Update, there is a new ArcGIS API for height map data from NOAA that is higher resolution and includes bathymetric elevation as well for more accurate coastal waterways. I have only tested this so far with locations in the US, areas outside of the US might not come out as cleanly as the elevation data is more limited in availability and resolution.

This API provides Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data in a signed 8-bit PNG format which works well with the game's height map import function almost as is.

I have some more validation testing to do with the OSM data and road placement, but so far the results have been very good with far more accurate placement on the generated terrain.

I will need to rewrite the documentation to provide clear instructions for getting a good result, but it's very likely I'll have this done between now and Christmas.

I’m working on some fixes for this. The services (3rd party APIs) that were providing the height map and street data were taken offline. Without that data this mod will not work correctly. I have found a promising source for height map data, and I’m working on finding a more reliable source for street data. There was also an issue related to asynchronous fetching from the APIs which I have a fix for, but will hold off publishing a new version of this mod until all functionality is working as expected.

Can’t make any promises on when this will be complete, most of what remains to be done is to improve the accuracy of placement when applying the street data for a given height mapped region.

Guys, you can use Overlayer V2 as a substitute! Thanks to PropaneDragon for pointing me in that direction, i've sucessfully recreated cities!

Hello together,

i am trying to import streets since 3 days...
its possible to load the map.osm from file and its possible to load the streets data from overpass.api.

it always says, data is loaded.

but when i start to make roads, then the number of streets get loaded, but i get round about 100 errors:

"Invalid IL code in Mapper.RoadMaker2/<MakeRoad>d__S:MoveNext ():IL_0223: stfld 0x040000c0

[System.InvalidProgramException]

Details:
No details"

When the "Street Loading" is finished, then arent there any roads.

Can anyone help me?

i just wanted to use this mod to make a new map but as soon as i enter cordinates for charleston, South Carolina it fails.. -79.694589,33.074420,-80.337802,32.535435 it crashes my game (i got all dlcs) i hope this cann get fixed. roads did nnot import at all it gives ann instand "imported roads" text

This is a very good mod, it used to be work on my CS, but recently it seemd to be not working anymore. They crashed. I hope this mod will get attention from expert to fine tuning it, and perhap, including map overlayer into its feature will make it even better...keep up the good work!

@-DI- rmjohnson144 the road data didn't go beyond the 25 tile limit even if I gave a bigger OSM data and did the 4.5 tiles to boundary just you said.

@GilbertRoyAlva: The 81-tile mod has nothing to do with it. You get all 81-tiles in the editor. Although you need to set the radius (tiles to boundary) from 2.5 to 4.5. You may run into road limits tough on some cities.

When i said about 81 tiles mod i meant getting the road date for the entire map.
currently my road maps tend to be limited to the original tiles. need to test more.

This mod does work, I just have to be smart how you fire it up. You have to import the roads first then the terrain of the whole program crashes.

Will there be any future update to the mod after the Mass Transit DLC? I really love this mod and I would love to see it be compatible with the newer version of the game.

Just a heads up, I think the new Mass Transit DLC has fundamentally changed the assumptions this mod was operating under with regards to manipulating road networks. This mod may not work again without significant changes.
