saying because I know it has been on youtube...
DividableMass11 20 Sep, 2016 @ 2:42pm
ok, i might do that.
BlackArmor  [author] 20 Sep, 2016 @ 2:37pm
@transformersprime7
Nah I don't think I will make that, could be pretty laggy as my stuff keeps getting bigger. It's a fun thought though and I would like to see it if you or someone decides to take it on.
DividableMass11 20 Sep, 2016 @ 1:05pm
Hey BlackArmor, you dont have to do this but it is a suggestion. Do you think you can do a world with some or all of your creations in a senario were there are like, bases that have been abandon for a while and there is wrecks of other vehicles???? like i said you dont have to, this was just a thought.
Brigapes 20 Sep, 2016 @ 10:47am
Looks f*** epic! :D
BlackArmor  [author] 20 Sep, 2016 @ 10:09am
@Jeremy "Lastrosade" Shields, The Dishonored
Thanks guys

@Le Bosscheter
I made another base which was modeled after a 40K design, it also had a medieval theme. This one is just my own "doodle" though :)

@Blastmetal
I like to be as realistic as possible, and I'm pretty sure the insides of these things weren't painted. It is built as if some future military recovered some ruin, then fortified it and turned it into a base.
Lastrosade 20 Sep, 2016 @ 9:37am
This is gold
Kona Refur 20 Sep, 2016 @ 9:29am
That is just AWESOME!
Radu2914 20 Sep, 2016 @ 8:40am
Am I the only one who thinks this looks like wh40k? Great job man
Blastmetal 20 Sep, 2016 @ 3:06am
a bit more paint work should have done wonders for maybe the interior its very grey.

But overal very medieval look to it i like it :)

@captainfructose
Nice vid there my man! I enjoyed watching and will put it up asap.

I'm sorry about the alignment trouble when trying to paste on planets, I have updated the description with the trick that I use to align all my buildings. Hope that helps.

PS - You will like the next one
